Senior Member steve0580 Posted September 30, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted September 30, 2011 These are from my hair transplant on 09-30-11. Dr. Aronovitz of "Tessler and Aronovitz" in Southfield, Michigan did the surgery. This is my 4th surgery. Dr. Tessler did the first three for roughly 2100 grafts. Because of the advance in the last 10 years, they are now able to eliminate more excess tissue and fat, allowing smaller grafts and the ability to concentrate more into a smaller area as well. This is the strip method. The left side of my hairline was becoming very thin and one small area had almost no hair at all, so I especially wanted to concentrate on that area. Today's surgery resulted in 1149 grafts being transplanted. The incision area is sore, as well as the top of my head and the surrounding area. I will probably get the vicodin prescription filled later. The last photo of my hair combed down in the back is after the strip was removed and the hair washed before I left. The cut is virtually undetectable.
Senior Member Blake Bloxham Posted October 1, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted October 1, 2011 Steve, Congratulations on the procedure! Senior Member steve0580 Posted October 1, 2011 Author Senior Member Share Posted October 1, 2011 (edited) Thank you for the kind words. I'm hoping for a very dramatic result this time. Certain hairstyles that I wanted to wear were difficult because it was so thin (for instance, the combed forward roman cut). Gaps in the hair look horrible like that. Now, with greater density, other hair styles may become much more feasible. It's my intention to keep everyone up to date on the progress. . If I can help anyone with questions, feel free to send me an email. Edited October 1, 2011 by steve0580

Senior Member steve0580 Posted October 4, 2011 Author Senior Member Share Posted October 4, 2011 (edited) These pictures are the front view, 4 days after surgery. My apologies for the poor picture quality. There was no one around to help me take side or back view pictures but I still wanted to give everyone an idea of how things are coming along. I'm now back to my normal hair care routine. The doctor's office advised me that when I wash it,there should be no water streaming directly on it yet. Be gentle and let the shampoo do its job, rather than scrubbing hard. I use conditioner, as well as hair spray and gel. If you compare these to the previous pictures, you can see how well things are coming along. Unless you look closely, it's difficult to see the tiny scabs. There are noticeable differences in the healing process, as opposed to my last surgery 10 years ago. Although it's still a bit tender, the top of my head doesn't have as much numbness as it did last time and I seem to be experiencing far less itching from the scabs for some reason. The suture in the back of my head doesn't hurt, it's just tight where the stiches are. Edited October 5, 2011 by steve0580
