Senior Member Spanker Posted September 8, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted September 8, 2011 You CAN have a succesful HT without propecia, I just do not think as succesful. Senior Member Thehairupthere Posted September 8, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted September 8, 2011 Your procedure would be successful, it's just you will most likely need another procedure to compensate for more native loss than you would have otherwise experienced if you were using the medication. In the long run the medication will make your hair look better, and save you money and more procedures. I am a consultant for Dr. True and Dr. Dorin. These opinions are my own. Senior Member Sean Posted September 8, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted September 8, 2011 I agree with the above. With Propecia you will retain some hairs you are bound to possibly lose. It also makes the hairs you are going to possibly lose thicker and healthier looking. You will regrow some hairs in some areas as well. So this will give you an optimal result. Without it, you run the risk of thinning hair, losing native hairs and etc. Propecia I think along with Rogaine, helps keep baldness under significant control. If you look at my one year photos, I just started to take propecia, but then check out my photos when I was ready for my pre-op. It seems as if I didn't lose more hairs, but some hairs filled in where I didn't have hairs. I wouldn't say it is a WOW major change, but yea, I can notice a change. Now, I just got a transplant, and I will still continue to follow propecia but add Rogaine to my regimen in a few days. Hair transplant alone does make a significant difference, but with medication it makes the results optimal.
