liveprince
I am a college student in my early 20s and have hair loss problem. Whenever I shampoo my hair, I notice a lot of hair are falling. Now I have been told I am going bald since there are less hair on the top of my head and it is widening. I have tried Rogaine for about 3 months but it becomes worse. I have tried Nioxin system 2 but so far I have not noticed any differences. My scalp is really oily. After one day I wash my hair, it turns oily and smells uncomfortable. I think my hair loss is due to the excessive oil on the scalp. Plus stress is a factor since I am in a competitive university school. No one in my family has had hair loss or baldness from the past until now so I dont think it is genetic. I am healthy so it may not be due to disease. I really need to do something to it now. I dont wanna go bald in early 20s. It really bothers me and affects my confidence. Thanks.
Senior Member Thehairupthere Posted August 19, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted August 19, 2011 See a recommended doctor from this forum to talk about medication for hair loss. You only used rogaine for 3 months which is not enough time to see the results. It is also normal to see increased shedding within the first 3-5 months with the medication but it will improve once 6 months rolls around. Continue using rogaine foam twice a day and talk to your doctor about propecia which also works very well at stopping more hair loss and can regrow hair. I am a consultant for Dr. True and Dr. Dorin. These opinions are my own. Dr. Robert True and Dr. Robert Dorin are members of the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians
liveprince
The reason why I stopped using Rogaine is that the product does not last long. It became like water after I shaked it well and pushed it out of the bottle. Is it normal? I am currently using Nioxin System 2 so should I go on with this or go back to Rogaine? Senior Member Thehairupthere Posted August 19, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted August 19, 2011 Perhaps the bottle was simply finished, also check that you're keeping it at normal temperature not in a cold or hot area. One bottle of Rogaine usually lasts 1 month or so. I personally prefer rogaine foam to nioxin I have seen better results with it. I am a consultant for Dr. True and Dr. Dorin. liveprince
What shampoo should I use? Should I use Nioxin system 2 shampoo then apply the Rogaine Foam? The bottle hardly lasts for a month. Many bottles I bought became liquid after about 2 weeks.
Senior Member Thehairupthere Posted August 19, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted August 19, 2011 You can use nioxin if you'd like that can help. Apply the rogaine after the shower. It should last longer than that, check where you're storing it or perhaps you're using much more than is necessary when you apply it. I am a consultant for Dr. True and Dr. Dorin. Finasteride is most effective on the crown area, which is the black hole when it comes to transplants. Senior Member RCWest Posted August 21, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted August 21, 2011 RcI noticed you stopped taking avodart weekly? Just curious why? I was on it a full year and didn't think it helped any more than Finasteride, so I guessed that Fin was strong enough for me right now. If I ever lose ground on Finasteride then I can always go back to it. Finasteride 1.25 mg. daily Avodart 0.5 mg. daily Spironolactone 50 mg twice daily 5 mg. oral Minoxidil twice daily Biotin 1000 mcg daily Multi Vitamin daily Damn, with all the stuff you put in your hair are you like a negative NW1?
