slister142
I had a transplant last monday, so I am 9 days out. I was told after 7 days I could play basketball. Tonight in a league game I got hit in the head pretty hard. I never bled but it is a little red and irritated, almost like a rug burn in the right temple area. Looks like a couple of the stubbly hair did come out, but did I lose the graft with no blood. Praying I did not lose any.
Senior Member Blake Bloxham Posted January 20, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted January 20, 2011 Slister, The general rule is that between days 7 - 10 (with most experts agreeing on 7) the grafts should be fully "rooted." Because it had been 9 days since your hair transplant, chances are that the graft was fully rooted and you may have lost a hair shaft, but no follicles (the important aspect of a follicular unit graft), especially if you didn't notice any blood. However, if you'd like further confirmation, I highly recommend contacting the clinic where you underwent surgery and asking them directly. Good luck! Senior Member Speegs Posted January 21, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted January 21, 2011 Rule of thumb is no gushing blood from displaced shaft and odds are good you kept the graft. Some people begin shedding hairs three days post op, you're in a nerve racking stage of the growth, in three months you'll see some promise but it will take about 8 months to truly start getting excited. I'm at 23 weeks now, growth is apparent, density leaves much to be desired still however. Hair loss patient and transplant veteran. Once a Norwood 3A.
