Senior Member waveskier Posted October 11, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted October 11, 2010 Mine hasn't improved much since the beginning, and I'm at 3 months. Still tender although some days more than others.
Senior Member Tom60 Posted October 11, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted October 11, 2010 4 years?!! What do you mean it still aches? What type of pain is it? Sharpness? Numbness? Perhaps a nerve was hit during surgery?
Regular Member creepingback Posted October 12, 2010 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 12, 2010 Thanks for the response. It's more of a dull pain on one area of my scar. After wearing a hat it becomes more pronounced for at least a day. I guess this isn't normal? I have not been happy with my scar as it is visible. This is just another constant reminder of something I wish I never did.
Senior Member wb280 Posted October 12, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted October 12, 2010 creepingback, i remembered following your posts some time back. nice to see u back here! How ve u been coping? I think i remembered your incident quite well, but oh well, think thats the point here. You saying that your scar is still visible? Mine is still visible ( now at nearly 4 months ) but definitely it has improved by leaps and bounds. View my hair loss website. Senior Member mmhce Posted October 12, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted October 12, 2010 (edited) creepingback, What you are describing is a kind of neuropathic pain (phantom pain). I have had it for over a year now. I don't know if it will ever go away. It's as you describe "vague" or "dull" pain. Ref: http://www.transitiontoparenthood.com/janelle/energy/PhantomPain.htm "However, despite medical literature that says “both the phantom sensations and pain gradually resolve with time,” many amputees report that the phantom pain never completely disappears."
