I underwent a FUT procedure several years ago, and while the scar appears relatively thin, it has led to a peculiar situation where there is a band of double-layered hair encircling my head. This is due to the way the strip was closed, causing the hair on the top of the scar and the hair from the bottom to be in closer proximity compared to the surrounding hair, resulting in the appearance of a thicker band of hair along the scar. I'm curious if anyone else has experienced a similar issue, and if so, have they found a solution?

Hi, Noobineub, I haven't been back to this site in sometime...just noticed your message. I am unable to afford a 2nd Ht if I could I would likely use someone closer to home. My main disapointment is how visible my scar is. I struggle everyday trying to cover it up and regret ever doing it. I hope things are going better for you. Who was your Dr?

Thanks for the response. It's more of a dull pain on one area of my scar. After wearing a hat it becomes more pronounced for at least a day. I guess this isn't normal? I have not been happy with my scar as it is visible. This is just another constant reminder of something I wish I never did.

It's been almost 4 years and my HT scar still aches.. has anyone else had this? or know why?

I don't make a lot of money but still financed my hair restoration 3 years ago.. Don't do it!!! if you cant afford to repair, as I cant...Stop! I am sure if I had the money to continued I would be more comfortable with my own results but I cant. I wish I just shaved my head ,even though I don't have the best head for it..I no longer have that choice. Just regrets.

As I have a visible donor scar I was thinking of maybe trying minoxidil foam on my sides to try and thicken the hairs and hide the scars a bit more... Has anyone tried this? Is this a bad idea. I am not currently using minoxidil, but I am at the end of my rope and don't know what else to try.

Thanks everyone for your responses. Sometimes it can be a relief just to talk about it. I tried to take photos today and they don't really show the actual real life results... so there is no point in posting them. The other day walking out of work I heard a work mate say... " he should have stuck with a toupee" it has turned into a joke at my expense. I feel beaten down and just want everyone who is thinking about getting hair restoration no matter how much you research and think your prepared that your results may not meet your expectations or for that matter even come close. I personally feel defeated and dont know whats next for me.

Hey sparky, I agree although I realize things could be worse it still doesn't change how I feel about my personal out come. What I thought would be a positive change has turned into the opposite. I did my research and thought about this decision for a long time... then left it up to my doctor.. I would have never gone through with it had I been told that my sides were thin and a scar would be visible. I am unable to afford any repairs and wish I never did this.

my scar isn't anywhere near as bad as the ones you posted. It wouldn't be an issue if I started off with a fuller doner area. I'm sure most don't notice but a others do. I am not sure how noticeable it will be in a picture but I will try and take one and post it.

Hi, thanks for your responses. Yes my Doctor was Dr. Path. Please don't get me wrong I think hes a great doctor and did a fine job. It's not that my scar is wide it's more that my hair is so fine and thin on the sides that makes it noticeable along with the fact that on one side over my ear the hair around the scar enhances it. Unfortunatly I am not in a position to get this repaired if that's possible and having dirty blond hair makes it difficult to match a concealer.. Yes, a line around my head shouldn't affect my social life and give me anxiety, but it does.

It's now been around 3 years since my hair restoration...3 long hard years some regret and embarrassment. Trying to solve one problem has caused me a larger problem that I can not hide. My Donor scar is still noticeable I have tried many concealers to try and hide the scar but nothing really has worked. I now avoid social situations as much as possible and dread going to work. This is a horrible way to live and causes me constant anxiety. I think my hair was just too fine and I should have never been considered a candidate for a hair restoration on top of this along the scar line my hair kinda bunches up in places enhancing the scar line making the scar even more noticeable.. I wish I never did this. Anyone else feel this way?

I should say that my unrealistic expectations was a result from information given to me by my doctor.

Thanks for all your replies... I pretty much agree with all your comments! My hair is blond and baby fine, I don't believe that was really taken into account when we had decided on the grafts needed to cover... With that said I believe my doctor did a great job and would use him again...just kinda got my hopes up and expected to have had far more density... I guess I well have to do it again to achieve the results I was hoping for... do you think FUE would be an option? I really don't want to deal with the scar again....guess its time to start saving again.

Thanks for the reply Thanatopsis, I had the frontal 1/3rd done...and to be honest I am not overly pleased with the results.. I think the placement is fine but density was greatly underestimated which is disappointing as I was told I would be very happy and only need one pass for really great results... I would have much preferred to have gone for a larger number of grafts then have to go throw this all over again so soon.

I thought I would post my one year results....it was a very long year!! ..any opinions?

I'm at 8 months and my scar is still pink, I think it will be a few months before it fades completely.

Hey Gorpy, I guess it is a small area...doesn't feel like it to me! I really don't know the break down of total hair count...I am still getting pimples on my recipient area...I think I have had more the last month then the last few combined. I hoped that's a good sign.

I would never mention it... unless he brought it up...Some people don't really see it as a big issues, and maybe he would be one of them..Ill keep my insecurities to myself.

Hey Tom, I had some loss above the ear as well, not as much but it did grow back and I was somewhat able to cover it using dermamatch which I am still using to hide the scar,as I keep my hair pretty short...just this past week I am noticing a real significant fading in my scar, I guess I'm a slow healer. good luck!

I think my pictures are a bit deceiving regarding size.....I guess my real question is after 7 months how much more growth / density can I hope for 25% 50% more... My doctor said at 8 months I will be really happy with the results...I guess that's why I'm getting concerned now as its already 7 and only marginally better...I know it takes a year for full results...guess I just expected more...anyways thanks all for your advice.

yes that's 72 but luckily he made my hairline a U shape rather then a rectangle... I traced a U on paper using 12 by 6 as reference points, then graphed it out into cm2 and counted out 50 which was the same number I got when I traced it out.

Hey, thanks for your responses, I did the calculations and I seem to have an area of 50 cm2 that was covered...I traced it out using clear plastic as well to be certain I measured the widest width and the longest point and got 12w 6L and it worked out in both cases to be about 50cm2... does this seem accurate? giving me around 40 per cm2...maybe some just didnt take...

thought I would post some updated shots at 7 months... not overly happy with my progress was really hopping for more density by now...is there much more to come after 7 months??

I originally was going to have my procedure done at the clinic but after arriving and having my consultation at the hospital they informed me it would be done at the hospital.. which wouldn't have been my first choose as the cost jumped another $1000 due to hospital fees, If I need a second HT I would prefer to have it done at his clinic.

Hey, tom Your experience sounds as if everything went well...congrats! Did you have it done at Bumrungrad or at Dr. paths clinic?
