Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted September 28, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted September 28, 2010 This middle aged fellow was an ideal candidate for surgery. He has nice wavy donor hair, a lax scalp for strip excision, and a good color match between skin and hair. Shown are periop and 1 week pictures which show that he did a superb job of cleaning. Hopefully he'll show for the scar check next month and followup next summer for pics and possibly a second case farther back that we discussed. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA William H. Senior Member haircut Posted September 28, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted September 28, 2010 Dr. Lindsey, How many hairs went into the temple area itself?
Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted October 5, 2010 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 5, 2010 We didn't do any temple work. Only the frontal hairline, fronto-temporal hairline, and bulk of the front 1/3 to 1/2 of the scalp. About 900 singles comprised the hairline back to about 3/8 of an inch deep; then doubles filled most of the rest with triples toward the middle. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA William H. Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted October 12, 2010 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 12, 2010 He stopped back in last week for a 5 week check and shows that most of the recipient hair is falling out as expected, and despite a lot of exercise, his scar looks great at this point. We'll see him in 6 months. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA William H. Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted October 15, 2010 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 15, 2010 Thanks, I will put up pics when he comes in in a few months. He's got the potential for a dramatic result given his near ideal qualities of color match, skin turgor and stretchiness, and wavy hair. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA William H. Senior Member omy Posted October 15, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted October 15, 2010 Dr. Lindsey that is some very clean looking work post op . It seems the patient had very little bleeding . Very impressive and refined .
Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted October 20, 2010 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 20, 2010 Thanks. IF people follow my preop instructions on blood thinner avoidance...there should be very little bleeding. That IF is the trouble. For example, Monday we did 2600 on a nice asian fellow. He was an OOZER! Then it turns out he admits to a couple of advil over the weekend...and some green tea. His case took longer and I am sure he's more swolen today than the fellow shown above.
