Senior Member Blake Bloxham Posted June 25, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted June 25, 2010 Dr. Barrera, Thank you for presenting this interesting case! It looks as if this very worthy patient has undergone quite a transformation. He must be thrilled. Nicely done! Senior Member TC17 Posted June 26, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted June 26, 2010 Dr. Barrera, I'm not going to be as nice as Future_HT_Doc. In October of 2008, you posted a beard and mustache transplant. In November of 2008, you posted a "feminization of the hairline on a transgender patient." In December of 2008 you posted an eyebrow transplant. In January of 2009 you posted a correction for a female face lift. In May of 2009 you posted another female result. In August of 2009 you posted a mustache. In November of 2009 you posted another female correction for a face lift. In December of 2009 you posted an eyebrow case on a child. In January of 2010 you posted a correction of a female burn victim. In March of 2010 you posted another female with scarring from a previous injury. In May of 2010 you posted a mustache/beard case. And now in June of 2010, you posted a mustache/beard/eyebrow case. 12 out of your past 21 examples have been what I would consider "special" cases. A vast majority of people posting on this site are balding men, and yet less than half of your last 21 posts have been of balding men undergoing hair transplantation. I don't see the value in consistently posting eyebrow and mustache jobs when so few on this site are looking for that work. I don't see the value in posting so many female results when so few females visit this site, let alone females who aren't suffering from female pattern hair loss. Posting those types of cases every now and then would be fine, but come on already! Show us what we visit this site to see, please.
Bill - Seemiller
TC17, Instead of criticizing Dr. Barrera for posting several speciality and female cases, why not just politely ask him to post some additional examples of hair transplant results on balding males? That would have gotten the same message across. Besides, there are hundreds of guests surfing this forum at any given moment of the day, many of which I can guarantee are female and men looking for specialty hair transplants. I trust your posts will be more respectful and not so abrasive in the future. Bill
Senior Member TC17 Posted June 26, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted June 26, 2010 Because Bill, if you look back on Dr. Barrera's posts, when there have been questions or requests, they have gone unanswered. I don't think there was anything wrong, antagonistic, or abrasive in my post. I was not critical of this result, nor of any others of Dr. Barrera's work. My criticism was limited to the very narrow issue of Dr. Barrera posting very few traditional hair transplant examples. The fact of the matter is that most of Dr. Barrera's examples have been of extremely limited value to the majority of members on this site, and that's disappointing. Regular Member Dr. Alfonso Barrera Posted June 28, 2010 Author Regular Member Share Posted June 28, 2010 TC17 Dear Sr: In response to your passionate comments, I am a Plastic Surgeon and treat patients with a huge variety of problems as far as hair related issues and other conditions. Obviously you personally are not in need for reconstructive hair restoration but believe me there are a lot of people with scarring alopecia who do not know where to go or if it is even possible to do this as a lot of surgeons do not do much of this type of work. I will add more examples of male pattern baldness anyway. Dr. Alfonso Barrera is recommended on the Hair Transplant Network

Regular Member SarieMarais Posted April 29, 2011 Regular Member Share Posted April 29, 2011 TC17, You may be mistaken about the lack of interest from females in terms of HT - i am a female who is in the unfortunate position of having had my sideburns stripped off by a facelift surgeon who told me he would NOT do that, so i have no sideburns and i also have retroauricular hairline deformity. I've have spent much time looking for some one like Barrera who specialises in female sideburn reconstruction. After only finding results of HT on balding men, i am really pleased to have stumbled upon Barrera and his 'special cases' to which you refer.
