Regular Member tooyoung Posted May 22, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted May 22, 2008 Started on Finasteride and Rogaine about a 5-6 weeks ago. I believe I've increased shedding, but my question is when starting these drugs, does shedding only happen in thinning areas, or does Propecia cause all "resting phase" hairs to shed, even on the sides of the scalp? For people who've had good results with Propecia/Minox, did you shed only the miniturized hairs, or thicker hairs as well? And if so, from your entire scalp? Regular Member GotHair Posted May 22, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted May 22, 2008 I've only noticed shedding in the areas of loss, but every situation could be different. I just started the foam and apparently you can shed for several months.
Regular Member HoToStop Posted May 28, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted May 28, 2008 One more question guys, When shedding happens because of propecia, will hair re grow from follicles which have lost hair because of propecia? How long will shedding happen and after shedding is over how long it will take to get back fallen hair( due to shedding)? -Thanks.
Senior Member hairbank Posted May 28, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted May 28, 2008 I don't know of any way to answer your question for certain. My "guess" would be that some of the very weak hair that was kicked into the resting phase may not come back, but, most of your hair should come back stronger eventually because it won't be inhibited by DHT, right?? Shedding may or may not occur. Even if it does, shedding is merely a more-than-normal amount of your hair being kicked into telogen, the resting phase, which lasts for 6 weeks to 2 months then it grows back like always.
