Senior Member Mark H Posted October 1, 2006 Author Senior Member Share Posted October 1, 2006 Picture explanation: Okay the picture was taken today, 2 weeks post op, and the insert is the line drawn by Dr. Cooley explaining where he'd put the hairline. They will look a little different, because I'd asked Dr. Cooley to modify it a bit to incorporate a slight widow's peak that I'd had...well when I had it. Some redness, and a good deal of shedding, and oddly, there is still a feeling of much hair on top even tho you can't really see it. Apparently the operation scares the color right out of it, and it becomes either blond or translucent...thats all I can figure, because I can still feel a lot of hair there. Of course I'm instructed that more shedding is likely before growth occurs, and I know that drill. mark h My Hair Loss Weblog
Administrators Pat - Community Publisher Posted October 1, 2006 Administrators Share Posted October 1, 2006 Mark, Thanks for the update. As you know, the transplanted hair stubble will continue to shed, leaving the hair follicles behind to take root. In two or three weeks you'll pretty much look like you did before surgery. Then comes the long wait (much like a long walk across a desert) before you begin to see the transplanted follicles sprouting new baby hairs that will grow fuller and thicker with time. Be well and don't do any head butting. Pat Never Forget - It's what radiates from within, not from your skin, that really matters! My Hair Loss Blog Sharing is what keeps this community vital. Senior Member Mark H Posted October 2, 2006 Author Senior Member Share Posted October 2, 2006 Actually, because I got clippered, I am not going to look like pre surgery anytime soon. Thats cool. My pre surgery hair was pathetic. My Wife says I look no worse now, and I agree. It would be a nice Christmas Present if I started to see some growth by the time Santa gets here. mark h My Hair Loss Weblog

Mark H, You should start seeing some growth near Christmas but wait until summer rolls around! You'll be looking good!

Senior Member Mark H Posted October 16, 2006 Author Senior Member Share Posted October 16, 2006 FYI, I've been on propecia since a month before the op, and have been using rogaine foam since a few days post op, and I mean all over the HT area front to back in an effort to stimulate growth as early as possible. Will it work...? [crickets] My Hair Loss Weblog

Senior Member Mark H Posted October 16, 2006 Author Senior Member Share Posted October 16, 2006 Yeah, it is a bit red, but there's no apparent irritation, just a slightly pinkish color compared to the rest of my skin. I wish it was gone, because then I'd just be a bald guy...for now. mark h My Hair Loss Weblog
