Dr. Pathomvanich's Potential Recommendation on the Hair Transplant Network

Valued Members of this community,

We would appreciate your input regarding the potential recommendation of Dr. Pathomvanich of Thailand on the Hair Transplant Network.

As some of you know, Dr. Pathomvanich has earned great patient feedback and reviews on this discussion forum. I encourage you to click on the "Find" button and do a search for "Pathomvanich" to read what has been posted to date about him. I think you will find the feedback is overwhelmingly positive.

Given his highly evolved follicular unit procedure, dedication to state of the art hair restoration and large well trained staff - his glowing patient reviews come as no surprise. In my opinion, he is a super star in Asia and if approved by this community for recommendation would be our first recommended physician in Asia.

I think it would be great to offer potential patients in Asia and Australia such a strong recommendation for world class work.

We welcome your input regarding his potential recommendation on this community. Please feel free to reply below. To learn more about our patient based process of reviewing physicians for recommendation, click here.

Dr. Pathomvanich and his experienced full time staff of 11 assistants regularly perform large densely packed sessions of highly refined follicular unit hair transplantation exceeding 3000 grafts, when appropriate for the patient. Dr. Pathomvanich has been performing hair transplant surgery as the primary part of his practice for over 19 years, the last 6 of which have been exclusive.

Dr. Pathomvanich is very hands-on and is involved in every step of the procedure from harvesting the donor strip to placing many of the grafts himself. All follicular units are dissected and trimmed under microscopes and carefully placed into the recipient sites by him and his experienced staff to maximize hair growth yield.

Using a single blade, he carefully removes the donor donor strip with a technique for minimizing transection of precious donor follicles that has recently been published in the professional journal "Hair Transplant Forum". Dr. Pathomvanich employs the trichophytic closure technique using retention stitches plus running absorbable stitches which he believes produces the smallest and most optimal scar.

Dr. Pathomvanich is a firm believer that natural hairline design is critical to producing world class results. He uses single hairs exclusively to re-create a natural looking hairline and is a pioneer of the laser assisted hair line design technology. In addition to his artistic eye, Dr. Pathomvanich uses lasers to assist in determining proper hairline placement on each patient.

Dr. Pathomvanich customizes his approach for each patient using a combination of custom cut blades and needles to allow for a perfect fit of the grafts into the incisions. Dr. Pathomvanich uses tools as small as .8mm for Asian hair (smaller for Caucasians) to minimize scalp trauma and exclusively uses the lateral slit technique. In using perpendicular (coronal/lateral) incisions, he can densely pack up to 50 FU/cm2 into the balding area safely when appropriate for the patient.

Many leading physicians such as Dr. Jerry Wong have visited his clinic in Thailand and were very impressed what they observed.

Given Dr. Pathomvanich's extensive experience and his ultra refined techniques, I believe that once he garners sufficient positive feedback on this forum from actual patients he should be considered for membership in the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians. I had the privilege of interviewing Dr. Pathomvanich recently for almost 2 hours learning about his experience, technique, and philosophy and was very impressed.

Based on the information I've acquired and patient reviews and photos I've seen, I believe Dr. Pathomvanich is doing world class ultra refined follicular unit hair transplantation.

Since Pat mentioned a the multitude of positive feedback on our forum, I thought I'd present a few of the topics below for your review. These glowing reviews are only the tip of the iceburg from my search.

Based on what has been presented here, it seems like there is good reason to consider him for recommendation: lots of links to threads with good results and clear photos, positive patient feedback, positive interview experiences with Pat and Bill and clinic observation by revered surgeons like Dr. Wong.

The megasession work looks very clean. Some more shots and possibly some video definitely couldn't hurt, since a spontaneous visit to a clinic in that location probably isn't feasible.

Also, one patient had the donor area shaved down two years after the surgery. It looks great, and it's also a bold thing to photograph and post. We see a lot of patients' donor hair pulled up to reveal scar results, but very few shots shaved to the skin, which is actually what most people want to see.

As long as the clinic keeps posting results, and other recommended/Coalition doctors who have reviewed his work approve, I think it would be a logical step, especially considering the apparent lack of skilled HT surgeons on that side of the world.

I think Dr. Pathomvanich would make an excellent addition to the group. In addition to his many positive reviews, his pictures demonstrate that he performs a clean and refined surgery. This is backed up by an impressive array of post-operative photos. He looks good to me.

Hi Pat,

I am a patient of Dr. Pathomvanich's. 27 years old and had 2377 grafts frontal. I am Canadian, currently working and residing in Korea. I decided to go to Dr. Path based on the feedback from these forums, and getting into contact with several of his former patients. All of which gave excellent reviews! He seemed to be the most solid choice in choosing a Dr. within Asia. Also, having recently finished university and beeing in the workforce for only a couple of year, budget was definitely a concern. Dr. Pathomvanich's prices were very, very reasonable! Anywhere else, at this time in my life, I don't think I know if would have been able to afford 2377 grafts. I am very to have been able to get to this Dr. while living and working in Asia.

I am at the three month mark post HT and I couldn't be anymore thrilled with the results. My HT was completely frontal, so the design was crucial and it is growing in like crazy. I am, to this date, 110% satisfied with the results and eagerly waiting for what is yet to come.

Prior to the HT, I conversed with Dr. Path and his head nurse for 4-5 months. They were always prompt with my emails, calls, they were honest and upfront about the photos I sent, grafts # estimates, prices and all quesions and concerns. They even over estimated me slightly to ensure that a job wasn't incomplete due to budget.

He has two wonderful Dr.'s that work with him. Betweeen the three of them they answered all my questions, made me feel so comfortable, they were all honest, sincere.

During the consultation they explained their HT procedures and ALL the techiniques. From using this sit extensively for research, and having consultations in two other countries... he was totally up to date... I also learned a lot of new things. I was 100% confiendent I was in excellent hands.

His nursing staff washed my hair, assisted me with my hotel arrangements, escorted me into taxies post HT, massaged me during the HT. ALL WAS WONDERFUL.

Dr. Path and the other two Dr. spent a very long time with me mapping out the design (both the day before and the morning of the HT) I was not rushed, they gave me adivce, their honest opinions and at no time did they make me feel like I needed more that what I expected.

I NEVER felt anything like a sales push, and I quote "we will not transplant anymore grafts that what you need."

During the HT I think they gave me xanax, I was completely relaxed and had massages. I feel asleep through some of it... I was quite sedated, but when looking around, the room was full of technicians working on the grafts. Not one of my hairs went into a cooler, they were disected and placed back in as soon as possible. I did get up a couple of times to use the washroom during the HT, and they let me see the technicians working on my grafts. Looked pretty cool!

After everything was done, they helped me to my hotel and that night I went for a dinner at the hotel and slept with some discomfort. The next day they washed my hair and did a follow-up. I felt pretty good... good enough to spend the afternoon at the malls to do some shopping... They did however give me strict rules of what and what NOT to do. I flew home the following day.

Since then I have been in contact with Dr. Path regularly regarding questions and concerns about my HT, he is quick to respond at any questions, concerns and worries. He encourages me to keep in touch. Most of the transplanted hairs didn't really even fall out... they stayed in and the denisty and coverage at this early stage is amazing.

As for the scar... at three months, I can't even see it. No one else can see it either. In my all honestly... UNDETECTABLE

I am getting compliments from co-workers and friends all the time on how great it looks. I am going back to Canada on Tuesday to visit my family for two weeks, I haven't seen them in over a year... I can't wait to show them. They know I had a HT, but I haven't shown them pictures yet.

GO TO THIS DR.! His medical services are better than any other I have expeienced... and I have been to many different clinics for consulations.

I would be very, very pleased to see him recommended on this site. This site is such an excellent source for anything related to hairloss... from Dr. reviews to drugs. Excellent.

One more thing... I know it has been mentioned and maybe even a little bit worrisome regarding Dr. Path's reasonable prices... the idea of 'you get what you pay for.'

Having been there... EVERYTHING in Thailand is less expensive than in West. I believe this has no bearing on the quality of Dr. Path's medical services. I feel 'you get more than what you pay for'

Thailand is a hot spot for medical tourism

Thank you to everyone who has provided their thoughtful feedback on this thread so far.

Clay,

It's also great getting some feedback from his actual patients.

Given all the positive feedback I've read about Dr. Pathomvanich over the years from his patients and physicians, I'm very happy, but not surprised that you had an excellent experience. I'm also glad to hear that you've got some good hair growth already at only 3 months.

I'd encourage you to create a hair loss weblog to share your experience and document your progress with photos.

Best wishes,

Bill

I'm not sure what else to say about Dr. Pathomvanich other than what I have already said... he's amazing.

The one year update in my blog should give everyone an idea about how happy I am with my procedure.
