  1. One more thing... I know it has been mentioned and maybe even a little bit worrisome regarding Dr. Path's reasonable prices... the idea of 'you get what you pay for.' Having been there... EVERYTHING in Thailand is less expensive than in West. I believe this has no bearing on the quality of Dr. Path's medical services. I feel 'you get more than what you pay for' Thailand is a hot spot for medical tourism cheers
  2. Hi Pat, I am a patient of Dr. Pathomvanich's. 27 years old and had 2377 grafts frontal. I am Canadian, currently working and residing in Korea. I decided to go to Dr. Path based on the feedback from these forums, and getting into contact with several of his former patients. All of which gave excellent reviews! He seemed to be the most solid choice in choosing a Dr. within Asia. Also, having recently finished university and beeing in the workforce for only a couple of year, budget was definitely a concern. Dr. Pathomvanich's prices were very, very reasonable! Anywhere else, at this time in my life, I don't think I know if would have been able to afford 2377 grafts. I am very to have been able to get to this Dr. while living and working in Asia. I am at the three month mark post HT and I couldn't be anymore thrilled with the results. My HT was completely frontal, so the design was crucial and it is growing in like crazy. I am, to this date, 110% satisfied with the results and eagerly waiting for what is yet to come. Prior to the HT, I conversed with Dr. Path and his head nurse for 4-5 months. They were always prompt with my emails, calls, they were honest and upfront about the photos I sent, grafts # estimates, prices and all quesions and concerns. They even over estimated me slightly to ensure that a job wasn't incomplete due to budget. He has two wonderful Dr.'s that work with him. Betweeen the three of them they answered all my questions, made me feel so comfortable, they were all honest, sincere. During the consultation they explained their HT procedures and ALL the techiniques. From using this sit extensively for research, and having consultations in two other countries... he was totally up to date... I also learned a lot of new things. I was 100% confiendent I was in excellent hands. His nursing staff washed my hair, assisted me with my hotel arrangements, escorted me into taxies post HT, massaged me during the HT. ALL WAS WONDERFUL. Dr. Path and the other two Dr. spent a very long time with me mapping out the design (both the day before and the morning of the HT) I was not rushed, they gave me adivce, their honest opinions and at no time did they make me feel like I needed more that what I expected. I NEVER felt anything like a sales push, and I quote "we will not transplant anymore grafts that what you need." During the HT I think they gave me xanax, I was completely relaxed and had massages. I feel asleep through some of it... I was quite sedated, but when looking around, the room was full of technicians working on the grafts. Not one of my hairs went into a cooler, they were disected and placed back in as soon as possible. I did get up a couple of times to use the washroom during the HT, and they let me see the technicians working on my grafts. Looked pretty cool! After everything was done, they helped me to my hotel and that night I went for a dinner at the hotel and slept with some discomfort. The next day they washed my hair and did a follow-up. I felt pretty good... good enough to spend the afternoon at the malls to do some shopping... They did however give me strict rules of what and what NOT to do. I flew home the following day. Since then I have been in contact with Dr. Path regularly regarding questions and concerns about my HT, he is quick to respond at any questions, concerns and worries. He encourages me to keep in touch. Most of the transplanted hairs didn't really even fall out... they stayed in and the denisty and coverage at this early stage is amazing. As for the scar... at three months, I can't even see it. No one else can see it either. In my all honestly... UNDETECTABLE I am getting compliments from co-workers and friends all the time on how great it looks. I am going back to Canada on Tuesday to visit my family for two weeks, I haven't seen them in over a year... I can't wait to show them. They know I had a HT, but I haven't shown them pictures yet. GO TO THIS DR.! His medical services are better than any other I have expeienced... and I have been to many different clinics for consulations. I would be very, very pleased to see him recommended on this site. This site is such an excellent source for anything related to hairloss... from Dr. reviews to drugs. Excellent.
  3. Just hit the three month mark post HT... it was all frontal and is really starting to grow now... hair is still quite fine and short with lots more to grow, so you can still see the scalp. This is where I am a little worried... at three months should my scalp still be a purplish color. looking back in my photos the scalp is 10 times better than a month or two ago, but was just wondering how long before my scalp should return to its natural color. thanks for you tips.

  5. you might want to think about going international.... prices can be significantly less than in west, but the quality can defintitely be the same with the right dr. I had an excellent HT done in Thailand as I am currently living in asia... you can also get a pretty amazing vaction out of the experience as well.
  6. I went on propecia and rogain three months ago. Shedding was absolutely disgusting...handful some days... tons of hair was falling out in the morning and at night. I stayed with the products and it has finally subsided and significantly decreased. The wait is hard though. Now I am starting to get growth again. Stay with the products. It will get better
  7. I didnt shed for the first couple of weeks.... THEN BOOM... I was losing hair by the bucket fulls. It sucked and was devistating... like losing more than 200+ hair in the morning some days. I stuck with it and the shedding has now begun to subside and it's getting less adn less. It's been about two months now. My hair got significaltly thinner, but now it is getting thicker and stronger. If your hair stays in, your lucky, if it sheds out, don't worry IT should start coming back after a couple months. proscar everyday 3 months minoxidil 2 months HT almost two months...fronal 2377 grafts
  8. Check out Dr. Damkerng Pathomnivich He is excellent and in Bangkok
  9. Greekman, I am approaching 1.5 - 2 months minoxidil 2.5 - 3 months proscar In the beginning I shed a DISTURBING AMOUT, my hair had never been so thin, fine and weak... I without doubt went further back with the hair loss as a result of these two drugs.... One day I alost broke down cause I had just had a HT in the frontal region, and shortly after, the drug kicked in and my hair wouldn't stop thinning out EVERYWHERE!! HOWEVER... The shedding has come down dramatically over the past couple of weeks, and I feel as though it is stablizing... I am still shedding though, I am beginning to notice a lot of new growth in the crown, and I think the top of my head where I was thinning out the worst on these meds, has begun to reverse and new growth might be coming in. HANG IN THERE! I almost quit, but stuck with it and am going to continue to stick with it. Give the drugs a change... In my experience, my hair got a lot worse, but it is now getting better. keep me updated
  10. I had a hair transplant in Bangkok a month ago. It was less expensive than if I were to go to Canada or the US. I am actually a Canadian, but I am currently living in Asia. I believe that I went to an absolutely amazing doctor who comes in high regards internationally. I had to book three months in advace, as he has a very good reputation. I am only a month into HT, but I am thrilled with the results that I have had to this point. I went to Dr. Damerkerng Pathomivich check him out. He is mentioned on forums with great feedback, I also read in here that he was asked to join the coalition, but wanted to update his websites first. You should have a good experience with this Dr. I did.
  11. hey everyone.. perhaps someone can give me some advice... I had a hair transplant 3.5 weeks ago... all the frontal region. I have been wearing my bandana and hat constantly to hide the obvious and because the redness hasn't quite gone away. I had my hair cut, and my hairdresser wondered if my wearing a bandana all day could train the new hair to grow in like a cow lick, or train the hair to go in different directions... instead of just forward like it is suppose to. Does anyone have any ideas or advice on this... also note. I don't keep my bandana tight.. it's loose and comfortable. Thanks.

  13. Hey if someone could help me out, that would be great! I had a hair transplant 3.5 weeks ago... all to the frontal region. Since my surgery, I have been wearing a bandana everyday as the redness still hasn't completely subsided... and the hair transplant is quite obvious... I got my first hair cut today, and my hairdresser wondered if my wearing a bandana the whole time could train my hair to make a cow lick, or go in multiple directions... is this possible? Thanks

  15. Hey TomA... I just had a HT with Dr. Damkerng on July 11th. I mentioned to them that I spend a lot of time researching on here, and that you recommeneded them in high regards. They mentioned you were schedualed to be in later in the month! THANK YOU for the advice. WHAT AN EXCELLENT TEAM! I had a wonderful experience in Bangkok, but not only that, the treatment adn quality service that recieved from Dr. Damkerng and his team was the highlight! I am three weeks into my HT and I am already thrilled at what I see. Thanks for the good words, and to anyone out there... I would recommend Dr. Damkerng and Stough clinic to anyone wishing to get a HT age 27 2377 grafts (frontal) When thing start growing adn looking good up there... I will be posting my progress pics
  16. Thomas J... ONE MORE THING... Even though there could be great doctors that work for companies like Bosely or PAI... I would recommend that you go to a private cinic, to a DR. that specializes in hair transplants ONLY and will perform no more than two hair transplants per day. Also, if you use this site (and others) to learn all you can and to get questions... take your facts and questions to the Dr. A great surgeon should be able to answer your question and repeat your facts straight on!
  17. ThomasJ I am 27 and I had a hair transplant three weeks ago. I had been planning to do a tranplant for three years, and in that time I spent most of the time researching the procedure/techniques/photos/side effects/ disucussions as well as looking for the best doctor that I possibley could find. THIS is a very helpful website in doing all of these things! Infact, the doctor I chose had been mentioned in the discussion forums in high regards, but wasn't actually a coalition member. However, I would have not come across him if it wasn't for this site. I did however bring his attention to the website and he was familiar with it, but seeing as how I had to book three months in advace, I figured word of mouth and reputation kept him pretty busy. So, bear in mind, that even though the doctors in the coalition are at the top of thier game, there are still a lot of other wonderful doctors out there who are just as good as the coalition memebers. NOW... the most important thing is... whomever your choose, you MUST make sure that they are experienced and use the most up to day techniques... THIS IS NOT SOMETHING YOU CAN SACFRAFICE FOR ANY CAUSE OR ANY AMOUNT OF MONEY... I am sure you are aware of the damage that can be caused by a bad hair tranplant. You also mentioned that you are of African American race... my advice is find a doctor who has had experiencing working with your hair type. I speak first hand at this, because I am a caucasion, living in asia and went to a hair transplant surgeon whose patients were typically asina/caucasian or middle eastern and he claims to understand the difference between these hair types. You must choose a doctor whom you are confortable with and takes the time to answer all your questions. I will promise you, based on my own experience, trust and faith in your doctor is what is going to make the difference... they need to be with you before/during and after your procedure. I know that I am only three weeks in, but I am very happy that "took the time." If you think in a couple years you want to get this done, then you're lucky cause you can start researching now. Make use of this website as much as you can, it's a great tool and GOOD LUCK
  18. To anyone experiencing major shedding due to proscar/minoxidil... check out this link, it gives a breath of hope and great explanation of what is happening and what is to come. I forwarded it to my HT surgeon to get his medical opinion. http://www.hairlosstalk.com/newsletter/article220.htm
  19. Hey HoTopStop Good to know I am not the only one going through this here: Here my deal: Proscar- 1.5 months once a day Minoxidil- 1 month twice a day Hair Transplant- 3 weeks ago. I can still shake out well over 100+ hair in the morning alone. This tends to be the worst time. Sometimes I think I could even shake out 200+ hairs. These hairs are very fine, as I have very fine hair. They are also very short and most of them are coming from the top of my head, not necessarily from the crown. The problem is I never had that much hair loss on the top (or the crown of my head). It was mainly the frontal region. Somedays I think it is less, while other days I feel it is more. Do you recommend that I pull back on the minoxidil to once a day until my scalp adjusts and then move up to two times a day? Or do you think the minoxidil is doing more harm than good and I should just stick on proscar? Even losing this high of volumes of hair, and noticing my hair is thinning right out... I am still early in the game with these products. Perhaps I should just face it and stick it through... What are some thoughts???
  20. Well I still have hope. I know that I went to an excellent hair surgeon. I do not regret the HT, but I am worried that the density of my new hairline will not match the density of the hair on the top of my head... which has significantly decreased in the past couple months as a result of minoxidil and proscar. However, if the shedding that I am enduring... will come back... stronger and thicker... I will be fine. I just wish I didn't have to go through this shedding phase. I am becoming self concious of areas of my hair that have recently thinned out. I am just losing sooo much hair through this process. I am going to stick with it, with high hopes, but what is a normal amount of shedding while of these drugs??
  21. Alright, I have been through the discussion forms on the topic of the use of minoxidil and proscar. I understand that shedding is a perfectly normal experience, and perhaps even great sign as to what is yet to come. However, my concern is that I just had a hair transplant 2377grafts (frotal) two weeks ago. I have been on Minoxidil 5% twice a day and proscar for two months. The shedding has not subsided and I feel it is getting worse. I am concerned that the hair I am losing was on its way out anyways, and will not come back. I do apply wax to my hair in the morning, and lately I literally wash my hands after without looking as the amount of hairs in my hands is enough to make me sick. Not only is it in the morning, but when I comb through my hair at night, I can even believe how much hair has shedded in the comb. I know that I am not experiencing shockloss, because my HT was in the frontal area and not within existing hairs. How much longer is this going to go on for? I am still young 27, my hair didn't shed like this three months ago.. I am praying that this shedding is just my responding to medication in an excellent way. Has anyone out there experience shedding in these high volumes (I am talking way more than 100 hairs a day... DEFINITELY...I could shake out 100+ hair alone in the morning)after starting treatments? What was the outcomes. Now, at this moment, the top of my hair and crown is thinner than ever and after just having a HT to the frontal... it's devistating for me to watch. PLEASE, send me yout advice and stories...
