just started propecia, hair falling out like crazy

I been using rogaine foam for almost an year and it didn't slow down my hair loss much. I decided to go to my doctor again and he he recommended to use propecia along side as well. I been using both of drugs for a month now, but seems like I am shedding like crazy. When does this stop, if ever?

 

Seems like my stupid middle eastern gene is fighting me, heh.

An initial hair shedding is typical the first few months when starting Rogaine or Propecia. It's recommended to use Propecia for a full year before evaluating its effectiveness. Hang in there!

Hi Folko,

 

I have been on propecia for 6 months, and I can tell you the treatment is working. I notice that the loss has stopped or slowed down at least. There was a couple of times earlier on when I thought I was losing more hair and you can definitely go through some periods but like Bill said stick with it.

hey folko, I experienced the same thing too with propecia. I had bad shedding in my widows peak in the month I tried it, which I was told would happen and expected. But for me, It was too noticeable for me so I stopped. It quickly returned to normal baldness ; ) I did notice my hair was a little fuller. I don't take any other meds or potions for hair loss. I am planning on getting an HT with Dr. Cooley probably...in Jan 2010.

 

I did also experience and little tingle in the testes off and on. Nothing major and it didn't bother me or hurt. Another side effect was my sex drive did increase noticably, but hey - preventing hair loss plus viagra in one. Now that's a pill. I do intend to give propecia a proper try after HT.

Thanks for the info guys, shedding did slow down, it still happening but much less. Hopefully it will go away all together as you guys saying.
