Senior Member TomA Posted August 31, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted August 31, 2007 I'd like to know how long it took for your donor scars to COMPLETELY lose their pink coloring... I'd love to cut my hair back down to 1/2 inch, but the scar is going to have to be completely flesh colored before I can do that. -- 1st HT with Dr. Damkerng Pathomvanich, Bangkok, Thailand - 18 JUL 07 - 3300 grafts (FUT) - US$6,930 2st HT with Dr. Pathuri Madhu, Hyderabad, India - 31 JUL 10 - 2249 grafts (FUT) - US$2,200 3rd HT with Dr. Pathuri Madhu, Hyderabad, India - 26 JUL 11 - 320 grafts (FUE) touch up - US$0 My Hair Loss Weblog My opinions are my own. Bill - Seemiller
TomA, Good question. As you can tell it's a bit different for everyone. For me, I'd say the pinkness took about 6 months to go away completely, maybe even longer. Most physicians will tell you that the scar takes about 12 months to mature. Senior Member MrJobi Posted August 31, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted August 31, 2007 Mine is still a little pink in some areas at 5 months plus. It takes about 6-8 months for it to completely healed ( for me at least ) JOBI 1417 FUT - Dr. True 1476 FUT - Dr. True 2124 FUT - Dr. True 604 FUE - Dr. True My views are based on my personal experiences, research and objective observations. Regular Member stillhere Posted September 3, 2007 Regular Member Share Posted September 3, 2007 My first procedure was done without the tricho and the scar was pink for about 8 months, but no one noticed even with a #3 buzz, but it's only three weeks from my second procedure, this time with tricho, and I can barley see any red or pink, just a very fine indent. Senior Member rp1979 Posted September 3, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted September 3, 2007 For me luckily, the donor scar pinkness was gone by around 2 months. I posted some pics of my scar in my weblog. I think in general it takes much longer for most people for the pinkness to go away.
Senior Member scooping around Posted September 5, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted September 5, 2007 I'm at 3 months post op, it's gotten a bit better than before, but it's still pink. By the way it looks, I think it should be good around the 6 months mark for me to buzz everything shorter.
Regular Member creepingback Posted September 5, 2007 Regular Member Share Posted September 5, 2007 I'm at 8 months and my scar is still pink, I think it will be a few months before it fades completely.
