Senior Member nobuzz4me Posted February 26, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted February 26, 2007 jsw, No it does not. Like you said, do not wear it real tight. Make sure to take it off when you go to bed! NoBuzz
Bill - Seemiller
jsw, nobuzz is right. It won't contribute to hairloss. Bill

Senior Member hairbank Posted February 27, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted February 27, 2007 Agreed...........hats have nothing to do with baldness. Funny.........I only wore hats sporadically before any HT's but did wear them, now, after my first two HT's have grown, I find I don't wear them at all......period! (unless I'm hunting or shooting.........it's a must then or they wouldn't let me in to the sportsman's club! ) Hairbank 1st HT 1-18-05 - 1200 FUT's 2nd HT 2-15-06 - 3886 FUT's Dr. Wong 3rd HT 4-24-08 - 2415 FUT's Dr. Wong GRAND TOTAL: 7501 GRAFTS current regimen: 1.25mg finasteride every other day My Hair Loss Weblog Disclaimer: I'm not a Doctor (and have never played one on TV ) and have no medical training. Regular Member Toad_NW3 Posted February 28, 2007 Regular Member Share Posted February 28, 2007 Not only does it not contribute to hairloss, it can help prevent sun damage to any area of the scalp that has thin to no coverage. Furthermore, I know some docs have written that highly sun damaged scalp is not a good area for the placement of grafts. So not wearing a hat can in fact hurt your future transplants. I think if your out in the sun for any extended period of time, regardless of hair, you should wear a hat or sunscreen on the scalp. Senior Member hairworthy Posted March 1, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted March 1, 2007 Although wearing a hat is not a reason for hairloss, hairloss is often a reason for wearing a hat. Been there. 3045 FUs with Dr Victor Hasson on 8 June 2004 1836 FUs with Dr Jeffrey Epstein on 2 March 2006 Regimen: 1.25mg Proscar every other day
Bill - Seemiller
lol hairworthy. Also been there done that. Forme, though...nobody ever questioned it, because I was a hat wearer even BEFORE I ever started losing my hair. Bill
Regular Member Christian Posted March 9, 2007 Regular Member Share Posted March 9, 2007 I am not completely sold on the idea that Baseball hats can not cause a small amount of hair loss(mainly in the temple areas where it causes the most friction). I might be alone on this one but if you think of certain hair styles that can cause balding (mainly braiding ones hair or dreadlocks) and or damaging ones hair follicles, why not a baseball cab that is constantly rubbing, pulling & irritating the temple area? There is no doubt that hair can fall out just by constant pulling or tugging{you can try it out yourself } but the question remains, will it continue to grow back time and time again? Now take the idea of waxing and with time, the hair will no longer grow back as it once did. Why is it SO unlikely that one can cause damage to hair follicles with constant use of a baseball cap? I just think their hasn't been enough studies done to come to a definitive conclusion. I understand that most hair surgeons & doctors concur(and the mass population taking to that ideology) but I still think this needs to be revisited and more research done before making such assumptions.
