. He said he would fix it for a minimum of 7,500.I then went to a doctor to seek help. this is the letter i wrote to the doctor today

Dear Dr Jones

I have an appointment with you on Monday Dec 15th 2003, to discuss my second hair transplant on the Thursday of the same week.

I would like to express some concerns I have since this is a very sensitive matter to me.

In March 2003 when I recieved my first transplant. I tried to cancel 2 days before hand, because I knew someone who was not happy with your work. I cancelled my appointment with Serena. You then called me back stating that you had lots of experience and that it will look normal you promised and that if I wasnt happy with the transplant you would do it again for me at no extra charge.

During my transplant, you said that you definitely packed the grafts in and that I would be very happy and if I wasnt you would do it over again for me for free.

During the day of my transplant I was able to eat a bagle for lunch, but I had to wait over an hour after for staff to come back to continue the grafts.

I did express the day of my consultation that I have severe fibromyalgia and that I would need to be very sedated to stay in the chair because of excruciating muscle pain. I did ask for more pain medicine after lunch but they said they needed to ask you because were in surgery doing liposuction, however that was not the case you were leaving to go out for lunch and that issue was never addressed. Today December 12th 2003, I did speak to Jenny about my pain problem she did assure me she would address it by injection instead of pill, but i did get an injection last time.

2 or 3 of your transplant reps only worked on me for a very short time 5- 10 mins. The middle eastern man said he could not see what he was doing and said he would go back and cut grafts and that he had to leave early, i think he just had a baby. Two occasions 1 or 2 women (blonde), said they cannot see what they are doing and that they knew for a fact that they were placing the grafts in the same place. So she said she was going to leave because it was useless. I then asked the other lady twicewho was working on me to reassure me that she was able to see what she was doing and that it would be okay, she did not answer me.

Not all the grafts were finished being cut. You instructed them before 4 to just finish using what they had in that circular dish in the room I was in. This was confirmed by two other technicians that came in and said "he" wants us to stop cutting the grafts and just finish up.

A question I had was that I was watching a tv program, and they were talking about not using the hair from where we had cut to use for the frontal area, because the hair would be to thick in texture.

The hair grafts have been placed in very different and unusual directions. I look at my real hair above and the grafts and I see that their is absolutely no consistency in placing them in the same direction or any consistent direction of the hair growth. I am very aware what new stubble hair looks like when it is growing in. I had my head shaved for 2 years which I shaved every 7-10 days. The grafts in their direction is not normal

How can you guarantee that the grafts will not be placed in such unusual directions, by your technicians after all you did make the slits before.

Yes there is a great concern of density this time. I can count the hairs that was transplanted.

But maybe even a greater concern, is there someone who is detailed oriented and is there any "qualified and licensed hair transplanter" who is employed by your office that will take the time and stay there the whole time and supervise the direction and the strategic planning of the hair line so that it may look esthetically appropriate. Have you done reconstructive frontal hair lines that have been messed up this way. Can you fix it? I do understand that some doctors are not artistically able to do frontal hair lines, either because of patience or not being able to properly visualize. The hair needs to be transplanted in the same way it naturally grows. This simple request has seemed to be a complicated issue.

I know that you will be there for the cutting of the scalp and the slits and will check in on the technicians, but truly you have no control over the way they are putting in the grafts or you would not of let them put them in this way.

Do you need to consult another Dr, get a picture of the proble or bring in someone who can esthetically understand the frontal hair line?

It is upsetting that you are making me pay after you promised me you were not going to before hand. I do hope the procedure will not be rushed, I hope the idea of this being a touch up is abolished because this is a corrective transplant.

Can you tell me the qualifications of the people who will be doing the transplant? What training do they have?

Before the transplant I cut bangs to cover the area, but you can still see the sparatic hair poking out in every direction. I know that you know that I am not working because of my disability, I have to use money from my other needs for this transplant, but maybe it will help me move on with my life. But please can we make it work this time, I am depending on it in so many ways. Although with my illness I have not been mobile, but I have alienated myself away from family and friends until my forehand can look normal. I have not gone to wedding or family occasions or even a vacation my family was going on because I would not be able to where my baseball hat. I feel that my life is on hold. Maybe it would be different if I was balding but the fact that it looks so freakish, not like normal hair growing in, thats why I am so ashamed and embarrased. I actually moved out of my parents home in Guelph after the procedure so they would not see it. I just want to look somewhat normal. The transplant you did was not right and it has effected almost every area of my life directly or indirectly. I am very lonely and ashamed of how the transplant turned out

P.S. Please respond before Monday Dec 15th in writing, with answers to my questions. And to tell me if you are willing to help me. And are my expectations realistic. My appt is

11 50am. I will await your response in writing

If you're that unhappy about your first HT with Jones, I would NOT be going back. I think that someone else on this site also had a problem with Dr. Jones (a very large donor scar if I recall). The fact that they didn't even use up all the grafts/hairs they removed should be causing red lights and sirens to be going off in your head. Your donor hair is limited...do you really want them to waste more? Out of curiosity, how many grafts were they supposed to do, over what area, and how long are the transplanted hairs that have grown? With a little length and training, you may be able to get those hairs to go in the direction you want.

I'm assuming you're talking about Dr. Rob Jones in Oakville, Ontario, since you lived in Guelph with your parents. Please keep us updated on the Dr.s response.

Can you post any photo's to show the "bad hair placement" that that you're talking about? Or before and after photo's maybe?

Good luck with your upcoming procedures.

Donna,

Do not go back! By going back to someone you were so clearly unhappy with you are weakening your argument and position should you need to claim something later on... Why take a chance when it sounds like it will just make matters worse. Talk to one of the top doctors recommended on this forum and see what they say.. Hair extensions, pieces, and "fillers" are really popular for women right now and many salons sell them. Get something cute and fun while you research your options.

You should never givea bad doctor a second chance. Money can be saved but lost donor hair is irreplaceable.

Consider all your options including a hair system that could buy you time. Improvements in techniques and expertise are occurring all the time so take your time and make a decision based on facts/logic and not emotion.

Good luck!

I am from Canada, the Dr Robert Jones I am talking about is from Oakville,ON. I do have a big scar. But they said its okay for women to have a big scar because they dont seem to bald in the back of their head. I didnt know my scar was so noticeable until I asked my mom to brush my very long hair and she said what this huge red scar. The transplant was to be around 1800-2000 hairs/grafts. The sparse transplant hair did grow but I have cut them because I am trying to hide them under bangs, until a full set can grow out because it just looks strange.

Yes male baldness does suck! But I am a girl and I am in my 20's and my hair did not fall out by my forehead by natural causes. You are right I should post a picture, but I dont want to show anyone. I have been wearing a hat religiously for almost a year. I will get a picture taken. I do think I will have the procedure again this week. And if it goes well I will post an after picture singing the Dr's praises. The Dr has responded by a phone call but not by my email.I will be going into the office today Dec 15th and he will tell me what he thinks he is able to do.

Please let us know what the doctor says today.I'm curious to know what he has to say about:

- his technicians

- the "different & unusal" positioning of the transplanted hairs.

- why there isn't a"qualified and licensed hair transplanter" in the room the whole time to supervise the direction and the strategic planning of the hair line so that it may look esthetically appropriate.

When you say that the scar is "big" are you talking big *from ear to ear* or are you talking *wide*(pencil thin width or thick marker width)?

Also, did you receive any "shock loss" of your original hair on top after the transplant?

You can always post pics of your hair and simply hide your face. I'm really curious to see the results since I was thinking of going to Rob Jones for a strip HT next summer.

Thanks and good luck.

BTW: I know you are a woman, the "male pattern baldness sucks!" is my tagline. icon_wink.gif

Donna, you need to have a consultation with a different doctor. I am currently 4 months post-op and have nothing but good things to say about my doctor. I went to the Seager Hair Transplant Centre and it has been very positive thus far. Dr.Simmons was the doc who performed my transplant and do date I have excellent growth. The Seager Centre has been extremely supportive of my emotional needs and questions. They're very approachable and understanding of the needs of their patients. What you have experienced at your doctor is not the norm. If your in the area I would highly recommend you stop into the Seager Centre and speak with Seager or Simmons. Their is light at the end of the tunnel.

Please let us know what the doctor says today.I'm curious to know what he has to say about:

I am having another transplant on Thursday and I am very nervous. His staff with medical training is just himself and a nurse. After he does the cutting and the slits. His nurse and him leaves the room for their "technicians" to do the rest. The DR and nurse then goes and does usually a cosmetic procedure. I saw him today, no he will not respond to my email in writing and yes he has seen this posting. I asked him will this give surgery give me more density and he said yes. But he says it will not be as dense as normal hair. I then said I want it to be dense like you promised. He then said it would be easier for him and more cost effective to use the light sheer hair removal laser and just get rid of the grafts he put in. I am paying a somewhat minimal payment for the transplant.

He said he did not see anything wrong with the positioning of the first grafts, there is just not many there.

When you say that the scar is "big" are you talking big *from ear to ear* or are you talking *wide*(pencil thin width or thick marker width)?

Yes scar is from ear to ear

Also, did you receive any "shock loss" of your original hair on top after the transplant?

No, not that I noticed. But my Mom says how my hair looks like it is thinning.

You can always post pics of your hair and simply hide your face. I'm really curious to see the results since I was thinking of going to Rob Jones for a strip HT next summer.

Yes Mr.Lavaman I know I would hide my face, however I dont want anyone see me to take the piture, to see what a mess I have made. I will do it before Thursday.

Thanks and good luck.

I originally wanted to go to Seager. The reason I didnt and this is silly is that when I called early this year they were not very customer oriented over the phone and I asked them like 2 questions and they said they had to go that this is a business and they do have to answer the phones. So lastweek I called them and I got the same tone.

Donna; Sorry to hear what happened to you. If I was in your shoes I would ask Dr. Jones for your money back. If he refused I would post all picture of hairline and donor scar so that all people can be warned. I would never go back to any doctor that was not happy with.

Just because Dr. Jones offers FUE doesn't make him a good doctor. Remember that before he offered FUE he only did strip and no one knew who he was. After seeing some of his picture on his website he was never a good hair transplant doctor to start with.

Good luck

I did go ahead with my second transplant on I Dec 18th as planned. I do have lots to say about it but I will zip it for now. I asked the DR to do a some FUE in the very front of the strip transplant to soften the look but quoted some ridiculous price. I dont think he does FUE, so if anyone has that in mind that they are going to get a FUE, you will be told in your consult that strip will be the better way for you to go. Technology behind FUE isnt so advanced its just time consuming for the Good Doctor.

Hi Donna. I am very surprised to hear that you were not treated with the utmost courtesy in your phone conversation with the Seager Centre. As a former patient, I can honestly advise that I experienced nothing but genuine concern, patience, support and assistance from the folks at the Seager Centre - while I was inquiring, during the procedure stages and during the recovery period. Dr. Seager, Dr. Simmons and the entire staff always had time for my questions and concerns and demonstrated a very helpful and friendly attitude towards me at all times.

I would suggest that if you want the very best results possible that you please contact the office of the Seager Centre again and make an appointment to visit the Doctors and staff in person. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. All the best.

I've keep quite over the last 8 months on my HT with Dr Jones in April of 2003. After reading varies posting on pre & post surgery I came away disappointed with my experience. My story begins this way I wanted to stay within 2-3 hrs from my house in case I had to go back for follow up visits. After reading many posts on this board Dr Jones came highly recommended but never any photos of his clients. I did take the drive to visit with Dr Jones after mailing him many photos & talking to him thur e-mails. My first visit went really well he told me what I wanted to hear that a HT would give you the look that you want.I am 48 and not looking for a full head of hair he mention 2000 grafts would do the trick He told me he had a HT and show me his scare hardly noticeable I could live with that. I was so exicited with his look I thought maybe I could look that go.I sign up up for the next opening which was in 3 weeks . The day of the surgery I show up at 7:30 am and meet with the nurse she prepared me with the surgery, Dr Jones show up at 8:00 and was ready to go with the procedure. He did the cutting & Slits and was done by 8:40 and left the room. After that his technicians came in 2 for inserting the grafts 2 on the microscopes . This part of HT started around 9:00am and was over at 12:15 at this time everyone left the room and did not say a word to me telling me it was over. At no time during this procedure was Dr Jones in the room or came into the room to see how I am doing (this did bother me at the time)around 12:30 Dr Jones came in and ask how I am doing. He looked at the results and said"everything looks good" I ask him how many grafts were used he told me 1960 after many questions he told I could go and to see him in the morning. I did go back to Dr Jones to have my stitches removed I was very surprise that the scare will be from ear to ear which he did not tell at the time. After this visit he told me in 6months mail some photos or stop up so he could see the progress. I have not been in contact with the Dr since the HT but have been reading many reviews and viewing many photos of HTs on this site and felt I've been short changed... Part 2 will follow THE RESULTS

Here is a reply you made to one of my posts just days before my HT with Dr Jones. You seem pleased in the post, so why didn't you say anything then? I guess I'm curious what could have changed since then to make you have a change of heart.

I to had a HT with Dr Jones 8 weeks ago before the HT I had my Stylist use a #3 blade on his hair trimmer. The #3 blade was short enough for Dr Jones, he did not have to cut my hair. Also for the back of the head you could not see the stitches on the strip.I went back to Dr Jones 10 days after the HT to remove the stiches the lengh of my hair was long enough not to see the scar from the HT. After 8 weeks the scar is still red but not as noticeable as each week passes my head is starting to feel like it was prior to the HT.Good luck

The question, is it possible to receive 2000 grafts in less 3 hrs?? When I meet with Dr Jones weeks prior to the HT he told me it would take all day for HT from 8 till 6pm for 2000 grafts. The day of the surgery I was out of the chair at 12:15 all dome.I ask the Dr why so little time he "told me we had a full staff today".I know I will need another HT for density & define my hairline will explore my options in another direction next time around.

Bigmac,

There's no way they could place 2000 grafts in 3 hours. What did he do with all the grafts?????????

Money can be recovered but donor grafts cannot.

The above mentioned so called doctor supposedly did 1100 grafts on my crown in less than 3 hours with 2 technicians working who took half an hour break each. At the end of the procedure one technician was making the incisions.( according to this site, he's very "hands on")

I'm left with 3/4 inch donor scar which's still red 2 months post op.

Of my 5 e mails he replied to one telling me that I got more than I paid for. Does getting a break justify the above????

Considering the length of my donor scar, I beleive my strip yeilded even more than 1100 grafts. How many can they place in 2 hours??? The whole procedure took less than 3 hours...

I'll be posting pics of my donor scar as soon as I figure out how to make those damn pitures smaller... Any tips would be appreciated...

I'm furious not over money... We have limited donor hair that's already not enough and when you go to a doctor who's highly recommended by this site and others, this is what you get.

So Pat if you've read this. Will you be getting that guy's name off this website after the many many complaints about him????

3/4 inch scar from 1100 grafts? That seems huge. very bad in this day and age to get a large scar from just 1100 grafts....

Was that your first procedure ever?

I would like to see the photos of it.

The easiest way to shrink the photo is to load it up into a paintshop program and resize it and save it as a .jpg

If you need a decent graphics editor,

you can download paintshop program at http://www.jasc.com/ and they offer a trial version for free.
