  1. You look great! It's an imperfect world, particularly for us "hair challenged." Just be thankful you didn't have 11 relatively fruitless (hairless?) procedures, using the old plug method. I feel lucky that I had just enough donor hair to give me what I wanted. You've come a long way from your beginning, but it's always disappointing to feel skin instead of hair. "Oh, ye of little faith." bb
  2. I had a procedure by Dr. Kenneth Siporin a few weeks ago, and I must say I'm very happy. The usual itchy, gnawing, irritating sutures are hardly noticeable. The implanted hairs which are visible and very natural looking. This is a relief, since they are in the hairline. (I had the remainder placed in back of the hairline - 1350 total). I know the present transplants will fall and rest soon, but the "preview" is quite exciting. FINALLY!! If you're looking for an excellent cosmetic / hair restoration surgeon in Los Angeles, give Dr. Siporin a call.

  4. "A fool and his / her money.....
  5. You could contact Dr. Kenneth Siporin in W. Los Angeles. He is an accomplished hair transplant and reconstructive surgeon. His number is: 310.479.4247
  6. Normally, the Doctor gives you a pack that includes basetrazin for the donor area, and a copper peptide spray to keep the transplanted hairs moist and "nourished." He also can supply several packages of gauze pads that are specially designed to place on the transplant area. Maybe you could call your doctor to see if he could give these items, or recommend a place to purchase them. The copper peptide really relieves the itching, and helps keep your filthy mitts off the grafts.
  7. I regret the first part of my hair transplant journey: the plug and pay, and pay, and pay. What a tedious, frustrating process. Then, I found Dr. Siporin in West L.A. (via this forum). There was virtually no pain, he set out realistic and attainable goals, and his staff was extremely professional and effective. I guess I went hook, line and sinker for the stylish ads of the mid-80s, but I was lucky that I had enough donor hair left to make me very glad I gave it one more try.
  8. The only ones that come to mind are Dr Panatokas and Bosley. The Bosley name, as you have probably read, is a bit disconcerting. According to his webs site, Panatokas still does micro and mini grafts, so I think you can do better. His prices are quite high, which is the typical SF mark-up, so I think you can travel a little and get a lot more for your money.
  9. Make an appointment to see Dr. Siporin in West LA, while your searching for a great surgeon in So. Cal. From the bottom to the top his practice is caring, meticulous, and attentive. I'm very pleased I met with him and had my procedure done with him!
  10. I'm having a procedure (~1000 grafts) done with Dr. Siporin on Aug. 9th. Even though I never experienced problems w/ Bosley and Sword, I decided to step and see what a highly recommended hair doc. can do. I fell into the 1980s pit fall of smoke and mirrors, and I'm VERY glad that I found this web site as a resource. That doesn't guarantee results, but I feel much more confident this last time through. Rock on!
  11. You are not alone with the "it should only take two or three procedures" routine. I fell for it: the tedium of the plugs, bandages, and healing. Add to that the "touch-up," and you have a lot of years and disappointment behind you. However, I would "suck it up" and find the best surgeon for the last surgery. The FUT method is the way to go, and do not accept anything other than an excellent doctor who is proficient at performing it. You won't be sorry, and you'll finish your years happier and better looking.
  12. Dr. Siporin in West Los Angeles does very good work, according to this site.
  13. What are acceptable / unacceptable fees, for good surgeons?
  14. I have appointments to consult with Dr. Siporin in Beverly Hills and Dr. Straub in Torrance. I made an inquiry to Dr. McAndrew, and I received a sort of condescending e-mail from his staff that a consultation would be a non-refundable $100. Both Drs. Straub and Siporin contacted me personally and promptly. No extra charge for the alliteration.,
  15. The "hair restoration in California" film is from Dr. Sword's web site.
  16. 1986-90; I had great hopes in my 30s. The new method may be the "final solution." Thanks!!
  17. I'm about a 3 on the Norwood scale. I had approximately 1200 of the old plug grafts and 1500 FUTs w/ Dr Sword. Thanks!
  18. I had a good experience with Dr. Sword, but I've become a little nervous, after reading this site. I would like to have a little more work done, and I have contacted Drs Straub and Siporin for their recommendations. Both were very prompt and professional in their responses. I guess my quandary is that, since my "Sword experience" was initially successful, should I continue there? Maybe he's not the same doctor he was several years ago. Thanks!!
