  1. To be honest, its probably easier for me to tell my boss - seeing as he too is losing his hair. He wants to do something about it and is considering an HT too - that is probably once I've had mine. Do bear in mind, I still have some native hair and will probably not be shaving my scalp for the HT.
  2. Thanks - i appreciate the replies. I guess I will go through the weblogs more thoroughly to see how well others with thin hair have done. Having thin hair and hair loss sucks.
  3. Right now, only my mum and dad know that I am thinking about having one. Well, them and my boss - need to get sufficient time off work, if I have one.
  4. Hi, Having thin hair myself - I was wondering how good my chances are for achieving reasonable coverage and density? Or put another way how does an individual with thin hair fare for a HT? Would I look at having to raise my hair line a lot more than where it is currently at? -- Just in case my pics are here: http://hair-restoration-info.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/346...081066683#2081066683 I would also appreciate it if, others (with thin hair) who have had HT(s) could share their experience? Perhaps a link to their blog - Not all blogs give details about how thin an individuals hair is. Just trying to assess my chances... Thanks.

  6. Hi, I've been doing scalp exercises for a while - specifically the one described at: . http://www.hairloss-reversible.com/my_approach.htm . Which requires in one motion - you lower your eyebrows causing your scalp to move forward. The second motion requires you to use the muscles at the back of your scalp, near the eyes to pull the scalp back. Resulting in a to and fro movement of the scalp . I was wondering if this exercise can be continued after the HT - or would it effect the recovery of the scar - seeing as the scar is around the area near the ears? Thanks

  8. not just doctors - you say - how does that work?
  9. Is it possible for Doctors to look at a picture and determine how many grafts a patient will be able to yield? I'm sure I read something like this on the forum - but just wanted to clarify. thanks

  12. he looks pretty good now, even, given his age.
  13. badger - I have had a look at your weblog - I'm not sure how current those pics are - I speak of the last set - i guess 2 months into it. Now, I guess this is a mater of opinion, but i do not think you are in the ugly duckling stage - it does not appear to be as such to me in any case. I say this because, if I look at your pics prior to your HT, your hair was longer - 2 months later you hair is shorter (for obvious reasons from the top). But to me it appears to blend in with the rest of your hair such that you look like any other guy i've seen who is losing his hair. Your 2 month pics I think , personally, look better than the pre op pics. That said, If i buzz my hair, it looks worse than it does now - because the loss at the front becomes much more evident. I just wonder if I keep the hair at the length that I have or even shorter - how much of a difference that would make?
  14. thanks guys. How long does this stage last for? Or does that too also vary for people? Does it also depend on where you have the hair transplanted? For example - I might have about 2500 grafts on the frontal third. I have some native hair, that is typically 2-2.5 inches in length. In fact these are links to the current state of my hair: . My Hair . With the type of hair that I have would i be able to lessen the effects of the ugly duckling stage - or is this something that does not matter? I do not plan to have my head shaved for the transplant. If I do go through with this, I will have it done in december this year (subject to more research). I then have a wedding to attend in perhaps march or April - i dont want to worse than I do now for that. Though I guess i'll have to find some way to miss it, if need be. thanks again.
  15. Bill, just wondering, you mentioned earlier that in fact only a small percentage of people experiencing hair loss end up a norwood 7 - where did you get this info from? Or is this a day to day observation. You generally run into people who are in some stage of hair loss as opposed to seeing people who are flat out norwood 7's?
  16. Hmmm, I sort of have the same thing but to a lesser extent - See over time as I've lost density to my hair - I've also lost that from the sides too - So much so, that after I've showered - or basically when my hair is wet you can see a bit of skin near the side burns area - and I do not mean the area were my temples are. Well for what its worth here are my pics again: . http://hair-restoration-info.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/346...721076683#5721076683
  17. Hi All, Reading through some posts I have always come across this term. I'm just a bit confused what this actually means? Is it because of the redness that remains on the scalp for some time? Is it because of shock loss that occurs that results in you looking more balder than you were going into the transplant - i.e the loss of native hair? . Initially I thought people made a reference to this as being a loss in the transplanted hairs. For example an individual going into a HT, has no frontal hair and no hair on the top (keep forgetting what that is - vertex??) Well lets say they have a little bit of hair - diffuse - kind of here there but not everywhere. Now at a short length with the transplanted hair in - it would seem like they might have restored the loss they had - here and there is now everywhere. But then eventually they lose those transplanted hairs - and thus the ugly duckling stage/period has begun? . Or is it when someone has quite a bit of native hair - perhaps an inch or two in length and then the transplanted hair begins to grow. Is it the mixture of these new short hairs with the existing long native hair what is referred to as the ugly ducking period/stage/phase - (if what I;'ve described makes sense) . Thanks

  19. my apologizes I meant he also had hair weaving done. Here is the link I posted earlier: . Salman Cannot Go Bald Now .
  20. I agree with you all - I too take notice of hair loss. Not because it satisfies be that someone else shares the same pain as I do . But just I guess I'm just curios about the pattern/type of loss etc. That said, I don't do it while I am in conversation with them. This reminds me of another annoyance - something I experienced the other day. Someone will say "Hey you're going bald", or hey "you're losing your hair". People stating the obvious.....man i'd love to rock bottom them.....if you can smell what i'm cookin..
  21. do some more research on salman khan - it is not all a hair transplant - he also has extensions. I posted this with a link in one of the discussions that involved him - check that out.
  22. This still confuses me - which i guess is why i need to do more research. Why will a HT look bad in the long run? Lets say someone is happy with having a high hair line and density is not much of an issue. If you are to bald further, would you not just look like any other normal person who is in some stage of hair loss? If we look around and the various people we know who are balding, or just people on the streets - although the pattern for hair loss is the same - do they just not all look like normal balding people? loss at the crown , loss at the temples, loss in the frontal third? I know guys who have a strong hair line - but loss at the crown. I know guys who have hair loss at the front but a solid crown. then there are guys who have diffuse type pattern - wherein their hair line is in tact but the entire front/top is thinned out. Now if one were to get a hair transplant - with a high hair line and not much density. Wouldn't further hair loss just make that person look like they have begun to lose hair - doesn't that still look better than someone who has lost most of their hair?
  23. Hi All, I was going through some old pictures and came across one of my cousins - who is balding - or well i guess would be classified as being bald. I noticed he also has a lot of loss on the sides - not the typical crown and frontal area. He of course has never taken any meds for his hair loss. That said, he is a few years older than I am and I am not sure i will bald to the extent he has - at least with respect to the sides. But this is what concerns me. The loss of density on the sides makes his scalp visible (in certain places) especially if there is bright lighting in the room. Now assuming I undergo a hair transplant - I would be looking to target my frontal third and then perhaps in time the crown. The question, though, is what happens if i lose density/hair from the sides too? . 1. Can hair be transplanted in the sides or is it only the frontal third and crown areas? . 2. If i were to have hair loss in the sides, would the scar from my first HT be visible? Thanks.
