  1. I'm Rogaine-only. 5% Rogaine branded liquid (I don't like the foam) I'm at the end of my 3rd month and I'm pretty happy with the results. I had very mild recession with temples thinning and receding, I noticed an improvement within 2 weeks, with fine baby hair (my hair is black, so it was visible) and now some of it is full-thickness and others are thickening. Other people have noticed. I have no problem with my crown and I don't apply it there - it's all frontal. I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like I'm getting more hairy in general. I think the fine hairs on my upper cheeks are slightly thicker, as are hairs on my arms. Nothing too bad though. It doesn't even bother me 0.01% I don't use finasteride or anything else. I don't have Nizoral or Revita, but I use a Chinese brand of anti-hairfall Shampoo with Jackie Chan on the front. Myonly concern is that some people say Rogaine loses effectiveness after a few years. I'm glad to see someone had been using it for 9 years.
  2. Seems like it's stopping the loss, but Rogaine might help with regrowth.
  3. People don't ask me, but I sometimes tell people "I'm losing my hair!", if we're talking about getting old.
  4. I know it was nothing psychological, because I wasn't even slightly considering that it might happen, and I didn't even notice at first - my girlfriend pointed it out to me. Even then I didn't relate it to the Finasteride until a while later. I also noticed that my unconscious erections were acting up, like no morning wood, but almost like clockwork erections about 6pm. My prostate ached from time to time, which is something that never happened in my life. Also, even if weak erections are psychological, I don't think watery semen is a psychosomatic symptom.
  5. No, because there are people who have been on it since the start and are still on it ans still happy with it.
  6. I got 3 boxes of proscar to send overseas to my brother. I was thinking about keeping one and trying it again in a tiny, tiny dose... but you guys have scared me out of it. My sides came on, then went away and I've been pretty stable since. I'm worried if I try it again, whether it works and I stay on or not, I might be struck by the inability to get wood, suddenly when it really matters.
  7. Is the Ketaconazole the only thing that makes Nizoral a good product for hairloss? I'm thinking about getting an alternative 2% ketaconazole shampoo, because it's difficult to get Nizoral where I am.
  8. I can understand that LEDs don't help, because they're just LEDs, and they're really not that powerful. And I do believe lasers could help as I read about using radiation, light radiation especially, to "reset" cells in a science journal years and years ago. It's just that the hairmax comb really is expensive... I was thinking about getting a 3rd party one. What do you think if I find one that has all lasers and no LEDs? Do you know if the frequency of the laser is a big part of it? I could take a look and test it before I buy it... I don't have any itching or irritation to get rid of, though.
  9. Caesar - do you think if someone gets sides, they're going to get sides no matter how small the dosage? Like it's an all or nothing thing?
  10. Interesting article. Is there any particular reason why you don't suggest 3rd party combs?
  11. Are you getting better at all, though? Hope things get better for you. I was considering re-trying Fin, but I'm having second thoughts now.
  12. I have started applying it directly to my head, but it's still mostly getting caught on my hair. Maybe I'm just not bald enough to be using the foam or something.
  13. If you had sides on Propecia, you're even more likely to have them on Proscar.
  14. Some people would disagree. There are people who claim to have permanent ED from Fin, and there are doctors in Sweden or somewhere doing a study on that.
  15. So are you trying to push through and adjust, Brentipold? Or you gave up completely the second time, too? Are you back to normal yet?
  16. I'm using it for frontal thinning and receding temples and I'm pretty happy with it so far. My temple hairline is fuzzing up a bit and the vellus hairs are growing longer. I've been on it 2 months and I'm hoping it'll get even better in the future. Don't know about the t-gel, I don't use it but the Minoxidil doesn't irritate my skin anyway.
  17. I've heard it can take a month to a month and a half. It's scary, right? Let me know how it works out as I'm also considering re-trying it on a far lower dose.
  18. I just got a re-up of Rogaine, but the guy who sells it kept asking me to try the foam (it's the same price). I said no, since I'm used to the liquid, but he gave me a free can of foam to try it out. I've been using the foam in the morning and the liquid at night for a few days now. To be completely honest, I'm not impressed by the foam at all. Pros: it is marginally less tricky to apply Cons: it's hard to get the measurement right it's hard to get it out of the cap after measuring a lot of it is caught on the hair, rather than reaching the scalp (and my hair is less than a cm long right now. But it might be easier to apply to bald spots.) it's not actually all that foamy so it quickly melts
  19. I know it hasn't be proven and there may be conflicts of interest on websites that sell it, but has anyone here actually used it?
  20. I don't know as much as the other guys here, but from personal experience, Rogaine has been very good for me. I'm nearing the end of my second bottle (liquid, not foam) and the difference is quite noticable. You can ask your doctor to write you a prescription for Proscar, but it's a prostate medicine, so it could mess with your insurance. You're probably just better off buying some online - some of the other guys here might be able to recommend a good site. it doesn't have to be Proscar brand, a generic might be fine, too. I don't know what the prices are there, but I paid US$11 for 10 pills, which would last over a month.
  21. Aim for preventing more loss, but if you're lucky it'll grow more. See if you can get some Proscar and cut it into 1/4s, it's the same stuff, but higher doses.
  22. OK, sorry for being nosy. But depending on the sides you get, it's not just erection problems. If it affects your libido, it's naturally going to affect your sex life. Even if it's rare, I'm presuming as you get older, it'll become more of a part of your life. However, in your case it might even make things easier if you're not "out" and you don't even find yourself attracted to anyone. About the cancer risk - studies are totally mixed. Some say there could be more risk, some say it actually helps prevent prostate cancer, so it's all still up in the air.
  23. Fair enough. Personally, I'm pretty open about it. I just started, but even before I started I told people I was going to start. Of course I also ended up telling people why I stopped the finasteride... For one, I don't think there should be any stigma about using medication to keep one's hair, or somehow imply that a person who naturally keeps his hair is somehow better than one who doesn't. Outside of that, I figure of the hair is growing out of my head, it's real, it's mine and I'm not bald, so I don't care how it got there. I might be more secretive about a wig (sorry, "hair system"), because the purpose of that is deception.
  24. I mean in your daily life, if some colleagues say your hair is looking good or something, do you say "yeah, this Propecia is good"? Or do you try to play it off as all natural?
  25. Took about 3 weeks to get back to normal. I could still get hard, but it wasn't as "strong" and it took a bit more work. It certainly wasn't how I usually am. Like Brentipold, I'm thinking about restarting on a lower dose, although I'm pretty happy with Rogaine at the moment. I might try 1/4 of a proscar once a week or something.
