  1. Montrose02, I recently had a procedure performed by Dr. Lindsey whose in the DC area. You can check out by blog to see how my progress is going. I've been happy with my results. As I recommend to everyone, do a lot of research. This website is a great resource. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
  2. Wow, that's a remarkable change and you only had one procedure! Congratulations, your results are awesome!!
  3. Headinahole, You do seem to be experiencing a little bit of shockloss near the donor area. This actually is quite normal. You should start to notice your native hair start regrowing in a couple months. In regards to your scar, your scar looks pretty good for 3 weeks post op. The right side is less noticeable than the right side but I imagine both sides will improve over time. Did you have a tricho closure on your donor scar?
  4. Vijay, Congratulations on your procedure! It looks like you didn't experience much shock loss. Your hair cut with the transplanted area actually blended pretty good so the HT isn't noticeable. Your results are going to be really good!
  5. Congratulations Wantego! Your results are awesome. You have seen such growth from directly post-op to 5 months. Your 1 year mark is going to be unbelievable!
  6. Edge, I recommend trying to get Toppik or Dermatch asap. You will need to practice applying it before going back to work. I actually like Dermatch better. I've used Toppik and make-up to conceal my HT.
  7. I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather Imissme. I'm also at the 2 month mark also and I just buzzed my hair down using a zero guard. There are ways to camaflouge the scar. I've actually used make-up (skin color) to blend the scar more to match my skin type. My scar is still pretty red. My hair is black so I then dab my finger in the black Toppik and tap my scar with my finger which helps the scar look more buzzed. I was actually surprised how well this worked. Even with a buzz head I couldn't tell were the scar was located. If all else fails, wear a hat.
  8. Rome your hair length is similiar length as my hair so I would be very cautious about doing a strip procedure. I think a strip procedure will get you the density in your crown area but I worry about your scar being visible. You will have to wear your hair longer than the length in the picture. See my blog for pics. I'm also African American and I looked into a FUE procedure but I was told I wasn't a good candidate because African American hair is very curly which makes FUE very difficult. I only discussed FUE with one doctor so you may want to talk to a couple doctors to get feedback. I also tried propecia and didn't like the side effects. I'm not sure where they get their statistics regarding that drug because I think they need to do another survey... ha ha ha.
  9. Outof I understand your feelings about the strip scar. I recently had a revision done to my scar because I wasn't pleased with my original scar. My scar revision was done with a tricho-closure unlike my original scar. I chose the tricho-closure revision because I'm hoping that hair will grow through the scar so it isn't so visible. I'm actually sporting a buzz cut until the shockloss from procedure is gone. I wouldn't say this revision would remove my scar but more likely would give me a better chance to have a thinner scar which may be covered with my short hair. Don't let the scar depress you too much. There are ways to over come a bad scar so just do some research and put together a plan to improve your scar. This site is full of helpful information and experienced doctors and patients. I'm only 2 months post-op from my scar revision so it's still too early to tell how much of a success my procedure will be. My scar is already much thinner than my previous scar and I'm starting to have some hairs grow through. Good luck with whatever decision you make!
  10. Thanks for the comments Eman! I've been tracking your results since we have the same surgery anniversary. You are progressing really good and your scar looks excellent! I haven't lost too many hairs and I'm contemplating going back to the buzz look. I think the shockloss wouldn't be as noticeable. All and all it's all good!
  11. I hit the 2 month mark on 11/25. It feels like it's been longer but I guess that's because I'm trying to rush those hairs to grow. Not much has changed since last month which is expected. Transplanted area still has little to no shock loss so that's a plus. Scar area is still healing. I think I'm experiencing shock loss near the scar preventing full coverage. I'm still using toppik to hide the scar. I did notice hairs growing through the scar in various areas. It feels weird when the hair grows through the scar. Normally I get the pimple in the scar and then the hairs grow through. Signing off until month 3.....

  13. Your scar area looks great Eman and you have healed well! Congratulations on being able to ditch the hat.
  14. Looking good tommyf! Your results are going to be awesome!
  15. fusion47, I flew from VA to TX the morning after my surgery with no problems. I do recommend getting a travelers pillow. It's very useful the first couple days after the surgery. Most airport security don't ask you to remove hats or scarfs from your head. This helps keep the surgery from being so noticeable in the airport and on the plane. Have a safe trip!
  16. royover, One positive thing I noticed is you don't have any redness in the donor area. Don't worry about the shockloss. We all are going through it or have gone through it.
  17. Thanks for showing detailed pics from your transplants! Your progression looks good!
  18. Super, I agree with the comments above. You have significant growth and you are only at the 4 months. Your next few months should be even better. I've had 3 procedures so I know you can see big changes from the 4 month mark until one year. The best is yet to come!
  19. Wow, there was quite a change from 3 months to 4 months. Congratulations, looks good!
  20. Congratulations Badger_01!! You are already seeing great growth at 5 months. I can't wait until my 5 month mark. Thanks for the motivation!
  21. Eman, I'm glad you started this blog topic because I have the same concerns. Since this is my 3rd surgery, I decided to take the extra conservative route and I haven't worked out for a month also. I think I'm going to wait 1 more week since I see my Dr. next week for a scar exam. I noticed that if I lay on the bench my scar area is still sensitive so I'm just doing the stairs, push-ups and the machines. I can't wait to get back to the free weights. My advice is to just be careful and take care of your investment (The HT).
  22. Eman you are progressing well! Don't worry about the shockloss. It's just the first indicator of good things to come! I think you come up with the best names for the hair situations we go through after the transplant. 1. In a previous blog, You named the hair style directly after the surgery "The Bozo look". I totally agree and I hate I had to wear that style. 2. Calling the scar line a "smilely face" had me lol. Keep the updates coming!
  23. Thanks for all the comments guys! I look at my head in the mirror so much it feels like it's been 1 year.
  24. My weblog Posted updated 1 month post-op pics. The buzz cut is gone and I'm letting the hair grow in to see how much shockloss I'll have and how much coverage I can get on the donor scar. So far no shockloss or at least not much. Hair has grown long enough to cover the scar yet. I'm scheduled to see Dr. Lindsey in a couple weeks to examine the donor area. The journery continues.....
