  1. Joe, did you use 5% Minoxidil post op along with Propecia? I didn't know you could get that kind of growth only 5 weeks out from strip surgery. Very interesting. best,WWH
  2. I'd like to talk to you about the process you went thru. my email is rthaler11@hotmail.com, thanks a bunch, WWH
  3. Arfy, I agree. There is way too much frenetic and anecdotal opinion on these sites sometimes. The other site can at times be dominated by that. I myself had a recent 500 FUE session but will reserve judgement for 6 months to a year. its just not fair to anyone else. Sure I will post pictures soon but I think that you are right. Many people are recommending doctors right after their surgery and this is mostly emotional stuff. In the end, it is a large body of well taken photographic results of mature patients that is so important. It is talking to patients on the phone and if at all possible, meeting them and the doctor. It involves research and it can involve dissappointment. all the best,WWH
  4. Anyone know how I can get Avodart or Dutasteride? thanks, WWH
  5. Dr Feller, when you say this is characteistic of vertical or lateral slits does this mean that the grafts are not placed as high with needle planting as with slit planting?
  6. Thanks for your post and pictures. What are the white nodules above the incision lines? Is this characteristic of the lateral slit or are you planting the follicles higher out of the holes so they are more exposed? What is the reason for this. It is a different technique than I have seen from some other doctors. Thanks, best, WWH
  7. My opinion is rather than take too much advice from anonymous posters on a website, why not talk to a doctor who is doing the procedures? Dr Rob Jones in Toronto has done between 40 and 50 of these 500 a session FUE procedures over the last 2 to 3 months and is scheduling them out now into next year. I would call and talk to him about your exact situation, age, classification, etc. and send him a photo over the internet. I beleive he will be honest with you. I also beleive that in the near future this will be a very common question for men who have some thinning and are looking for thickening work. I suspect the technology has now evolved to make this possible but each case must be regarded on its own by a dialogue between the patient and the doctor. There are many on these sites who are very skeptical of this approach, but their stage of baldness may be more advanced or they may be victims of bad minigrafting 'touchups' from 10 years ago. There emotional reaction to such a prospect is entirely understandable but shouldn't discount the progress made recently in hairtransplantation. I myself am biased as I have had a procedure recently with Dr Jones of 500 FUE. best to you, next step is to discuss this with a doctor doing the procedure, WWH
  8. Harry, the best way to find out is try a small order of their Viagra substitute. You'll know in 20 minutes if they are for real.
  9. this is a very real question in my opinion. I really don't think doctors know much about this phenomena or how to predict it. Is it related to the trauma of the strip in the back? The anesthetic? Or is it just related to local trauma in the planting area? I think there are differing opinions on this and the debate and discussion will continue. I'd like to hear a dialogue on this site between doctors about it. hope you heal up real well, all the best, WWH
  10. Hollywood can be a stressful place. They tell me that King Kong in the sequel had some work done. They used whole swaths of buttock hair to fill in his lower brow area andO give him more of a menacing look. Controling the anesteshia was a real problem though and they lost a half a dozen good doctors on that one. Mr Ed definitely went overboard and insisted on having his entire Mane restitched. Had to have 3 sessions before they got it right. Rin Tin Tin spent so much time licking himself on set that his scrotum was bald by the second year. They had to move some muzzle hair down South it seems. The Vet that did that job got an Emmy for best hair and makeup that year.
  11. Who cares? A celebrity is just an ordinary person with a very highly paid publicist. Why not hang out down at the local greyhound station and ask people in the ticket lines who does there work? Tom Arnold is a completely ordinary Yokel, why do people even care? Notice that they never give a top or rear view of his head and when they accidentally do, then look at it. The camera on a set, like the publicity is always carefully controled.
  12. I just finished a 500 graft Fue with him and can tell you he was very thorough, professional, honest, direct and low key and has an excellent and friendly staff. He even turned down my request to put 250 more in since he beleived that unnecessary. Most definitely I would consult with him and call his office and consult with as many doctors as you fell comfortable. Depending on how much work you need I would recommend the FUE procedure but thats something for you and him to talk about. all the best,WWH
  13. I just completed my first touch up session of 500 grafts over 7 hours yesterday with Robert Jones in Toronto. I wanted to restore some of my front hairline and fill in some of the recession. I am Norwood 2 at 52 years of age and have researched these sites extensively to find a doctor who I felt would best serve my needs. Dr Jones is very honest and forthcoming and thorough. He is now dedicating most of his practice to FUE. For extraction he uses a 1mm shallow punch and then loosens the follicle by perforating around it when needed using a 27 guage needle. In my case I wouldn't have been a FUE candidate for NHI since my follicles were slightly splayed on the end rendering them difficut to pull out, but with Dr Js technique we extracted all of them with only 3% transection rate. The procedure was nearly painless requiring no tumescense and minimal bleeding. The recipient site was created with mostly 20 guage needles and some 22 guage though this is dependent upon the diameter of ones hair shaft. My hair diameter is approximately 52 microns. Finer hair could use finer needles, coarser hair could probably best accomadate lower guage needles. This probably would be slightly different from patient to patient. I suspect now that it may be possible that a new area of minimally invasive hairtransplation will be available for the millions of people like me who have had some thinning and hair loss with time but who don't need or will not entertain the large megasessions offered by many of the clinics. This is not to post against strip surgery only to say that for some candidates it may simply be unnecessary. best to all, should anyone wish to contact me I'm at rthaler11@hotmail.com. My opinions are entirely independent of any clinic or Dr, I'm just trying to help those in the same way I was helped while researching these sites over thelast months.

  15. What you might be experiencing is actual new growth due to the Propecia. New hairs may be pushing the old hairs out of the follicle, therefore I would continue to use the medication. See Dr Lee's explanation of this on Hairlosshelp.com under ask an expert. It could just be signaling that its beginning to work for you.
  16. Who knows but this thread is long and getting longer by the follicular unit. We are into a full blown megasesssion on this one and may even set a record. So do you like the work done on Nick Cage's dome? He still looks like a balding rodent in heat if you ask me. The work done is all ass backwards. He should begin with a face transplant and then proceed to a talent transplant before getting any dome work done but that is only my opinion. You know you could fool everybody WW and do an end run around the entire thread by getting FUEs. If you do that then the discussion of microscopic dissection is moot since it is unnecessary in that procedure as I understand it. But this depends on how much time and money you have and also if you turn that leaf over you can expect a dozen new posts from Jotronic asking you why? This thread is becoming infinitely amusing. But it will cease to be so if you should slip back into the darkness and slide down into the Bos. chair. I hope that fantasy has been laid to rest, Jotronic really did you a major service in time and information by alerting you to that operation. Then again if you really want instant thickness you could always buy a tightly woven rug out of Kabul, cut it to size, dye it to match skin tones and then get a union grade garment worker to sew it own for scale. This route offers a wide selection of geometric designs, colors and weaves and you could probably go 2 for the price of one if you found the right bazaar on Ramadan, their discount pricing should begin when monthly fasting initiates on Dec 1st.
