  1. I was wondering if there is any chance of electrolysis harming non-targeted hairs. ie: I want to have some hairs in the frontal region removed without targeting hairs directly around it. Is this risky or is this a very precise technique? Any opinions are highly appreciated.

  3. Bumps could be shocked hair growing back...
  4. Does FUE leave any type of scarring? Most doctors say "No" but wanted to hear first hand. If not, is there any explanation why? I was told sutures would not scar and now I have two rows of dotted scars...
  5. How severe is your scarring? I have some scarring but I'm not sure how bad it is in comparison.
  6. Where did you guys have work done?
  7. What do you mean by excess scarring? Can you give an example? I am in the same position and currently thinking of electolysis over FIT/FUE... Not 100% sure which way to go but my impression was that electrolysis would leave fewer markings. I do have some pitting and scarring in my temples so not sure which avenue to take. Do you have experience with both FIT and elec?
  8. Arson, Listen closely. I was in a similar predicament and thought a HT was the answer after trying everything. If you think your life is bad now, let me tell you, getting a HT with your condition will make you wish you could be back where you are now. Do not do this, the sad fact of the matter is that currently there is no answer to your problem and a HT is no solution. Don't make a bad decision. If you want to do it, seriously wait. For me, getting a HT has accelerated hair loss everywhere else and left me with less than I had before even after the surgery... The hair behind has receded beyond the grafts, my scalp is scarred and there is really no way to get back to where I was.
  9. Any opinion on a tanning salon? I don't know much about them but that was the option I was considering since it is winter. Is this a safe alternative or a potentially bad idea? I feel a tan would definitely make things blend together better in appearance.
  10. About 5 years now... No regrowth but it seems to have slowed recession somewhat
  11. I noticed at about 6 months post op, the original healthy head of hair I had behind the receding areas is now thinning out quite a bit. I believe this is somehow related to the original operation since I have read many posts like this. Is this normal to see at the 6 month period? Will it continue or is it something that might reverse itself? I'm a little confused, if only this was mentioned when I was sold on the procedure...

  13. Is tanning bad for a HT? I am about 6 months post op and shaved my head (the grafts were not placed well so I decided to just shave). The donor scar is still a little pink and I was wondering if tanning my head would be a good or bad idea. Since there is no sun this time of year, I was thinking of a tanning salon and just wanted to make sure I wasn't making a bad move (I can't afford any more of those).... Any thoughts?

  15. Thanks for the 411. Re: threats... Doesn't anyone understand sarcasm anymore?! I don't think anyone is taking this seriously... I thought it was quite funny in fact. A lawsuit seems like the way to go. I think many people have been ripped off and lied to by Bosley and I think the fact that no one has attempted this so far is quite interesting.
  16. LOL! Some funny stories. But in all seriousness, I shave my head close and need a real excuse since I'm not ready to come out of the HT closet. I was thinking sports injury causing a slice-wound to the head (I have a 5 inch straight line). Just wondering since I have some doctor friends if the type of suturing etc... would make for a credible story or if it's the best way to go... I have suture marks below the scar which are also noticeable.
  17. LOL. I agree... but I'll save going postal if nothing else works
  18. I was wondering if there was anyone else there who felt like pursuing a refund and perhaps other damages for being mislead and permanently scarred by Bosley Medical. Has anyone tried this or consulted with a lawyer? It seems like a class-action lawsuit must have at least been considered before. I am considering speaking with a lawyer but was wondering if anyone has had any experience here? If anyone is interested in pursuing this, I would also like to hear your thoughts.

  20. Anyone have a good excuse/story for how they got their scar? The last thing I'd want to say is... "I got a HT"... Just curious as to what stories people use to explain things. I have suture scars above and below my scar so it seems like I need a story that would warrant that type of stitching in that area and that type of scar...

  22. Hi Dr Limmer, thanks for the help. Do you mean that I have to wait another 3-4 months for scar revision and then possible another 12 months on top of that before attempting to FUE/FIT into the scar (or are you referring to FUE/FIT process?). I was originally hoping to revise the scar over the next few months and then attempt FUE/FIT around 1 year or so after the revision depending on healing. I am noticing many posts claiming that the older the scar, the better the chance of FIT/FUE growing in that scar (though this seems to be based on theory only at this point). This might suggest the 1 year period after the revision might also be too soon. If both are right, then I might be looking at (3-4 months of original scar healing) + (1 year revised scar healing) + (6 months for FUE/FIT to regrow) = 2 years before I can fix things The location of the scar makes it very difficult to hide and is really affecting my lifestyle in a negative way but I know that things should not be rushed, I just can't wait to get back to a more normal life that I remember.
  23. Dr Limmer. Thanks for your reply. Do you have any suggestions on a doctor I could see to have this procedure done? I find the comments on irregularity very interesting and seem to make sense. I also have some spotted scars below and above the scar line from the sutures. The scars are also still slightly red/pink after 4 months. Do you think it's ok to go through with a procedure to repair the scar at this period or should more time elapse? matthew: Unethical? Yes I believe so now looking back, a mistake on my part and something I regret looking back. I went to a hair mill, they showed me scar examples which I know now are only best case scenarios. Nothing I can do now but look forwards and try to make sure my decisions to repair what has happened are well researched
