  1. not everyone needs 50 grafts per centimeter. Dr. Bernstein himself on this forum has said he never goes over 25 per. It will depend on the quality of the hair and the thickness, and Dr. B. is known to be conservative and give a "thin"appearance. It would be nice if you went into a doc's office and he had a couple of dolls heads, each one with a certain amount of coverage on the scalp,(assuming shiny bald) one representing a 25 per centimeter procedure, one 35 per, one 50 per. Have brought up this topic many times and got a few responses, but not enough...
  2. i'd like to see what pat has to say about these pics, 1500 just isn't enough i don't think, maybe should cut a bit shorter
  3. just curious if anone will be attending the woods seminar?

  5. pro fue, but not perfected yet, still evolving
  6. i've heard it can change the pigmentation to the grafts
  7. i totally agree that there is nothing like a live patient, but taking a few pics, front, side, and top w/ the right lighting(exposing the bad, AND showing the good) can tell you much of the big picture. many people here say and i agree that someone should not be held down by location, and don't be afraid to jump on a plane to get what you want. Well a few quick pics, you may see someone w/ a very similar pattern of hair loss to yours, and you may see a metamorphisis and someone looking 10 years younger. then on the other hand you may see that the person w/ the same pattern really doesn't look all that good, now after his 2nd procedure, still not so good. Basically what i am saying is that talk is helpful, but cheap. Someone putting up his pictures bad or good can save someone alot of $ in travel, alot of time and maybe not, but just maybe a whole lot of heartache.
  8. thanks for the input and the pics rugs!(no pun)
  9. Why do so few people on this site(and others) not take pictures of their work? If someone has the $ for a computer, and on top of that has the resources for a tranplant or 5, i find it hard to believe that most of the people having "great experiences" don't have a digital camera or can't scan in a traditional picture. When some is inquiring about a certain doctor, especially ones that are touted on the many sites, there are always 4-10 people, sometimes more, who after a given amount of time say the staff was secong to none! Dr. so and so is the bomb! I love what i see so far! Well, sorry, but not enough for me. There are ceratin docs who have very big practices, and they have plenty of pics on their sites, now obviously these pictures and individuals are "cherry picked" to a point, but how are we to know how many of their patients come out looking that good. As I have heard before, there is an occasional homerun with the fleming/mayer flap, but for the most part the big operation is most likely batting 2-300? What is the batting avg of the great ht docs? Jo and fuzy have started something that has benefitted many of us and i can't belive more people don't do the same(there are more but those 2 jumped out quick). Do you think that many of the "great experiences" when all is said and done are producing mediocre results that are evident to the trained eye(which MANY people are now)? and the patient doesn't want to express any discontent and give the doc a bad name? I don't know why so few people do not post photos, but as god as my witness, when i get back in the chair, you guys will hear and SEE whats happening to my melon. If you talk the talk, walk the walk....

  13. what i quoted about the hairline jo was what spencer kobren says on his radio show about finasteride. For some reason, when merck filed w/ the fda for propecia, they did not need to say it worked for the hairline so they didn't go that route.(More studies means more $ to spend) But since they launched proecia, all anecdotal(not sure about spelling) evidence points to it having effects on crown and hairline, not necessarily growing, but maintaining. Could be wrong, but thats coming from spencer, good luck on the upcoming surgery jo, PEACE
  14. doesn't look to diffuse to me, but i am not a physician. Stay on the propecia for a while, if no results, i would see if dr b would play w/ the dose of finasteride for you. 23 is way too young to consider transplant, you still have plenty of hair, stay religious w/ the drug, good luck.
  15. i would post that question in the ask the physician section, and have him call dr shapiro's office too, don't think he reponds to questions here
  16. 1st of all don't "stay on top of your" hairline by jumping into transplants. Go see your dermatologist, or get one, and get on propecia. Not to say that it will regrow your hairline, but in most patients does a good job of fending off the recession and its progression. Then by all means read this forum and others mention by different people on this site. If after educating yourself, you want to go the transplant route, then you will be much wiser as to the horror stories that some people have experienced, as well as some successes. 1)get on propecia 2)read, read, read
  17. 800-1000 is not right, you will not be happy w/ the result. STOP, rethink, regroup, talk to jotronic, my amateur opinion would be 2-3000 for you to be happy, i'm surprised Dr Rose couldn't give you any sort #, but it certaily doesn't seem like this Dr. Pistone has your best interests in mind, so don't go monday!!
  18. that guy has messed up so many men, and we all know it! So he's moved on to women
  19. DUDE, i think everyone that has responded to you has said DON'T do it, so did the guy who went to school for like 50 million years and is respected as one of the top 3 in the USA. Guarranteed(bad spelling) you will thank your lucky stars for listening to the idiots like me, or you can antie up and help pay for the ride. Doing so could ruin your life, ESPECIALLY with the gomer pyles you are thinking of going to. I dare someone to tell me i'm wrong!!
  20. go to your dermatologist and get on propecia. Stay away from anyone willing to do any surgery on you, you are TOO YOUNG, and don't know whats going to happen over the next 5-10 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See what meds can do and bide your time, bar none, no ifs, ands, or buts!
  21. frm what i hear, 2 weeks would be even better, when i had mine it was 97' and took off 1 week, but had the 2 weekends also and you would have been hard pressed to know. But the work was done on the crown so...
  22. both of you should contact the docs that worked on you, who were they?
  23. I did drive myself home after my last procedure. Upon receiveing the sedatives, which i honestly don't remember the meds, but was one particular med plus a valium under the toungue at the onset of the procedure. When i drove home was probrably 6 hours later and felt as awake as i did as when i walked in that a.m. Looking back and being older and wiser, was not the smartest move. And by the way was stuck in traffic in manhattan going home for 2 1/2hours which would be 1/2 hour w/ no traffic.
  24. sorry, got my grammar and typing degree by filling out a form on the back of a mac and cheese box
