  1. BUT, as he had disasterous frontal work and wanted to shave his head for the forseeable future, he opted for scar revision and I agreed with his reasoning.

I shave my head for the exact same reason. To me it's the lesser of 2 evils to have the scar showing rather than the bad HT work I had done. Although the scar makes me extremely selfconcious.

I do agree however that the scar was not all that bad but only he can make the decision based on how much the scar bothered him.

  2. Im not sure what you want him to say? If there was news Im sure you'd all have heard by now. Would you rather hear a bunch of B.S? Be patient if it works out we'll hear about it, but if it doesnt Im sure we'll still hear about it as well. I think Dr. Cooley has proven himself trustworthy up to this point.

  3. Cody,

Unfortunatley at such a young age you have a very extensive amount of loss, which mean the likelyhood of you becoming a NW6 or 7 is great. Because of this you are NOT a good candidate for hair transplants and anybody who tells you that you are is flat out crazy! Yes you could have a procedure done and may even be happy with the results for the short term but in the long run you will continue to lose hair and it will eventually look unnatural.

2 things to consider however! 1st shaving your head is in style and it looks as though you have a nicely shaped head for this paticular type of hair cut, and 2nd because you are so young- you have time on your side and they are vigerously working on a "cure" for MPB because there is so much demand for it. So PLEASE dont make any harsh decisions at this point. Shave your head and move on until there are better options!! Just my opinion. Good Luck!!

  4. mrcool20, 1st off I would take it because if your thinning up front, down the road you may start to thin outin the back.

2nd I agree with mmhce. I believe Propecia and minox also help with the front as well as the back. Just not as well. While I believe that propecia can stop crown loss altogether and maybe grow some hair back, I also believe that it just slows down loss in the front 1/3rd which is a definate benefit. I have no proof that this is the case but I can tell on my own head that there is a clear differance between the frontal 1/3rd and the back 2/3rds and Im a diffuse thinner which means I should thin out evenly thru out the whole top of my head. I have slowly "almost unnoticabley" been thinning on the front 1/3rd since I started propecia, and havent lost any hair in the back 2/3rds but before propecia I was thinning rapidly through out

  5. azn_guy_001,

What did Dr. Cooley say about how long to keep the sutures in ? I know that sometimes if you wait to long it can have the opposite effect and actually make the scar worse by leaving "tracks". If Dr. Cooley recommended Biofine then I would go with that. If you exercise I would wait a month or so before returning to any strenuous routines. I've also heard that vitamin E oil works well for scars and also wheat germ oil has been recommended as well. These both may be about the same as Biofine though. Maderma is overated.
