  1. Hi Bill, thanks for your kind words. I'm a 31yo and on meds. Propecia stopped my hairloss in 2002, I also use the rogaine-2%-spray.
  2. This one will turn out great, Azza. As we say in Germany: "Ich habe das im Urin". (It's in my urine) :-)
  3. Sorry, Bill - it really doesn't work. I use Windows Explorer and Windows XP
  4. Hey Bill, your animated graft calculator doesn't work. Sorry! I didn't get a total.
  5. In our german forum we saw several turkish guys, who had work done by turkish clinics. In my opinion there are only a few docs that stand for continuously good results - but I think there are many, many butchers. If I were you I would talk to Dr. Keser or Transmed. I personally think, Keser would be the better choice. I have never heard anything about the clinic you mentioned. In my opinion you should also consider Dr. Mwamba (Belgium), Hattingenhair(Germany), Dr. Bisanga (Belgium), Prohairclinic (Belgium) and Lars Heitmann (Netherlands). From my point of view the best clinics in Europe by far.

  7. Area of my first procedure with a german clinic. 1463 grafts into the corners of my hairline (26cm2). Survival rate: 90 percent. Good overall experience.
  8. Hey guys, I went through it! On November 3rd I had my procedure with Dr. Rahal and his amazing staff in Ottawa. We wanted to get 2000 grafts but ended with 2557 (800x1, 1428x2, 347x3 = 4697 hairs). It wasn't easy to estimate how many grafts we could expect, because Rahal had to remove two 7cm-scars from my first procedure with a german clinic which had stretched more than just a bit. It could have been my fault. I started lifting weights after 3,5 weeks post op in June 2007. Will never do that again! My main concern while talking to Dr. Rahal prior surgery was to get this fu...scars out of my donor area and get one new thin scar. Hopefully it will turn out great. As Dr. Rahal said, the mobility of my skin is more than good. He worked very engaged on the scar ??“ more than one hour I think. The whole procedure took about 8 hours (8am-4.30pm). Honestly, at first I was shocked a bit about those 557 extra-grafts ??“ all in all there have been 4100 (!) grafts implanted in the zones 1 and 2 during the last 18 months. That's quite a lot for a Norwood 2/3. Now I hope that this extreme dense packing does not affect the survival rate of the grafts. We'll see. I want to say thank you to Dr. Rahal, his team and Moe, the best taxi-driver of the world. They all made me feel at ease. Dr. Rahal is a warm, gentle, professional, engaged person and a very good Listener. As I am a big hockey-fan he ordered two NHL-Tickets (Ottawa Senators vs. NY Islanders) for me and Azza, who sits in his chair right now. P.S.: Feel free to have a look at my weblog.

  10. Hi Wantego, looks great for four months. Still a long way to go. I will have my procedure with Dr. Rahal tomorrow. Keep you guys posted!
  11. Hi Eman, you definitely have to be careful. I played ice hockey for 20 years and was a gym-Junkie. Returned to the gym after 3,5 weeks - and now I have a 7cm-scar that is quite ok and a second one that is bullshit. Hopefully Rahal will be able to remove it. I know it's hard, but keep in mind that the scar could stretch. If I were you I would go running - and start lifting weights very slowly. Okay guy, five days to go. I can hardly wait...
  12. Hi EMan, I'll apply KeloCote-Spraygel in the area of my scar after the sutures have been removed. Two german dermatologists advised me to order it. It's a patented topical silicone gel. They say it works wonders and reduces scars. Dr. Lindsey also told me, it should an option. Sadly it is very expensive. I have paid 100 Euro (135 US-Dollar) for the Spraygel (100ml). (http://www.kelo-cote.com) The other point is: After my first procedure in Germany i have applied 2%-Minox two times a day on the recipient zone. No skin irritations at all!
  13. @headinahole: When do you have your procedure? Will have mine on November 3rd. I'll stay in Ottawa for about two weeks.
  14. Looks great, Eman. i can hardly wait to fly over :-)
  15. You're just 21, Azza? Puuuuh! Only one month and our hairline-race will start in Ottawa :-) Take care!
  16. Thanks for your input, EMAN. Good growth to you! In three months your race starts!!
  17. Hi Guys, I'll document my second procedure (november 3rd/Dr. Rahal) with before-, inmediate- and after-pics right here. Unfortunately I don't have any pre-images from HT#1. For now I can only tell you that I was a NW2/3 and had my corners done by a german clinic called hattingenhair (great overall experience; an area of 25cm2/1463 grafts; the clinic is runned by a canadian couple which is originally from Romania; once they have worked with Dr. Seager). To cut a long story short: We measured a few weeks ago that 50 grafts/cm2 are growing, which is about 90 percent. I'm very, very happy with Laura Muresanus work. The only thing is that one of my two 7cm-scars is too wide (0,5-0,6cm). Maybe, because I started lifting weights after a very short time post op - 3,5 weeks. I would never do that again. Concerning HT#2: For my taste and in retrospect - during the pre-op-consultation of HT#1 - I was way too conservative. Because of that I have decided to get my hairline lowered a bit (only on the sides) and very natural (ca. 21cm2). I don't wanna have a straight line like a 16yo guy. Aditionally I want to give a bit more density to the area of HT#1. 15 grafts more per cm2 should be enough. I'm booked for 2000 grafts, but I think I can reach my goals with 1700-1800 grafts. The procedure will be very similar to the one of the rahal-patient "chicks dig". You can see his images on our german forum (I have collected some rahal-patients-results). Feel free to have a look. http://alopezie.de/foren/transplant/index.php/t/1277/ My main concern now is to get the old scars removed - I definitely want a thinner line. Concerning density in my case Rahal mustn't go too far. I know about the problems of smaller growth rates. My problem is: I have to return to the office after 3,5 weeks. I'm a journalist and it's not possible for me to wear a hat. So, it will be very important, that the doc shaves down only a few millimetres of my existing hairline as Laura Muresanu did before HT#1. Especially in the area close to the center. I definitely have to to hide my procedure, what should be no problem, because I have tons of hairs, that are quite thick and wavy. I have to discuss that with Dr. Rahal. What I actually think about is the best way to work on the temples. In my opinion it is essential for a hairline-patient to get the temples done in order to frame the face. I think about 300-350 grafts in total (for an 3-4cm-area on each side). But I actually don't think that it is possible to harvest enough fine hairs by strip in order to get that natural look. From what I have seen about strip-temple-work in two years of research the texture of the "new" is very different from the natural hair. It look's unnatural and in some cases way too aggressive. What do you guys think? Would it be better to get a Mini-FUE one the temples in 2010. The last two points I want to discuss with you guys: In order to get a nearly invisible scar I will start with Kelo-Cote-Spraygel after the sutures have been removed http://www.kelo-cote.com/ It's a slightweight, self-drying silicone gel - quite expensive. What do you think about that? Another thing is: I have a very, very, very good experience with applying 2%-Minox to the recipient zone from post-op-day 2 on. I had signicificant growth after 2,5 months and after 4,5 months nearly all of my babys had slipped. As I know Rahal commends to use Vitamin-E-oil. So, is it possible to apply both twice a day? Does it - against the background of applying chemical substances - play a prominent role, that Rahal uses needles instead of blades (Hattingenhair used blades and my skin looked very natural after let's say two weeks)? Thanks for all your comments. By the way: I have to say sorry for my bad English. It's been a while... I can't wait for the Rahal-procedure to be done - have booked for 16 days (!) in Ottawa (Adams Airport Inn-Hotel). If anybody has some sightseeing-advices - please tell me!

  19. Congrats, Eman! Looks really good! Any advices for me concerning the Adams Airport Inn, shops and restaurants nearby, sightseeing in Ottawa, etc.? I'm from (West-)Germany ;-) and will have my procedure with Rahal in a few weeks.
  20. Hi Jojo. Don't worry. You did your research!I'll have my procedure with Rahal in november (2000 grafts into hairline) after two years of research. When will you have yours? He must be a great surgeon!
