  1. This 5 minute video shows our patient, a neurosurgeon with class 5 hairloss before his case.  We did a nice 2800 or so graft case and, like many guys, at 2 months out...he thought he'd made a mistake.  That's normal...all the hair falls out, your bank account is smaller, the scar is a little redder.....I understand the frustration.

He stopped by at 7 months out and did this brief video, and hopefully will look twice as good at 14 months.

The video shares many patients' concerns...this time expressed by the doctor patient...who is just as uptight as everyone else is after hair restoration.

  2. In this short video, we have a guy my age, with class 4 or 5 hair loss on whom we did a nice frontal third case.  We show close up shots of the scar early on and late...and his results.   He makes it challenging in that with that short haircut....there is no layering to give extra hair "body" in the front, and that scar has to be excellent.

  3. Michael was kind enough to do a couple of interviews.  We did a frontal case on him a year or so ago and he returned to finish off the crown.  Virtually always, I push patients to let me place a few hundred single hair grafts along the hairline.  NO MATTER HOW TIGHTLY we pack hairs at the hairline...a few more always are beneficial.  And particularly when we're back in the crown on that second case...those singles would be of less value than at the hairline.

He lives nearby and I expect a final visit and video next summer.

  4. This unfortunate military man had a virtually zero yield FUE in the western US.  We did a strip case on him 10 months ago and he's looking good.  Now, he does have a significant color contrast and relatively fine hairs but what a change.  He talks about it in a short interview in the video.

  5. Take a look at our younger guy at just 6 months out from repair.  He had a sparse hairline from a local competitor and we packed him early this year.  Surprisingly, particularly given his color contrast between skin and hair, he already looks good at 6 months..to the point where I didn't recognize him when he came in the office.

  6. Some of you guys may recognize this fellow from earlier videos.   He's now 12 months out from his first case and despite relatively fine hair, a significant color contrast, and a lot of real estate to cover...he's looking good. He's another younger patient...and we talk about what specifically we like with younger patients:  1.  parental involvement so the patient THINKS before they have surgery   2. Plan for future hair transplants  3.  Create a mature hairline...not a 20 year old hairline that will look goofy with age.

  7. In this video we interview our patient 9 months after the first surgery for his class 6 hair loss.   He looks good and will only improve, particularly after his second case.  He's tough as he has finer dark hair and very fair skin.

  8. In this short video we discuss a recent patient who came for a visit...he'd had 2 previous transplants and was educated. He also shopped with a local new competitor who advertises a custom procedure at their office...that sounds all the world like old style minigrafts. Indeed another less fortunate fellow who'd not done his research showed up with results that looked not like FUE but like the minigrafts we all did in the early 1990's. SO watch out.

  9. Our patient popped in for a visit unexpectedly and I interviewed him about his results.  He gives the story of how his hair restoration changed his social situation.

Now before anyone says I'm encouraging trading up, so to speak...I just report the news, not make it.

  10. Michael had his first case with us at age 23.  I've posted him a few times before and he popped in unexpectedly a few weeks ago and looks great.  While some would argue that this surgery changed his life....I'd suggest it changed his OUTLOOK on life, giving him a bit of confidence to get his life going in the direction he wanted.

  11. Here's a 3 month update on our younger landscape guy Robert.  Look back a few of my posts and you'll see his case in great detail.  Before, during, first week...   Well he was supposed to show up for a month scar check, but eventually showed up and did this nice short video.  He wears a SHORT haircut and we discuss his scar.

He's already been calling in saying its growing but really he's now at only 4 months so it'll be a while but I bet we'll have a 13 month video showing results, if not sooner.

  12. In this brief video, Wendy and I discuss a current article in the Hair forum journal in which what sounds like an absentee doctor collected the payment but didn't do much else for a hair patient.  We hear this 3x a week from potential repair patients from all over the world.  Make sure you know what the doctor and everyone else does before you sign up!

  13. In honor of all the military guys we work with...and its a lot, here are 2 cases, the first is a guy who had a hair case elsewhere and wants it repaired, made less pluggy and who needs a decent strip scar to be concealed by very short hair.

    His case is:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c46ZBSvIrNw&feature=youtu.be

The second...is the same case, also on a military fellow, now 15 or so months out, showing his scar by me...hard to see..and his old plug scars...easier to see.  We cut out a bunch of those during his case, and who knows...but we may see him again down the road.

    His video is:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xd9R8fOufH4&feature=youtu.be

And just yesterday we had an air force guy for repair of a failed FUE elsewhere, an army guy for his 6 week scar check after his repair...and a navy guy in for a one year check after his repair case.   All at 7am.

    Happy memorial day.

  14. This public figure had a low yield hair transplant at a chain operation a few years ago.  We packed his recipient area last summer and he stopped by for an unrelated issue at 9 months and is growing nicely.  He'll look even better this fall but is already happy and said that after the case he took a few weeks and drove around the midwest and when he returned, he didn't tell his staff, and he keeps getting complements on he's looking younger.

He's often local, so hopefully we'll get him in late this year for a final video.

  15. Mr. R WAS a healthy very active guy working out 5 or 6 days a week vigorously.  He had an uneventful hair transplant with us in late October, came back for his scar check at a month, and like most of our patients....we didn't hear from him for a while.  At his 6 month mark, he called and told us he'd DROPPED DEAD on the treadmill while exercising in Februrary.  Fortunately, the gym is beside both my daughter's school and the rescue squad...which rushed him to the hospital after the manager had started CPR.  He had heart surgery...and describes going into the hospital with no hair and being discharged with a crop of hair growing.

We do NOT recommend this to start your transplant growing....

He gives a pretty good story and is back training pretty hard and I expect to have a better video this fall.

  16. This fellow is a friend of the practice and had FUE about 6 years ago.  Now he has fine hairs and has a decent FUE result.  Had he had donor hair as thick as his beard hairs....we'd have hit a grand slam home run.   I suspect at some point we'll be doing another case to add in behind his transplant where he's thinned a bit...and of course we'll add some grafts to his hairline.  FUE simply doesn't grow as well as strip due to root avulsion stress which I've discussed in 50 videos or so.   But John is happy and probably more importantly, so is his girlfriend.

  17. Steve wanted us to show his face in our videos...so here goes.  He's a younger landscaper..completely buying in to my explanation of how hair transplantation is like fancy tree planting.  Anyhow, we go through his operation and first week.  At the end of the video Wendy and I talk about how he missed his scar check.  He did resurface and did a nice video...but I can't figure out how to splice it into this video, so it will be put up in the next week or so.

  18. Ok people.  I've been off the forums for a few weeks giving a few talks in Europe and seeing a couple of our German patients in Frankfurt.   But here we go.  Francis is 2 years out from us doing a feminizing hairline after transgender surgery and a very aggressive browlift elsewhere.  She lives in our area but is off travelling and sent these new pics to Wendy.  Hopefully we can do an interview this summer.

There are 2 or 3 older videos showing the surgery and 9 month results posted on all these forums and my youtube site.

  19. Guys

I'm giving the keynote lecture at a medical meeting in Paris next Friday and am meeting a few patients we've done from Germany in Heidelberg before that.  If anyone wants a quick consultation either call the office and Wendy can sort it out, or email me.   I think I'll have email while travelling, but Wendy knows how to track me down.

  20. One of our older UK patients sent pics a few weeks ago so Wendy and I review his case, and see that he's holding up well.  For you newbies...his 3 day postop pic is horrendous.  Not that common..but certainly what happens if you sleep flat postop and drink a lot of fluids and consume salt.  That swelling was gone by day 7 but is a useful motivator to show people why they ought to sleep upright for a few days.

  21. In this video we discuss with our patient, his low yield case elsewhere, his repair with us, his poor cleaning after our first case, we show his second case and his excellent cleaning and we interview him and his wife.

Newbies may learn how to avoid a few of the classic hair transplant mistakes.

  22. In this video we explain the nuances of hair transplants for fixing patchy beards.  We have a few other videos showing the same technique on eyebrows and mustaches and scars on the whiskered portion of the face.  In addition to beards having really THICK hair...much thicker than usual scalp hairs...the hairs are all single hairs and they emerge from the skin very flat, particularly along the cheek.  The chin is an exception.

So take a look at how we do this on a younger fellow with some sparse beard areas.
