  1. Our old buddy rolled in last week and we did a short video showing his progress. Recall he's a massive man, who had a couple of plug surgeries in the 80s....like so many people did, and he had a sparse pluggy hairline, a short tuft of transplanted fine hair with a big color contrast with his scalp skin, and lots of plug scars showing through his work mandated hairstyle. So we did a couple of strips on him, excising lots of plug scars, and getting a good quantity...but not unlimited...of his fine hair to improve his hairline and then cover back toward the crown.

As you guys know...it takes longer to get final results and he's about 11 months out from his last case..so he probably has 5 or so months of additional growth, but I doubt we'll see him again. His blood pressure was so high from the drive in for this visit that Wendy and I thought he was going to explode.... luckily I only have to drive a few miles in that craziness.

  2. Hey guys, I hope your summer is going well. Wendy is off on vacation at the beach so I'm here editting videos and holding down the fort. Hopefully she's wearing sunscreen.

Here we review 3 guys with big changes from hair restoration with us. Take a look. It's not as in depth as some of our videos...she and I can get talking and the video drags on for 15 minutes..Which I probably wouldn't sit through if I were anything other than a newbie, so here's a quicker look.

    Enjoy.

  3. In this video, our patient chronicles his long journey from getting a goofy low hairline as a kid...to a megasession with variable results and lots of scarring...to having hair removed...to adding more hair via body hair transplant...to microneedling his scars...and how a repair case.

We filmed the entire process and our patient talks you through his entire journey. LEARN from his mistakes!

  4. Some of you guys may recall this fellow from 19 months ago. I'm pretty conservative with my hairlines, but have no problem doing HT on young guys as long as they get a mature hairline, plan for future work, and best...if they involve their family preop...to help make good decisions!

We filmed his entire case and its up on my youtube site, as well as his 4 month visit.

I'm working on a longer video, but as usual, I'm having computer--doctor interface problems...likely meaning I'm doing something apple doesn't like. I'll get the longer one up soon.

    In the meantime...watch this:

  5. Yep That match is often hard to achieve with facial hair. EVERY day we get a call from someone wanting a beard transplant...and 90% think that we can get them to look like Don Johnson in miami vice in 2 weeks for about 500.00.

The few who show up almost never have thick donor hair to match their beards...and we're just starting to see the first victims of robotic fue for beard enhancement... meaning a few guys with a bunch of skinny scalp hairs are all perturbed that they don't have the lustrous beard that they were promised elsewhere!

    Dr. Lindsey

  6. So this young guy had several medical procedures as an infant that left him with a few hairless scars on his head. He's likely to turn out like his dad...class 5...on whom we've done and posted his hair transplant....SO we need to plan for this kid's future. Meaning, we'll do a few hundred FUE's into these scars, and reassess at about 15 months.

We did him at Christmas break and he just got home from college at 5.7 months postop. He's growing well, despite FUE and despite placing the hair in scar. We've got about 17 of these cases, that my son presented at a few national and international meetings.

Hopefully we can get him back NEXT summer when he's fully grown in. Already he's noted that he's no longer self conscious when his hair is wet or the wind is blowing.

  7. Hey guys...another short video going over 2 more victims of the unscrupulous hair industry....DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE YOU HAVE SURGERY....not after.

First guy bought a 2500 graft surgery as that was the "minimal break even/profit" price for the doctor no matter what the patient needed...2nd guy paid for 6800 FUEs and wow...look at the results (or lack thereof)

  8. Some of you guys may recall this fellow when I posted his frontal results. He is a very fine hair fellow on whom we did 1500 up front going on 10 years ago now. The results are holding up nicely and include a short live clip combing his hair well before his second case.

He's now 11 months out from his crown, and so he's not fully grown in...plus its a crown...with fine hair, BUT, he looks good. Unfortunately he's leaving the country and this is our final visit. Like everyone..he says he'll send pics in a few more months but we'll see.

In any case, with good technique and styling, fine hair transplants hold up well.

  9. In this short video we review a guy my age, on whom we did a "frontal U" 3 years ago. He had said his tuft was all good transplant from Argentina, but it looks like it wasn't...so he flew back and after this video, we did his tuft and worked behind his "U". There is a segment where he talks about his experience.

All in all, he looks good, but has very fine hair...and I wish we'd have done that tuft a few years ago..but we hit it now and hopefully we'll get a final video next summer.

  10. This is a bit of a unique case. This 30ish year old asian man never had central mustache hairs. Now we've done a bunch of HT into scars in the beard or brow area, but this is a tough one...due to constant moving of the recipient area (with eating, talking, smiling etc). Plus...he wears a short hairstyle so FUE is needed, but he has fine hairs and weaker roots...so FUE maybe will stress them on extraction....

And we want singles...I don't have any doubles in my mustache area...

And we need the scalp hair to match the mustache area... OFTEN in men, the beard hair is so much thicker than the scalp or donor hair...that getting even a close match is difficult. Fortunately, this guy has similar hair on his head as he does in his beard region.

So we did 217 FUEs, shown are preop, intraop, day 4 and day 9. He's local, so hopefully he'll send pics in a month when its shed, and return to the office next year for pics. Commonly, on cases like this and eyebrows, a second "touchup" procedure is needed at a year or so to get the best results.

Lastly, before everyone emails to get a beard procedure....for me the most important issue is that the caliber of the donor hair needs to match that of the beard. If you have thin scalp hair and a thick beard that needs some "tweaking"...I'd be reluctant to proceed.

I asked our patient to chime in, but he's a busy fellow, hopefully he'll add his thoughts.

  11. I played a bit in high school....last big performance was Smoke on the Water in 1982 at a high school pep rally.

I picked it back up last year and have been torturing/playing for my staff and the day's patient for the last 2 weeks getting ready for this show.

Acoustic Pink Floyd medley to warm up followed by 8 minute Bach's Prelude in E major for a group of about 50.

I guess all the hair cases are keeping my fingers in shape. But still progress to be achieved.

  12. So I frankly can't recall if I posted this guy a while back...but he just emailed in pics and I'll put them up.

He is a bit of a complex story, young guy, fine hair, color contrast...the trifecta of hair PLUS he's really bald..... Fortunately he has decent but not unlimted donor hair to work with.

So we did an inital case 11 ELEVEN months ago... then he flew back in for a second case at 6 months....now he's 5 months out from the second case and hasn't fully grown in from the first. But he looks great and the close up of the scar (the initlal scar was excised with the second strip...so this is his only scar) shows hair starting to grow through it.

He's coming back in December, a year out from his second case and we'll do a little more on his remaining crown and get some good pics.

I've asked him to contribute his 2 cents as well.

Coincidentally I just put up today...fine hair results video by us...I wish we'd have had these pics yesterday for that video.

Remember..more growth to come on both procedures!

  13. Ok guys...heads up.

Most of you know I run a pretty blunt show when it comes to telling folks what they can expect. In fact we endeavor to show heads that "look like" the prospective patient's head at the consultation. Anyone can show a guy with a little hairloss, thick lusterous hair, and an awesome result, but MOST guys have a good bit of hairloss, maybe even a lot...., and most guys don't have long flowing curly bushy hair....

So, Wendy and I put together this video going through 4 different guys with fine hair. 1. BIG problem, 2 cases 2. Smaller problem, 1 case 3. 1 case with color contrast 4. Repair of previous work elsewhere. All have lots of pics and a short video.

To many of you, this is old hat...but particularly newbies...thinking about a hair transplant....you guys with finer hair..watch this. I'm proud of all these results, we packed them as tight as we can, but still, fine hair is fine hair, and OFTEN, a little extra at the front at a later date can help. EVERY fine hair consultation we do, we discuss this. Most never need an extra little case at the front unless they are getting a planned second case farther back on their head....but occasionally a little more at some point does help. And almost every time, the patient will ask why we didn't pack the hairline tighter...and we go back through the major points of this video...we pack as tightly as we can but fine hair is skinny. And you have to have some tissue around the roots for it to grow, so even 0.8mm slits...will have a little skin between them at the hairline. Fat curly hairs make up for this, but with fine hair...maybe, just maybe, a few hundred more a year or 2 later, might turn a "triple" into a home run.

The video is fairly long but we go into detail that I hope the newbies will learn from.

  14. This 33 year old rolled in unexpectedly last week, 9 months out from a frontal case, now engaged and looking good. BUT, he'll look even better in another 4 or 5 months..but these guys are so hard to get to come in for followup...we video'd him and review the entire process. Particular attention is paid to hairline design, cleaning, scarring and it should be informative for the new people on the site, and a decent review for all you experts.

  15. In this video, we discuss the old plug technique, why it gave the results it did and then take you through a repair case with 10 month followup showing good but not great improvement...because it takes LONGER in repair cases to get the results.

Fortunately he came in at more than 6 years out and looks great so we conclude with a short video combing his repair case and discuss the nuances plug repair patients need to know.
