  1. I think you have too much hair to bother with a hair system. I can see getting a HT to fill in all around, but what @Berba11 said about waiting to see how much you lose makes some sense since you just recently stopped meds. You want to wait until the loss settles down to see where you are at rather than transplanting now and then needing to do another session in a year.

I wanted to get a 2nd FUT to fill in (add density) to the hairline corner and add density to my diffuse thinning in the midscalp. I found a reputable surgeon in the USA near where I live who agreed that I can get an estimated 2000 grafts for my second procedure. 1000 grafts to beef up the hairline and fix the corner and the other thousand grafts going behind the hairline to midscalp area.

After looking at your pictures, the above section I quoted sounds like what I would want to do if it were me. Bulk up the front with 1000 grafts and then spread another 1000 grafts throughout the midscalp to add some density all through there.

  3. This sounds like they implanted the grafts facing straight up rather than facing forward. Hair doesn't grow straight up out of the scalp in most places. It's usually angled forward in the front half while also facing towards the sides a bit on either side of the hair line.

I think most people comb their hair back because they get less grafts transplanted into the midscalp and crown, so combing it back usually provides the best coverage. This is not always the case, though. There are a lot of people who do side parts.

  4. If you are a NW 6 or know you are headed there then I think it’s probably a good idea to use some beard hair from the start rather than waiting until some later time when you run out of scalp donor. If you mix beard hair in at the beginning the Dr can blend it in with scalp donor hair to make any differences less noticeable. If you wait until years later as you lose more hair then you’ll be stuck using all beard hair in a ring around the fringe area which may be more noticeable then if you blended it in with other hair from the start. You also will have to worry less about donor depletion since you’re not using as much scalp hair

  5. It’s a good idea to try meds because you’ll get a better idea of what you can get with a hair transplant. If the meds work and you get some growth without having side effects then you will need less grafts and you may be able to go a little more aggressive with density or where you create the hair line. If the meds aren’t working for you, or if you get side effects, or just decide you don’t want to stay on them long term then you’ll know you need to be more conservative with density and the hair line design.
