  1. Looks good so far...after 4 weeks or so approx. 80% of your hairs will fall out and you will suffer some shockloss...don't be discouraged though...we all go thru it!! I'm at 3 months post op and I'm having great growth but I'm only entering the exciting stage...it's nice when you see someone that you haven't seen in a while and they comment on how great your hair looks!! Good luck
  2. The Dr. told me that you should take it as long as you want to keep your existing hairs...when you stop taking it, those hairs that are predisposed to falling out will...so treat it like a multivitamin...also see if you can get on proscar instead of propecia...same product but definately cheaper, and covered by most drug plans whereas propecia is not as it is rated as cosmetic. Cheers
  3. I also use Kirkland 5% twice a day...if you find it makes your hair sticky and gives you that greasy look...try blowdrying your hair after about 10 mins application...takes the greasy look away and works for me... Good luck
  4. Tim: Too bad you can't use Rogaine 5%...Dr. Jones indicated that it really helps and I think my early growth is a testament to that. I remember reading somewhere that there is a 5% Minoxidil out there that isn't supposed to irritate people's scalp...I'll do some checking and get back to you about that...or perhaps another poster can enlighten us?? As for Nizoral 2%, they sell it at Zellers now without a prescription in the pharmacy section, I think I paid $12.87 for a 120 ml bottle...I use it once or twice a week to clean the scalp and it works terrific. As for the MSM, I buy mine at the local GNC store in town. Add to that, I'm on proscar as well to help keep the follicles I have...if your not on it, get Dr. Jones to prescribe it for you and split the pills into 4's...If your not on anything else I would strongly recommend the proscar!! Good luck and have a good weekend...stay in touch. Chris
  5. HairyMatters I use Rogaine 5% twice a day starting the first week after the HT and found that it has worked well...Also use Nizoral 2% shampoo once a week which helps clean your scalp...also try MSM 3 tablets a day, or 3000 mgs which contains sulphur. Helps your hair and nails grow and I believe it has made a difference for me. How many grafts did you receive from Dr. Jones?? I received approx. 3100 grafts with the majority of the grafts being 2 hairs (80%) so it should make a big difference in the coming months... Good luck and keep me updated...would like to gauge our progress.... Chris
  6. HairyMatters Welcome to the club hairy...had mine done on March 26th and already have some good growth happening...my neighbour commented yesterday that she can definately see a difference...looking forward to the 3rd and 4th month... Good luck
  7. fedup77 Congratulations on a great experience...I too remember the anxiety and still am now that I'm only 2 months post op...The evidence shows that things will get better between 3-5 months and longer and can hardly wait!! A positive experience with your doctor from the start is in my opinion worth the price of admission... Once again, congrats and happy growing!!
  8. Hugh Jorgan Or even worse....you found out that you WEREN'T destined to become bald!!!
  9. dtrojanz Good results with your pics...keep em coming as I gauge your progress with mine although I'm only 3 weeks post op. Nizoral 2% may be prescription only in the US but in Canada they sell it over the counter now w/o prescription. $12.97 Cdn gets you the 120 ml bottle at any Zellers or Walmart stores. I just bought three bottles of the 2% at Zellers last week w/o prescription. Here is also a good link with lots of info on shampoos, conditioners, medications etc... http://www.brandymd.com/unproven_treatments. Good luck...
  10. Telephone Man Nizoral 2% is a great shampoo if and when your head starts flaking after the scabs are gone...use it twice a week to start for a few months then once a week thereafter... If not Nizoral, Neutragena T-Gel is good as well. I've heard good things about L'Oreal Vive for men shampoo and conditioner...I picked some up but haven't used it yet...supposed to make your hair feel thicker. I'm just doing some research on a product called Hair Genesis...has anyone tried it and does it work?? Good luck...
  11. Chromedome Well said... Everyone is entitled to their own opinion...that's what makes this site a wealth of information for those that are thinking about a HT...I knew virtually nothing about HT's before I came to this site...and I'm still learning new things every day because of people's posts. Good luck...
  12. NC30 Yes I soaked my head in the tub twice a day for 20 minutes minimum at least for the first week. By then most of the scabs came off naturally without rubbing them. I also didn't have any itching or dry flaky scalp some here have mentioned. I used a mild shampoo as well and so far it has worked well for me. Day 14 and most of the hairs are still intact. I'd say roughly 65-75% of them remain. Good luck
  13. Thanks to all who have replied...Rugger, Gratefulhead, fortune...it's nice to talk to those that have been through the same thing... Good luck and happy healing...
  14. Well, 9 days post-op and most of my scabs are gone...including a lot of the hair follicles with them. The good thing is I didn't notice any of the hairs with the roots attached so I guess that is considered a good thing. Scalp is still a little pinkish/red, and strip scar is healing well. Sutures come out in 2 days and then the waiting begins. Please, anyone that has been at this stage, tell me that when the scabs come off, it is normal that the hair follicle sheds with it...it will help me feel better to know that I am progressing as normal. Approximately how long does it take for you to start to see some noticeable growth again from the transplanted hairs?? Thanks in advance. 3100 strip HT, Dr. Jones 1.25mg Proscar, 2% Minoxidil 2x's day

  16. Jesus...I still can't figure out why I can't see people's pictures when they post them!!! This is frustrating!! I know other people can see them from their written responses...can anyone please advise?? Bring back the old forum I say!!!
  17. G Dominic Olsen Thank you for your post...As I said before, I have nothing against the Seager Center...in fact the choice for me came down to two doctors, Seager and Dr. Robert Jones...I chose Dr. Jones. It was a matter of choice for me. We are lucky that we are able to make such choices. I wish you nothing but the best in making yours. Cheers Havhairnow
  18. I noticed that too...I can't open anyone's pics...I'm using Netscape 7.2 for my browser... Moderator??
  19. Hairboy: By the way, that Dr. Jones guy sounds like my worst nightmare. On the contrary...I was his only patient that day 8:00 am to 3:30 pm Rugger said it best with regards to the tech's job being as important as the doctor's in placement of grafts. Go back a couple of pages to find it. Lowly tech?? I guess you haven't had a HT yet then have you?? Educate yourself on the whole procedure before you make stupid comments like that. This website is full of knowledgeable posters with great information. All you have to do is read it. Good luck
  20. Mire1954 Reread my above post to Dominic Olsen...apparently I didn't make myself clear...or at least not clear enough for you. I repeat...nothing AGAINST the Seager Center...say that to yourself 10 times...is it clear now??
  21. That's great SOAP...I look forward to seeing your results. Something to look forward to...good for you with the Nikon...I own a Nikon Coolpix 950 only 2.3 mp and still gives great photos...I can only imagine what a 5.0 mp camera will do. Nikkor lenses are one of the best next to Sony's high end Carl Zeiss lenses!! Cheers
  22. G Dominic Olsen I meant no disrespect towards the Seager Center...I was mearly using them as an example...perhaps, in hindsight, I shouldn't have mentioned an actual doctor's name but a ficticious one instead. For that I apoligize. I have heard nothing but good things with regards to Seager's. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
  23. Danger Try ebay...I've seen it advertised there for some pretty amazing prices compared to the toppik website...the same for Rogaine as well... Cheers and good luck Is it 6 months yet??
  24. You can always try ebay...I've seen some pretty amazing prices on both Toppik and Rogaine listed for sale...from a reputable seller of course!! Good luck Is it 6 months yet??
