  1. First off, its been 7 years since a session so not only has the technology changed (for the better, obviously) but also perhaps technique for recovery of the affected areas. After receiving a relatively small session of only 500 strip incision grafts the following days have been like nothing happened. Applying ice has kept the minor swelling to an even greater minimum and the pain is only minor, if anything at all. But I have one small questions) What should be done to the small transplanted grafts over the next few days? Should they be sprayed with some saline solution or keep moist or do I need to worry about do anything? Most of my previous work were larger grafts, or plugs, and this latest work is like nothing happened in comparison. My instructions also indicated using Rogaine on the transplanted area, which I am planning on doing as I ordered a triple pack online and guess it wont hurt to get on it and stay on it (never used it before) and also from reading on the forum recently I want to get a prescription for Proscar from now on and stay on it.

  3. I have limited donor area and just recently received a tad shy of 500 grafts on the outer perimeter, it feels very promising at the moment (only a day or two post op) but it should make an incredible improvement. As far as cost, I was pleased to pay $3000.00, and I'll tell you what else, if you can convert a strong Euro against a weak dollar and come to the U.S. you could be looking good for a more favorable exchange rate. It goes to show you that technology, like qualified surgeons in a field as specific as hair transplanation, is not universal throughout the world. Sometimes you gotta take a plane ride.
  4. Thats an excellent question. But, thanks to this forum and all the advice you get on it you can avoid any real chance of being on the wrong end of a natural looking transplant. The newest techniques and the most experience in performing repeatedly natural looking results and you have nothing to worry about these days, provided you have done your research, sought out the advice of others and know what is best for you before ever getting started with your surgery. For many who did this years ago they are no seeking out these same surgeons to repair work that was nothing like todays undetectable results. Choose wisely and always know your limitations
  5. Hi balody, no, don't worry I'm not back - I wouldn't waste my time on a forum like this one has become. This forum goes to great lengths to investigate claims of shoddy work and to also make sure coalition doctors meet a certain threshold of verifiable results. Its proven to be an invaluable resource for me and thousands of others, not sure why you see it so differently than the rest of us.
  6. First off, I'm sorry to hear of your negative experience, but in judging from this picture it looks to me like nothing at all was done. It looks like a picture taken before any grafts at all were transplanted OR perhaps before any of them were allowed time to grow in. I just dont see any evidence whatsover of any work being done from this picture, and there are much more knowledgable people than I on this forum, does anyone else see what I'm seeing? Usually a bad hair transplant experience is visible, this looks like naturally thinning hair to me.
  7. If you arr speaking of Robert Thomas medical clinic in the midwest (Chicago, Milwaukee, Indy, etc but based in Chicago) he was killed in a traffic accident (as two seperate people have told me recently)
  8. Personally, looking at your photos, I think you shouldnt be getting a hair transplant.
  9. I have a session (first one) scheduled with Dr. Konior for HT repair. I can tell you about my specific experience with him this weekend if you are interested. I felt confortable and impressed with his abilities when I conferred with him and his staff. He has a very good reputation.
  10. Since your young and not bald yet, I would immediately get on Propecia so you dont lose anymore. And dont be rash in your decision to get a hair transplant, try creative styling, keep your hair closely cropped or just shave your pate bald. These are all temporary solutions and all reversible. You know, there are exciting options available today for hair transplants that were not available to me at your age. If only I had of waited instead of using 1990's technology and punch grafts. From what I see today the results are truly incredible. So, I say, first off, keep what you got and use Propecia, I've heard it has pretty good success at keeping you from losing more, and if you decide to get a transplant it can help you with any initial shock loss. As far as anything else, dont waste your money, all the shampoos and witch potions prey on mens desperation and will only add to your debt, not your hair. But some may give some mental relief and make you feel empowered somewhat that you are at least trying. You never know, you could be the one in a million it actually causes to grow hair.
  11. Red, just wondering, have you spoken to any coalition doctors about repairing your previous work? I too was a victim of outdated technology and have suffered for years as a result but am hoping that a repair is possible. There are doctors you can find right here who do repair work, and I am scheduled for an apppointment myself in a few weeks (even though I have precious few donor areas left) Let us know how your search has progressed, keep the faith!
  12. Thanks for this advice, however, with my limited donor sites, I'm not sure how visiting one of these doctors over another will make a noticable difference in the end result. I'm likely at the point where only one surgery (maybe two?) is possible at this stage.
  13. Well, I believe I remember the doctor saying that I might only have 500 grafts he could work with but could not be sure of this until the day of surgery, I remember all the surgeries I went thru in the 90's and how upset I was at the lack of density I was receiving. Compared to some before and after photos of much worse cases than I ever was in terms of hair loss I still dont understand why my hair is lacking any thickness whatsoever. I dont think there is likely a whole lot that can be done about that though. If we can fix the perimeter of the hairline to make it look soft and natural there may be hope yet, I'll keep my fingers crossed.
  14. Well, in 6 weeks I have a procedure scheduled with someone I finally can trust in his ability to perform quality work. My problem is lack of donor sites. I have a harsh hairline, and believe me, I can make my hair look better in real life than it looks in these pictures. These are "worst case scenario" pics. (hair is wet, and clumped, and also darker than normal, making for a bad contrast against my head) and it looks even worse on film than in real life (which aint saying much, I am aware) It's been 7 years since my last session. If the work on my hairline gives it a more "soft" appearance over the harsh, pluggy look I'm now sporting it will be a success. Furthermore, I plan on keeping my hair dyed blonde which lessens the contrast. I've felt totally screwed for years and am not about to get too excited, but anything is better than what I've been dealing with. Based on the experience on this forum, is there anything in particular you'd recommend for the outer perimeter of my hairline? Again, I have limited donor sites to work with.I do think that Dr. Konior will make it look better regardless and that gives me some optimism I can feel normal again. Here is my hairline after a shower:

  16. I did speak with someone from Dr. Konior's office. He told me that the Dr. himself would speak with me and that he specialized in this type of surgery (I believe the term would be 'repair', although this was not spoken as such during the conversation, but rather it was what I was asking for) and without putting words in his mouth (I dont remember the exact conversation) he sounded professional and helpful and told me that the Dr would evaluate and first see if this was possible based on my present state. I'm guardedly optimistic at this point. As far as the appointment, he scheduled me for around mid September for an eval. If the Doctor is that booked, then hes that booked. I'm not surprised, and am looking forward to speaking with him. However, thanks for the comments. I'm glad, very glad, to hear from others on this forum and their positive reviews.
  17. I agree, especially after looking at the pictures on this site. It's too bad I opted for this in my 20's and not my 40's. However, my original physician did say there were donor areas left so hopefully that means there is enough to fix this, or at least make a substantial improvement, which would be fantastic.
  18. Thats good to hear. I spoke with his office manager (Tom) last night who told me about his expertise at "fixing" others work. This is great to hear. And the work I had done was not terrible, in fact, its really not bad at all, but too thin to keep concealed under bright lights. (A pale complexion, darker hair and very thin, straight hair all conspire against me.. ) With that said, I'm very much looking forward to seeing him, and the earliest I can get in to see him is over 6 weeks. But I'll be there.
  19. Thanks calvin for the updates, all my grafts were the "punch style" and with all the innovations there may even be hope for me and my hairline of really looking natural. It certainly needs work on the very outer perimeter and the one and two hair grafts should work well there. As far as anything else is concerned, we will have to see I suppose.
  20. Excellent, this is a good start. Thanks much for the suggestions. You can bet I will take them seriously. Again, while I am not necessarily happy with my results, they also are nothing that looks necessarily terrible, either. And I also have no idea of the medical advancements made since my last procedure. I would be very happy to just fix the frontal area and hairline, and the bald spot in back I could care less about, provided the front is done to my satisfaction. Again, thanks to both of you for your suggestions.
  21. Hello, This is my first post, and I just found this forum, already I am impressed with the resources here and the information I have found. Very helpful. Back from 1993 to about 1997-98 I went thru various surgeries, about 8 visits in all, all with the same doctor, and I cant say I have been pleased with the results. Coloring my hair and even having it 'spiked', somewhat, during visits to the barber have really boosted my confidence in my hair, but it still is too thin and not at all good enough for me to once again feel confident about my appearance. Deep down inside me I have thought that even baldness is preferred over how I have felt, largely, about the results of my surgeries. For years I have resorted to hats for most trips outside of the house and have often found myself in avoidance of going places without a hat on. I'm sick of it, and have to change this. I cant go on like this forever. Now I'm hoping to find someone who might be able to add to what is there and need a good physician who might be experienced enough to add anough grafts to make a noticable difference. My biggest concern is lack of donor sites for grafts. I live in Peoria and am about 2.5 hours from Chicago and 3 hours from both St. Louis and Indy and am looking for a good referral. Perhaps someone can suggest someone. Thanks
