  1. Your comments are most welcome Spanker. There does appear to be a hint of redness in the hairline area but no more than that - not enough to concern me or indeed that I readily notice. Couldn't agree more with your sentiment on coverage. Certainly, on reflection my assessment was slightly out of balance. I am more than happy with progress so far and feel it will improve beyond this relatively early month 7 position. Regards. Bill
  2. Thank you Multiplier, it's good to receive positive feedback. Regards. Bill
  3. Thank you for your kind comments Joe. I'm very satisfied with progress to date and am looking forward to an even better final outcome. Given your history with H&W I hardly need to wish you well with your last procedure, as I would be confident of it being as successful as before, nevertheless I do. Hope you and yours have a good Christmas and New Year. Kind regards. Bill
  4. Just wanted to add: - I had 3739 graphs transplanted - I can part my hair down the middle. - don't mind the wind blowing anymore. So all can only be good - so far! Bill
  5. Hello everyone, Actual 7 month anniversary is tomorrow 13 December. These photos are a day shy of that date as with the busy Christmas period I probably won't have an opportunity to take pictures again for a while. Initially I was a little disappointed when I saw the top of the head photos as I hoped for fuller growth. On reflection I feel that good progress has been made, when considering where I started from. Growth in the crown is clearly lagging behind the front section, however I can see, as well as feel, that there is growth. Another consideration is hair surrounding the transplanted hair is much longer and thicker, which contributes to a seemingly negative contrast. Am nonetheless very happy as you can possibly tell from the front view. I seem to have inadvertantly, and happily, been able to copy text and photos from my blog - there are a few more 7 month update photos on the blog. Too much to hope for this technophobe to get them all attached with this message. Any comments will, as always, be welcome. 6. Bllorayne, At the end of my research phase I was equally impressed with both Doctors. My decision to choose Dr Wong was based on specifically indentified criteria, a fundamental factor being my age. However, I could have tossed a coin and whichever Doctor performed the surgery I would have been confident of a good result. They are truly exceptional in their field. Good dilemma to have. Bill
  7. Ethan, Good to hear you've had a good experience with the whole process. Having viewed Dr Rahal's work on this site many times and his impressive results I'm confident in saying you should expect a good outcome. I too had surgery in Canada with Dr Wong six months ago and enjoyed the whole experience. I can remember immediately post op being thrilled at seeing a hairline outlined. Do hope everything goes well from here on in. It will take time as I'm sure you know and as the old saying goes patience is a virtue - even though it can be damn hard at times to be virtuous. One other thing, I'm no expert but not sure if being on Propecia for a month would have such an almost immediate effect. I've been on Propecia, now Fin, for 9 months without any discernable effects. I appreciate we are all different but would suggest, if not already done so, you investigate further. Regards. Bill
  8. David, You cannot be anything but thrilled with that hairline and as you have said it can only get better over the coming months. Happy growing! Best wishes. Bill
  9. Hi David, Nice to hear from. Seems a long time ago since we first spoke and met; was grateful for your advice and guidance then and the contribution you made to my decision making process. One of the reasons why I am here now and able to have reached this level of progress! You do a valuable job, and as you may deduce from seeing my recent photos, I'm clearly grateful that you do. God bless Dr Wong! Yes, have had good response all 'round and very encouraging words of more to come - here's hoping! I'm doing fine generally, hope you are keeping well. I imagine your hairline looks even better than it was before and it looked excellent then! Best wishes. Bill
  10. Future HT Doc, Many thanks for your response and good wishes. It gives me quite a boost to read such positive observations. Of course I'm aware progress is being made, only have to look in a mirror to see it - and without having to put on my glasses to do so! Nevertheless, receiving feedback from commentators of your standing is always very welcome. Bill Update: Thought I'd lost the post so repeated it, your not seeing double; well I suppose you are but well worth repeating anyway!
  11. Future HT Doc, Many thanks for your message. It is such a boost to receive your positive observations. Of course I am aware of progress made in recent months, only have to look in a mirror to see it and don't need glasses to do so either. Nevertheless, commentators of your standing providing encouraging feedback like this are always very welcome. Bill
  12. Bill, Thank you for taking the trouble to post a reply. As ever your words of encouragement are very welcome and valued. I am pleased with progress - and prone to typical English understatement, I'm delighted! So shall be beyond delight if things progress as predicted. Cannot agree with you more on my choice of Dr Wong - so right for me. Be a pleasure to continue to provide updates. Bill
  13. Thanks Spex, will do (taking nothing for granted).
  14. Thank you for your kind words Spex. You would be included in the collective I respectfully referred to, and referenced, as "conventional wisdom" - as mentioned in my original post within this thread. And I appreciate your corroboration. Regrettably, I have no more top down photos other than those posted at this point. But shall ensure I include some with a mid December update. Quite looking forward to seeing them myself, as I am resisting the pull of the dual mirror aspect until then. Dr Wong said I'd be happy with the result at Christmas and so far so good - roll on those gingle bells! Good wishes. Bill
  15. TC17, Thank you for your positive comment. You have keen eyesight. I think there is a residue of redness in the hairline. More difficult to detect in person as the hairline looks thicker. The varying strength of the natural light clearly has an impact. I'm also looking forward to ever increasing changes over the coming months. Got to say I'm so pleased when I compare where I was just six or so short months ago. Regards. Bill
  16. Hello everyone, Not logged in for while due to both me and my computer not being well. Both on the mend now, well my computer at least is mended and I'm recovering. This should explain the rather random nature of my Blog update which covers the period 31.10.10 to 20.11.10; I actually had surgery on 13.05.10. Normal service to be resumed mid December, here's hoping. Want to say that I'm thrilled with having a hairline again. Just thinking today that I've quite enjoyed the process thus far and conventional wisdom suggests I still have some way to go, Yippee!! Yes I know - but I'm an Englishman, although not a mad dog - I think! Regards my fellow brethen. Bill
  17. Early days indeed SPEX - shall continue to practise the virtue with fruitful anticipation. Appreciate your encouraging words. Regards, Bill
  18. Hello 1966 - great year, I remember it well! Thank you for bringing a smile to my face, as I remember with great fondness my hippy, happy days. Just watched a programme on the life and times of Jimi Hendrix - brought back bitter-sweet memories. I was at the Isle of Wight festival in 1970 when Jimi played what I believe was his last gig! Perhaps I could become a born again hippy - must dust down that guitar! Pleased you agree and can see signs of activity from my photos and thank you for your kind words. All good wishes. Bill
  19. Hi David, Good to see you are progressing nicely. As for me, think I'm adhering closely to the proverbial "text-book". Clearly, things are moving forward, which is exciting. The lingering redness I understand will eventually fade. In a communication with H&W on another point I referred to using Aloe Vera and was advised it wasn't necessary unless the scalp continued to be very red. As the redness does appear to be fading thought I would just allow nature to take its course. Best wishes. Bill
  20. Hello, Have posted photos on my Hair Loss Website of progress at the 3 and 4 month stages. I apologise in advance for the dubious quality of the photographs, my photography skills have yet to improve! As mentioned on my website, I feel progress is more discernable in reality than perhaps can be seen in the pictures posted - biased view of course! Nevertheless, the pictures do provide noticeable improvement over each recorded period; hope you will agree? Generally, things continue to go well post op. The associated numbness seems to have gone, can't say the same for the redness on my scalp - although is has faded quite a lot. And with hair growing in that area it is becoming less and less noticeable. Even when it was more prominent I didn't mind too much as it framed a hairline. Have had a lot of spots and bumps on the head which seem to appear and disappear quickly and randomly. Something I've not experienced before - as have fortunately never suffered from acne, not even as a youth. Discovered that this is a sign of activity and impending growth so am happy for the experience and in all honesty it causes me no physical or emotional pain. The crown is lagging behind the rest of the scalp in its reawakening, which I understand is normal. Although I have felt some yawning signs recently. I'm only 4 months on so shall continue to be patient and hopeful in my expectancy. Please do visit my web page and should you care to comment, or indeed have any questions, I shall be pleased to hear from you and also to respond. Kind regards, Bill
  21. Depressedman, I would certainly not be depressed about my hair if it was at your current level of coverage and density. At 32 I too had a good head of hair and only started to show signs of losing it around my early to mid 40s. At that time todays hairloss stabilisers such as Propecia were not available and I progressed to Norwood 5A by the time I reached my 50s. Unfortunately, I agonised over potential hairloss long before it was necessary. Can I suggest you do not be concerned anymore than is necessary. Monitor it and take approriate action as required, which is what you appear to be doing, and enjoy your life. If at a much later time you feel you require surgical intervention this site (and possibly others) should still be around to guide you in your decision making process. In the interim who knows what advances in hair restoration or loss prevention there may be available. In short I feel you do not need a transplant and hopefully this will always be the case. So I wouldn't worry just be happy.
  22. BA, I had my transplant in May this year and left Vancouver 2 days later. If I were to have a second ht I would opt to remain in Vancouver until the staples are removed, which all in all would require a stay of two weeks. I didn't have any significant issues on the journey home, however my whole demeanour was affected. I was quite disorientated; my whole focus was on my head. Every step, movement and action required a concentration of thought that was centred around the effect it might have on my head. I found this draining and not the best frame of mind to be in when executing a journey from Canada to the UK, which took in car, plane, tube train (subway), overground train, car again - not forgetting walking through various concourse at airports, train stations, taxi ranks. Oh yes and my head had started to swell at the beginning of my journey, not the best prepartion for a long journey. Still, I made it home as mentioned without any real incidents but not exactly in a relaxed state. Hope it helps and good luck.
  23. Little wonder he's smiling in most of his post op photos, I'd be afflicted with permagrin too if it was me. Wonderful result, well done!
  24. Thanks Fingers, much appreciated. Yes indeed those two months have gone by so quickly. I'm looking at it from the point of view of being halfway through the quite phase. So am looking forward to a little progress by the time the next two months' swiftly pass, here's hoping! Wishing you all the best as you continue with your journey also. Kind regards, Bill
  25. wb280, I recall reading some interesting and inventive explanantions during my research, so a compilation of same sounds like a good idea. Would possibly help reassure and inspire new recipients - and enable a pick and mix approach, as neccessary. Generally, people just don't notice - well not to the degree that we looking at it from the inside do, with our tendency for close scutiny. An example of this was some of my children. During a recent visit I expected at least a passing comment but none was forthcoming. They are all adults and lead busy lives but still!! I was ready with my explanation on a theme i.e. Regain (Rogaine) and the sun. (It's not that I want to conceal my surgery from them and shall explain when the expected result is in. I wouldn't want them to be concerned and upset for me if things don't turn out well.). Regards, Bill
