  1. The Month 3 photo is the 22nd picture in the gallery.
  2. I just returned from vacation at the Jersey shore. July 4th was my 3 month mark. I just posted my 3 month photo. I am very happy and excited about the results so far. I have been going out more now without the hat. I have been keeping it shaved down to a #1 clip and in the past few days I let it grow out. I plan to let it grow from this point on. My fiance' keeps bugging me to let it grow out. I got to have some hair for my weddding on Oct 27th!
  3. Bill, Things are looking great up there. I think the new style suits you well! It couldn't be a better time for you to enjoy your new full head of hair. Enjoy it!!! I am still at the shore and plan to return on Sunday. I hope we can get together next week to catch up. - July 4th was my 3 month mark. I will post the results as soon as I return from vacation.
  4. This is an interesting topic especially with someone who doesn't have hairloss active in the thread. It helps to add another perspective to the discussion. Here's my experience so far. I am now almost 3 months post op (april 4th) and some hairs are starting to grow in the transplanted areas. Enough to make it look like a hairline at #1 buzzed cut. I have been sporting the #1 buzzed cut in the past couple months and the feedback has been great. I think that the shaved head look can be a sign of confidence. Women like confident guys regardless if they have hair or not. However, I think that a shaved head with a #1 buzz cut that shows a hairline has a greater appeal to the women than someone shaved bald. Someone shaved completely bald will make one wonder if they actually have hair. I think that the shaved look on a young person is definately a notch up in appeal over someone with hair and thining up top. Someone with hair and thinning up top can look 10-15 yrs older. There is a lot more to it such as how the face frames the shaved or buzzed look. Not everyone can pull it off.
  5. Gorpy, I love your results and how natural and soft your hair looks. I already see your results coming in from the 2nd HT and it looks great. You must be a very happy man!
  6. Don - I had the same concerns when I had my HT two months ago. Everything is normal. The transplanted hairs will fall off with the scabs. Some of them will stay on your head. I was most concerned about the space between the scabs because there were no hair there. It is all normal. When the scabs fall off the space will fill in with the hairs again. Nothing to worry about. Its all about the end result not how it looks now
  7. SinTPA, Wow..you look like you never had a HT in just three weeks after the surgery. Impressive! I have always been a fan of Dr. Epstein.
  8. Don Brasco, I had the exact same thing. I am now past the two month mark and the bump has gone away. It is nothing to worry about. I put neosporin on the entire area where the stiches are to keep it clean and free of infection. The small bump started where the stiches start. It is an irritation from the stiches. At first I was a bit concerned about it but it eventually goes away as you move through the healing process.
  9. HH, I know you have everything planned out on how you plan to hide your HT. Its not worth it if you are taking a slight chance to have unsatisfactory results. I would do what B Spot reccomends. If you hear any bad news from Shapiro, Unger or Pat I would run away as far as possible from Kiely. Sometimes when we feel that we have made the decision final we take the higher risk to go forward with it because of the time off planned. It is not worth it. Good Luck!
  10. I love this thread. Very funny! We all should start Scalp Exercising classes at a local gym. Add some good music, beer, chips, and TV. Richard Simmonds available?? Oh I forgot! We don't live anywhere near each other. Nevermind
  11. Hey Bill and Hairbank, Thank you for putting things into perspective for me. I am looking for growth way too early and only setting myself up for disapointment in the early stages. I liked Spex's thread about how we have to be patient during the growing process. He made a good point. If we look in the mirror every day we won't notice anything!! Bill, I think the redness looked worse on camera because I had just applied the Rogaine before the shot. Lately I have been able to go out in the evenings without a hat and no one comments the redness and those who don't know I had a HT even comment how good the buzz cut looks. The redness is improving. I am still using the Aloe and its working! This weekend I will be in South Beach for a few days of fun with my friends. I will post some photos from Miami for everyone to see some real life shots. I will be back on Sunday and maybe we can get together for a BBQ next week at my place with the ladies. I will be in touch!
  12. Hairbank, I think your plan sounds great and your updated pictures look great. Even if you didnt get another HT your results are very impressive. It gives people like me in the doldrums some hope! Looking forward to following your 3rd HT journey.
  13. I just posted my Month 2 photos. Not much difference from Month 1 in the photo. I can see many fine white hairs growing in the mirror and I think that they are my native hairs responding to Minox. I see a few darker hairs growing in and I believe they are the transplanted hairs. They are very sparse and hardly visible to the naked eye. Before I thought the peach fuzz was the new transplanted hairs but now I believe that they are hairs responding from Fin and Minox. I just purchased the Rogaine Foam a couple days ago and two weeks ago I started applying the Rogaine twice a day. So far my scalp has been handling it well. I am still applying Aloe at night before bed. I am also still getting pimples (ingrown hairs) but not as frequently as before, and I have one large egg shape pimple that is slowly going away at the center of my hairline. A couple weeks ago was so large without a white head that I didn't bother to pop it and its improving. The doldrums suck. I am keeping busy reading postings and trying not to look at my head for new growth every day. I can't wait to get out of this phase.
  14. Bill, Lookin sharp at the wedding! Im sure many of your relatives commented how good you looked but couldn't pinpoint why Sometimes when people haven't seen you for a long time they can't remember whether if you had hair or was thinning. Im hoping that I look half as sharp as you for my own wedding on Oct. 27th!
  15. Wanthairs, I assume you had the strip done. One thing that that I learned about the hair count is that it is only controlled by nature. The numbers of hairs extracted out of fixed number of grafts in a strip has nothing to do with the doctor. Some doctors may split grafts which will increase the graft count and that can be misleading. Most of the top doctors will not split grafts. If you went for 4000 grafts with the same percentages of 1's, 2's, 3's, and 4's as you did with the 2900 grafts procedure you would have a much higher hair count and coverage.
  16. I was wondering what the new transplanted hairs look like when they start growing in? Do they appear as peach fuzz at first? I am now 6 1/2 weeks after surgery. I had plenty of ingrown hairs in the past few weeks and wondering what it will look like when I look in the mirror very closely when growth starts. I know I have a very long way to go. Just want to see when its time to start getting excited

  18. Hi, I went to Dr. Rahal up in Ottawa. I was very happy with his care and the facilty is top notch. From what I saw Ottawa is not far from the Lake Placid region. 150 miles. He is one of the Coalition surgeons. Good luck with your search!
  19. Hairbank, Good question. Sometimes we tend to focus on the front and top of the head and forget about the scar in the back. It is still pink and I can see hairs growing through. It is a little less noticable now. My hair is grown out a bit more since the 1 clip buzz and the scar is pretty much unoticable. If I go out I will put Dermatch on it for coverage. I don't plan to wear it at 1 clip once the hairs grow in. Lately I have been checking to make sure that the scar isnt stretching. Bill, I plan to respond to your email shortly! Thank you for answering my question about the pimples. I was getting worried and even did a search on ingrown hairs on this forum and it was a big help. I was worried that it was a sign of an infection and it appears that everything is perfectly normal. I got plenty of ingrown hairs in the past two weeks and now it is clearing up. I have a few ingrown hairs left and I guess I should expect more of them for another few weeks. I feel like a teenager again! I am not sure if its new growth yet but I can see very small hairs coming through the scalp in places where I didnt have hair before. They are just breaking through the skin. Only a few here and there. You can barely see them with the naked eye. They could be just hairs growing back from the proscar or shockloss. I am just waiting for my scalp to go back to looking more normal. It is still slight pinkish and irritated by the ingrown hairs. I am still hiding under the hat. I know now what it feels like to be in the fun doldrums... I will post some pics of my scar with the month 2 photos. I am at 6 1/2 weeks.
  20. Hey NN, Congratulations on taking the serious consideration for a HT. You have done your homework and become popular and well respected in this community. I experienced the same nervousness in the days leading up to the HT with Rahal because I am a teacher and was worried how I would look when I return to work. I asked if he would do the surgery on me without shaving my existing hairs. He said in my case he will have to shave to get good results. I am not sure how it would work in your case. I know you want to get both the front and a bit in the crown region. Maybe 2000 grafts won't require any shaving with Rahal. I would contact Rahal to express your concerns and see where he goes from there. Both Shapiro and Rahal are great doctors and whatever decision you make youre in good hands. Everything worked out well for me because I excellent support from this site and Bill was able to advise me to work on the scabs early and I was back to work without a hat 8 days post op. However, I have been wearing the hat lately because the grafts have shed and it looks kind of strange because the pinkness in area is more obvious without the grafts. It is still slowly improving. Everyone is different. It just the bright white lights at work. Do you have office lights directly above you in work? Outside of work I go without the hat most of the time because it not as noticable. The past few weekends I went out with some of my friends at night and no one noticed. I just look like I got a ultra buzzed haircut.
  21. Bill, Hey! I will drop you an email to catch up. It was a busy week! Two of the nights this week was dedicated to the wedding planning. You know all about that part I see now you are a candidate for a potential H&W inforcomercial. You could steal some of LeBron James thunder. However, aren't your married??? I would consider hitting Long Island for RTC's BBQ but it is a hike to get up there. We'll have to discuss it in person. I have been using the minox lightly. I had a couple more pimples this week. Is that normal?? Why am I getting pimples???
  22. I am now past the 1 month mark. 95% of my grafts have shed. I just started Minox one week ago. I decided to hold off till 3 weeks after the surgery to start the minox because I am pretty sensitive to it and wanted to give the scalp a chance to heal. You can see the scabs from a couple small pimples that I had and redness in the area still persists. Its improving slightly. I buzzed the entire head to a 1 clip to blend in everything and I went out last Fri night without a hat and no one noticed. It all depends on the lightning. If in harsh white light directly above then it would be noticable. I am glad that I went forward with the HT and all the things that I worried about are over. I was most nervous about how I would handle returning to work. So far the hat at work has been working out and only a couple people asked "whats with the hat?" I decided to tell only my immediate family and close friends about the HT. They we all impressed and fascinated about how it all works. I don't plan to tell anymore people. Now its the long waiting phase. The next couple months will be busy for me so I will be doing my best to keep my mind off it
  23. Mikeman, I totally agree with your post on women. You added a new perspective on the laws of attraction. It is very interesting how important it is to be confident on YOURSELF as a person. Even though I never had great hair in my 20's I felt that I was able to attract women through my passion and desire to live life to the fullest. I agree with you Mikeman that if you live your life trying to see if you are enough for a particular woman then you're setting yourself up for failure. Its always about what CAN they bring to the table for you Congratulations on your new growth! You are off to a great start. I am excited for you.
