Our bodies often need a period of adjustment when starting new medications. It's important to recognize that this process can vary from person to person. While some individuals may adapt quickly, others may require more time. In either case, it's crucial to follow guidance of your surgeon, when it comes to medication. Along with your surgeon , you should create a medication regime that is tailored to your specific needs and minimizes the risk of adverse effects.

Changing the dosage or form of a medication, or starting, stopping, or substituting a medication, without proper medical guidance can be risky. Therefore, it's essential to consult with your surgeon before making any changes to your medication regimen.

Your surgeon should be the primary source of advice when it comes to medication.

What if my surgeon tells me one thing, but my general doctor tells me another?

  2. Hi guys. I started oral min 6 weeks ago. 2.5mg dose. The last week I’ve been feeling very tired and had a few dizzy spells. I’m contemplating stopping min, to see if I feel better. After just 6 or 7 weeks, I assume it won’t be at the detriment of my hair? I’m 8 weeks post op and all is going well.

I would like to stop oral minoxidil. I’m fine with Finasteride.

not sure, one was rounded and one was more straight. i drew the hairline on myself so perhaps it was my drawing! i only had some hairs added to the temple on the rounded side though, i think having to reconstruct that point was probably tricky.

overall though the procedure was very clean and it seems to be going well so far. i plucked some hairs out of that rounded corner today and it looks much better to me, will post some pics tomorrow.

You drew your own hairline and the doc just went with it?! Is that normal?

Doctors don’t simply stump up money and get on the list. They previously had to be voted for by the posters on this forum in order to be accepted. That’s changed now that there’s a consul of experienced posters who oversee the recommendations, but just to clear that up.

But you are right: the recommended list is a tool to use, and shouldn’t be taken as gospel. No list will ever be perfect of course - there will be surgeons on the list that are not in favour of some posters, and there will be excellent surgeons out there who are not on the list at all.

I’m relatively new here, so forgive me…. The point I made was, if money isn’t on the table, surgeons won’t get recommended (i think!). Dr Reddy was an interesting one. When I approached him I thought he was recommended, but he wasn’t. Well, he was, then he wasn’t! Now he is again! Thats how it is. I get it. It’s a bit clicky!

Mate I've been going mad trying to find someone on this forum or someone online that has some experience that isn't a promo or work provided by the Dr himself but no joy, this was my attempt to try and flush someone out about it but no joy yet

I had an online consult with Ted Miln. He’s a lovely bloke. He’s a warm and honest person. I also had an in person consult with Mani Mital, who I also really liked. a different character to Ted. More relaxed. I think they are both good, in my opinion. It’s very difficult mate. The recommend Surgeons list is useful but it’s worth remembering that they pay to be recommended. One of the reasons I went where I did, ironically, is because my doc is highly regarded here but doesn’t pay to be “recommended”. I was actually put off by the list!!!

You’re a completely different case to me. This forum is great, but the research shouldn’t stop here.

I like the hairline design and your temple points also. You've gone to an excellent surgeon.  I also started oral minoxidil after my procedure and even after 7 weeks use, have noticed my native hair becoming thicker. Gross, but I've literally cut my nose hair three times in the past 3 weeks, something as a blonde iv haven't had to deal with. I see you're from the UK also, did you buy your minoxidil from Oxford pharmacy?

Yeah, I’ve got it from there mate. I’ve noticed this company called ‘Manual’ sell it too. Seems to be cheaper. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

I completely agree with your statement here. I'm also 7 weeks and have completely embraced the ugly duckling stage. I'm not even conscious of it and like you said, nobody else cares either. In the next few months this will look fantastic im sure.

I understand not everyone is as relaxed about telling people. I also understand many wouldn’t go out during the ugly duckling phase without a hat. I’m lucky that it was a small case and my shedding, to this point, isn’t that bad!
I do honestly believe nobody cares or judges people having a transplant though. The only comment I get is “how did you afford that?” To which I reply “with great difficulty”!

observations so far…. In an ideal world, I’d have gone slightly lower with the hairline. It’s 6.5cm to my eyebrow. My forehead muscles are quite high and Bruno was adamant that we respect those and stay with the outline of the hairline that remained. Temple points could be improved, but again, he was happy with them and I think they look ok.

Will I need another surgery? Who knows. The feeling was that I probably won’t. My hair is very fine so will always look “thinner” than your average Joe.

having started 2.5mg minoxidil since the operation, I’m intrigued to see if I notice any difference to my hair generally.

I do think I may have had some shock loss of my donor but it’s hard to say. Again, my hair is very fine!

    The math aint mathing 🤯

Melvin, you know more than most…. How is this possible? His donor even looks better after the surgery!! Non of it makes sense. Make it make sense.

  9. I’ll be 7 weeks tomorrow. Nowt much to report. Shed a fair bit, I think. Don’t seem to have lost any native hair though….
not paying much attention to it, to be honest. I am very bored of the short hair now though and will not be doing it again! Nothing hurts or itches.
I’ve been relaxed about telling people. A lot of support and “fair play to you mate” comments when I’ve told people. The stigma of transplants has gone, I assure you. Just be open and honest about it. NOBDY CARES!

  10. Hey lads. Not the most followed thread but thought I’d do a 4 week update.

shedding has started, but that’s to be expected. My donor looks good. Don’t think you can tell anything’s been done really. No numbness. Very little itching. A couple of spots have developed in the recipient area. All in all, everything feels good. I’m going out as normal and just telling people that notice I’ve had a transplant. Not a problem.

anyway, here’s some pics right informs of my window.

    cheers all IMG_0738.thumb.jpeg.4095ef98db9e966a55fed11307e67560.jpegIMG_0739.thumb.jpeg.59c0e38ce47f22861043ee3229ad8fc0.jpegIMG_0740.thumb.jpeg.d37f73a3b4b67bc551be7fc94a0b45b7.jpegIMG_0762.thumb.jpeg.69171470dcaba22b41402372baab9cc5.jpegIMG_0754.thumb.jpeg.ca32d784792a7f8a5a20a824d0ffb98d.jpegIMG_0748.thumb.jpeg.e75741c62a88173b324aba2c7618b2d9.jpeg

David Silva doesn’t shave, he only shaved while he was ugly duckling.

A top doc actually told me a story about this. I’m sure he said that Silva actually had an emergency back home, which meant he couldn’t go back the next day to finish his surgery… if you look, it looks like the front line has been done, but he wasn’t able to fill in behind it straight away….

edit… I don’t wish to make light of a horrible situation. It looks like everything turned out ok..

Hi. I was wondering how the post op care is in this clinic? Is there someone in the team to contact when there are any questions or concerns for example ? And are there any (online ) periodic evaluations ?

hope you’re recovering well! You should be pretty far in your proces now :)

I’ve been speaking to his patient coordinator, Emilio, via WhatsApp. Very good after care. He’s requests Frequent pictures. I’d say they definitely don’t have a stressed attitude about after care. No bandages after op. Relaxed about scabbing etc. just let the body do its thing.. send pics and Emilio tells you what to do.
    so far, so good!

    Thanks for the reply guys.

Lucky you Otis james! Are you happy with your experience? I'm flexible, I will be able to fill cancelations. Do you have the number to his patiens coordinator? Is it one of the number I posted above?

I was extremely happy with the experience. Bruno is a really good man, and very skilled. Emilio is a great patient coordinator. Neither of those numbers are his, however. Shall I PM you his number? Not sure it’s right to post it here…..

Allright, thank you for the information! Gotta be why he's so over booked - very cheap considering what he accomplish!

My surgery was Jan 16th. He was €3.45. You need to contact Emilio, his patient coordinator, on WhatsApp. He’s a really good guy. As for waiting list, I didn’t wait long but was able to fill cancellations. If you can do the same, it will better your chances.
