No extraction was done by someone else, I was talking about the sites and implantation, for me the extraction was great, Esteban was lovely and trained under Dr couto for over ten years in my understanding
LOL .. EVERYTHING is done by him to 50% of surgery is not done by him.

Hello, I saw that fuegenix is using a new punch and the holes look similar to zarev.
How is this possible and are these the only two doctors who can do this? This way you can harvest more grafts and it causes fewer scars.
I heard that Zarev works a lot with air pressure? I would be operated on by a Trivellini micromotor and I hardly see any punches, there is also a vacuum function that makes it easier to remove the grafts? The trivellini page even says that the function makes the grafts easier to remove!
it is all smoke and mirror. This looks no different than a WAW punch at 0.9 after surgery. Patient characteristics are different too. Some patients with fine blonde hair have triples , quadrulples and 5-6 FU units. Munib is a master marketer.

I just had my surgery with him, he did everything except the last 2/300 grafts in the mid scalp, so you will be very hard pressed to find a surgeon like Couto and one who does everything themselves
thats good to hear. in the past extraction were done by someone else

Hello all -
Haven't been on any HL forums in over a decade.
I'm 45 now and started experiencing loss in my late teens / early 20s. Have been on Finasterside since then and it has certainly helped slow loss, but I have steadily lost throughout the years with decent stabilization over the past 5-10 years I would say (although it feels like I lose some slight ground each year). Back then I was thinking about a strip procedure from Hasson & Wong (back in 2010), but never pulled the trigger. I've been using toppik as a crutch for this entire time. While it works visually, it has been exhausting and I'm looking to find a solution to end any cosmetic cover-ups and just be free. I'd say I'm probably a NW 4-5, although have coverage all the way up to my original hairline which allows me to use toppik without anyone really knowing the wiser.
I hopped back on the forums to check out the updates in technology and results. I'm super impressed with FUE advancements (15 years ago it was NOT the way to go with my amount of loss). I'm looking to finally bite the bullet and go for a pretty hefty FUE procedure (thinking 3.5K - 4K) that can hopefully cover most of the frontal 2/3s and perhaps come back later to finish the rest off.
I have scheduled a consult with Dr. Hasson. I have been reading things that perhaps the quality may not be the same as it was 10+ years back. Plus their speciality was FUT rather than FUE.. so they are certainly not on the forefront of this arena.
I do not have interest in going to Turkey.. but have started reading about some of the Spanish doctors (Couto, De Freitas, and Lorenzo). All their work looks impressive, but Couto stands out. I've heard about the issues with the waitlist with Couto, but really like the fact that he performs all work himself and staggers the session across multiple days and maxing at 1K grafts per day.
Any thoughts? I e-mailed Couto and will likely call their clinic this week (don't speak Spanish), but if they could give me a consult sometime this year then I might be willing to wait a year or two to go with him. I didn't care for Lorenzo's website / results as much.. and De Freitas was somewhere in the middle. I don't want to obsess and spend countless hours reading and researching like I did back then.. but would like to decide on a reputable doctor that is ethical and has my best interest above all else. The cost isn't as big of an issue as I've been fortunate over the past few years career-wise, so I just want to get the right doc for me and my situation.
Cuoto is way over rated. and he does NOT perform all the work himself.

The total area of the 3 strips harvested is between 56 cm² and 61.8 cm². This is derived from the surgery report and transcribed as follows:
1st strip: 29 cm * (1.6-1.8 cm) = 46.4 cm² - 52.2 cm²
2nd strip: 3 cm * 1.6 cm = 4.8 cm²
3rd strip: 3 cm * 1.6 cm = 4.8 cm²I have shaved my donor area just below my FUT scar as shown in this picture, which allows me to perform an accurate count of 85 follicular units in a 1 cm x 1 cm square.
I used GIMP, a professional-level photo editor, to perform this count. As I do not have any patchiness in my donor area, we can safely conclude that my donor density is on average 85 FU/cm² throughout.
Using simple math, the number of follicular units that were harvested can be easily determined. If there are 85 follicular units per square centimeter, and the total area of the 3 strips harvested is between 56 cm² and 61.8 cm², then the math works out as below: 56 cm² * 85 FU/cm² = 4760 follicular units on the low end, and 61.8 cm² * 85 FU/cm² = 5253 follicular units on the high end.
Please let me know if that does not make sense to you. None of the information above is derived from anonymous forum users; it is derived from the surgery report and meticulously counted from the photographic evidence I captured of my donor area using GIMP.
Strip density varies drastically as one goes from occipital to temporal area. You cannot calculate the density at the thickest part of the scalp and assume the entire strip has the same density. It drops significantly.

Greetings,
This is my first post in this forum.
I am planning to get hair transplant done by Dr AP and I am getting mixed reviews from people here about him.
I also read that he has been removed from the list here for unethical practices, though it was a long back.
I wish to go for FUE and the strip at the back of my head is a big no for me, as most of the times I need to shave my head for the rituals.According to him on his YouTube he is the best option available and he satisfactorily answered my questions on phone and seemed genuine.
But as we know, HT is always a big decision.
Has anyone taken any service from him in the recent five years? Also, are there better options in Pune, India?
Thank you in advance.who is AP? AP?

not maybe. definitely.

based on photos it is very unlikely you will have good result. usually clinics that transplant like this are sub par . Add the complexity of afro hair on top of that, they transect majority of follicles. Nothing you can do about it now but wait to see how it turns out and consider repair in one year.
how much was the cost? who did the surgery?

Incredible result, documented quite ridiculously.
Now you just need a personality transplant to add the finishing touches to your great head of hair!
Dude has a personality of a chiuhaha. If I was eugenix, I would discharge him as a patient, and tell him to kick rocks.
reminds me of those people who have been nerds their whole lives, make a little bit of money as adults and think the world owes them everything. GTFO. -

I just couldn’t wrap my head around the vacuum part doing anything as grafts are held in by the fat layer. However I’m wondering if the punch itself is not on the market or is custom made to allow the donor area to heal faster and cause less obvious scarring, allowing him to extract more without dilution of the donor. Just a thought
In my opinion Zarev extracts partial grafts and not true follicular units. Meaning if it is a 3 hair follicle he will extract 1 or 2 of the hairs. He makes up for this by transplanting large quantity of follicles. End result is the same.
JMO. but feel like it is true based on the punch size, but also a repair case where he had to remove the misplaced follicles over multiple sessions.

I had my first FUT procedure in 2008 (500 grafts) split to the crown and hairline. I did zero research and just went with a friend who was getting the procedure done. The scar wasn’t bad at all and I am prone to raised scars sometimes. I then went in 2018 to Dr Feller and received Dr. Bloxham and received 2000 grafts to the crown. I still have a bald spot so either the placement of the grafts were done incorrectly or they didn’t take. I also have a qtr inch wide scar from ear to ear. I keep my hair short on the sides and back and the scar is visible sometimes. I now need grafts to the front of the head behind the hairline that doctor number 1 transplanted. I am considering FUE but is it better to just get FUT at this point and hope that the scar will be less visible with a new doctor? I’ve been quoted anywhere from 4500 to 2500 grafts needed. The 4500 is coming from most clinics in turkey. I hear they tend to over harvest which concerns me. These are the docs im reaching out to
In the US:
Carlos Wesley
Christopher Varona
Netherlands
Dr Muhib Ahmad. Although I’m quoted 40,000 Eur which it way out of my budget
Turkiye:
Resul Yaman
Dr. Gur (FUECAPILAR)
Dr Bicer (waiting on their assessment)
any advice on type of procedure I should do or doctor would be helpful. Does anyone know where I can find cost breakdown for Dr Carlos Wesley?
You need a scar revision, or scar revision + FUT depending on your scalp laxity.
Only then should you consider FUE. JMO.
Dr Munib Ahmed Quoted you 40,000 Euros ? for how many grafts?

Got it. Any other negative consequences of that besides potentially slight bigger scars if I shave down too low?
Typically I buzz down to a 3 over the FUT scar and taper down to a two or 1.5 below. Will see how that looks now in a couple weeks after hair. With only 800 FUE I would presume imperceptible.
For such a small surgery . No big consequences. If it was a bigger surgery - 1000 -2000 FUE grafts, the scarring that results from large punch holes also effects the neighboring follicles "health." I suspect this is due to the scarring effecting the blood supply so it is not ideal.

My only criticism would be, those are some huge punches to extract follicles for temple points. Most can do it with a 0.85 or 0.9 . Those look almost like a 1.0 punch

Meds won’t improve the transplant area too much if at all.
Its mostly for maintaining the remaining hair.
I have seen 1000s of transplant. Meds improve results period. It even improves donor hair quality and caliber and length of anagen phase.

You constantly keep calling other surgeon's out so it is only fair you get called out too. A lot of your patients are on medications. Anyone that knows anything about surgery knows that medications can take a mediocre results to good and good to great. So how about you start listing the medication regiment with all your superfluous statements about your skillset.
While the industry is filled with average and below average surgeons who you keep comparing yourself too, there are surgeons that are good and excellent who are putting out work similar or better than yours for years without any over the top boasting about their skills.
Just keeping it real my man.

I have narrowed my search for a surgeon/clinic down to a list of 5. I have been quoted about 2,500-3,000 grafts. One of the clinics I am high on would break my case down into 2 days. The first day would be the hairline design/incisions and the 2nd day would be the extraction/implantation of the grafts. This clinic is really good--one of the best in the United States. I trust that they are ethical, but one of the main reasons I have them so high is that i liked their work on previous patients that have a similar pattern of hair loss as my own, and after reviewing those cases, none of them had all of the incisions made a day before the harvest/implantation. I take it that this is a recent change that the clinic has undergone. I have reached out to the clinc with my concerns, however i would like to get some unbiased input from the posters over here. Is this something I should worry about?
I have a few questions about this that maybe someone can answer;
- Could the incisions close and need to be reopened the next day?
- Even if the incisions do not fully close, could they begin to close thus running a risk of friction between the bulb and skin which could harm survival of the graft?
- Would this method lead to a higher risk of cobblestones?
- Should I be worried about the hole clotting without the graft? Inserting a graft into a bloody incision would allow the graft and the hole to clot together
Thank you to anyone that can help, it is much appreciated.

Honestly... You've spammed my inbox with this question on at least two occasions, and posted this question/similar on the board multiple times and now you're hijacking someone else's thread to once again ask the same thing. I'm not answering for the 500th time I'm afraid, mate.
Defer to all previous answers or speak to your surgeon.
yours too? Dude is odd. I understand hair patients are going through stuff but this guy needs professional help. -

The doctor I visited in Turkey stopped in the middle of the extraction and said the hair is c shape and he is not trained for that..
Do you think she will be as good as Dr Pathomvanich? The price difference is about 40%..
Was it pekinner? he uses manual tools. curly hair is difficult with that. That is a blessing. i rather have a doctor stop the surgery no matter how great a loss from plane tickets etc then buthcer the donor area. That is commendable.
I think she is better than Dr Pathomvanich personally.
-
curly hair by itself is not what makes the case hard. curly hair with different skin types. In fact some curly hair is the easiest to extract because of skin property that facilitates the extraction process.

I have curly hair. is she trained to work with the type of hair? this can be challenging and I need a well experienced surgeon that will be able to extract with low transection rate and also set the hair properly.
i do not know her personally. you have to ask her directly. she does not seem like the kind of person that would lie to you to get you as a patient. she has many years of experience and her work is one of my favorites.

If you can’t get a reply from Dr Laorwong reach out to Dr bonus. She works at the same clinic and just as good

I am looking for an hair transplant surgeon in Bangkok for this July..
I was in touch with Dr Laorwong for a few months and now when I try to finally book the date with him and is not responding..
I am looking now at Dr Pathomvanich who is one of the most experienced doctors in the world and I wanted to get some experiences from those who had a surgery with him.
There are very few reviews of him here even though is clinic has been around for many many years.
I think most people go with Laorwong because he provides good results with 80 Baht a graft while Dr Pathomvanich charges around 120 Baht.
I personally do not mind to pay the extra if it's worth it as my hair is curly and the extraction is more challenging.I would like to hear your opinion.
I personally impressed by him when watching this videodr Laorwong and dr bonus we’re trained by dr path. Work will be close to same but personally I like dr Laorwong and dr bonus work a bit better. They both do their own extractions . I don’t think Dr path does his own
