  1. Hey, So I am about to book my first hair transplant at the age of 30. I am really really against finasteride, but obviously I know how important it is for the hair transplant and to maintain hair. However, a reputable clinic that is often praised on this forum has said that they do not recommend or prescribe finasteride (only Minoxidil if need be), and that I can get a hair transplant now (in a few months), and that we can follow-up in in my mid thirties for my second one. I have had good chats with the clinic, and they are super supportive, and I believe they have done great work that is often shown in this forum which gives me confidence. It is true, that they are saying I can have it done without finasteride. I've received my offer letter, and I have been given a few days to send the deposit to them to secure my booking, but I cant help but find myself scrawling through the forums, looking at reddit posts, googling, 'hair transplants without finasteride', hoping to find some that work? I would say I am a Norwood IV at the age of 30, and my brother is 5-6 (shaves his head to keep himself bald). Sometimes I can mask my hair loss in day, when I use dry shampoos it makes my hair look better, but when its thin, you can see right through. Anyways, I want to know, is this possible, would I be absolutely stupid to even consider getting a HT without taking fin, are there any words of encouragement that I do not need fin and I can just do this and get a second one and thats fine? I'll include my donor area and pictures, but if my surgeon is telling me it's fine, it should be fine right? When I put my hands through my hair, to check for active hair loss, I sometimes get 3-6 hairs falling out, is that normal?
  2. Yeah I went to the dermatologist, said I had some light yeast. Like 2/10, so I am shampooing it and moisturizing it at the same time. I just wanted peoples opinion on this, a hair transplant at the age of 30, with no finasteride. I am about to book it. I might start a new thread but yeah, this is where I am at.
  3. Is getting a HT without fin even worth it, this is the route I’m going down?… so unsure
  4. Bro I cant risk Fin, knowing me ill go mad. How is minoxidil going for you, any advice on that? Foam or liquid better?
  5. Super coincidental that you replied today. I went to a Doctor today after getting my blood tests, all results from what I could see and were told are in the normal range. I sent them to my Hair Transplant Surgeon, she did ask to see the Testosterone results which I did not get tested for. I went to the doctor and she advised my blood test results are okay, but then looked at my scalp, she said I have some mild flaking which is like a 3/10. She prescribed me Sebco and Dermovate with Capasal shampoo, I am using them. What do you think? She said I have, I think she said I have mild seborrheic dermatitis. I dont know. Additionally, I am going to see my dermatologist tomorrow through private healthcare, any must questions I should ask?
  6. Hey man, funny you say this, I willl look to use Minoxidil and Derma rolling in the new year. I bought a Dr. Pen. I will not touch Fin at all. I cannot risk it. It looks terrifying man.
  7. @Mggm- Whats your thoughts on it, you going to take fin?
  8. Thanks for tagging me bro, yeah not taking any chance with this. @3rd time lucky- how was the depression with Finasteride, and the ED? Is all back to normal, why would you even risk this again, sounds terrifying man.
  9. Yeah that is worrying. Bro, I cant lie, I would love to try Fin it just seems so scary, like its a synthetic drug that shouldn't be in the body. That's the thing that terrifies me. Chemically put together. Do you have before and after pics of your eyes on Min? Keto shampoo I presume is nizoral?
  10. Thanks for your input bro, doesn't that scare you, the fact sides from Fin lasted a month, that shit is no joke. A month. And you want to try it again, ive read countless posts of people saying they tried fin again after ED and lowered it and now two years on they cant get a boner, no joke, I have read post after posts about that. It just scares me. Just curious, does anyone know about the new hair loss treatments and when they will be coming out? Whats your expeirences with Min so far? I see this ages people/dark circles?
  11. Appreciate this bro. I really do, I think if I was going to do it, I would do 0.50 every other day, or 0.25mg a day? I am thinking of booking in a Dermatologist to have a look at my hair and all of that. Its just so expensive, 400 pounds to see a dermatologist and insurance doesn't even cover it, I just feel like I am throwing my money away. Just the fact Fin changes your hormones and some people say they get super depressed on it and so forth scares the shit out of me.
  12. I get that, but bro, how can Fin be an Ally when I read posts of people unable to have their dick functioning again. It's just hard to ignore.
  13. Hey Balding Bad, Appreciate your message here. Yeah, Curious25 was blunt, and I appreciate that, I know he is right, and I know you are right. The thing is, you see a guy typing and going in circles, but you do not see the behind the scenes. I'm writing this as I am watching the hair loss clinic on Discovery + for motivation. I have tried things. People don't realise, I tried Finasteride without researching any of the sides, and had a massive panic attack at work feeling anxious as f**k. I had no idea finasteride could do it, I just went to the belgravia center in London, got my Fin, took it, and had an anxiety attack 2 weeks later (never had one before). Then I researched Fin, didn't like what I saw, did not want to touch it again. Okay, so Fin is a no. I then paid GBP 200.00 to go to a reputable Trichologist in the UK who works with Dr. Ball. She put me on Liquid Minoxidil. Cool, I took it for a month, every day, consistently - I kept getting heart palpitations, I even tried to push through them, I got prescribed Propronalol to compensate, it was too much. Had to stop. Okay, so minoxidil messed me up too. Here I am, I do NOT accept not trying, people think I do not want to try things and it absolutely drives me crazy. I do. We can go around and round in cricles, but theres no point, I want to find a solution. My options and potential plans that I want your thoughts on is: - Foam Minoxidil? I hear Heart palpitations occur less on it? The questions I have is, Monoxidil, it's for life, is it worth it, maybe getting some stories about people and their minoxidil use could give me some motivation? - Hair transplant - not doing anything and getting a hair transplant is something I am thinking about it, waiting for the hair loss to stabilise. I am going to go to a dermatologist soon hopefully, and take a blood test to see the results. I do want to be active and think of a solution. No matter what you guys say or believe.
  14. Didn't want to go too much into detail about this part on this thread, but started another one about these products I have been prescribed, to be honest, I am at a proper loose end feeling quite down as I do not even know if these products prescribed are going to help:
  15. Hey there, I've spoken to a few of you on here and I appreciate your help so far. I'm just really in a crap mood and feeling super down right now. Forgetting the hair transplant and just focusing on my general health, the hair transplant surgeon I was hoping to go for has asked me to go to a dermatologist, to do this I had to go to my GP. They are awful here in the UK, they haven't even seen me in person and just are prescribing me things. To say it how it is, I have hair loss, my head feels sensitive, and sometimes I am scratching my head, isn't that normal, a random itch? Anyways, because I am losing my hair, I over think it, I do not know, but the GP firstly prescribed me Dermovate - was putting it on been 2-3 weeks, not much changed. Now I messaged my GP to get a dermatologist appointment and they prescribed me Sebco and Capasal. I just put the Sebco ointment in, thick gooey stuff, as I rubbed it in, I felt like 10-15 hairs felt out, and I don't even know what it really is doing or if it is harming my hair even more? After this, I will wash it out with Capasal shampoo which I need to do daily. I just want to know, is this hurting or harming my hair or would help the hair loss/itch/sensitivity? The blood test I am taking next week includes tests on: Full blood count, Thyroid Function, Creatine, Electrolytes, and more. I could really use some opinion or advice, whats your thoughts? This is the pic I sent to the GP and she said the following: "From what you are describing and from what I can see from the photo, you are most likely suffering from a condition called seborrhoeic dermatitis. I have issued a prescription for some scalp ointment (Sebco) and also a shampoo (Capasal - I believe this shampoo is also available over the counter without a prescription) and this has been sent to your nominated pharmacy. I have also texted you a blood form and I would be grateful if you could get this blood test done to investigate any other potential causes of your hair loss. Once you have done the blood test, then please contact us again around 3-5 days later via econsult, so that we can review the results with you. If your symptoms are not improving then I think we should arrange to see you face to face and discuss a possible dermatology referral. A dermatologist would expect us to have arranged blood tests and tried the usual treatments before referring you and referrals tend to get rejected if we have not done these things first."
  16. @Curious25 - the surgeon who is wanting to do my Hair Transplant, is telling me to go to a dermatologist............ Ive spoken to her now for quite a while, they are asking me to do this. So if I say no, the person i want to have a transplant with wont do it.
  17. I get it, looking at my donor area at the beginning of this thread, what do you think, is it enough? Is it possible, my loss could stable. Looking at pictures of my both grandads ... they have thick hair until 40-50 so I am super confused.
  18. I appreciate it. I appreciate the advice. I dunno man, i just dont want to be on fin, I really, really dont. It scares the crap out of me, honestly. Without Fin, am I just doomed, honestly.
  19. Thanks man for that feedback, and i get completely where you are coming from, I really do. I guess it is all about the priorities. I took Fin once, 3 years ago, and I had not researched the sides at all - I had panic attacks at work. Close friend of mine had sides. I dont want to be on it. Minoxidil, I took it for a month, then I see after a month I have massive heart palpitations... this is why I just dont want to mess around with my body anymore. I tried it man, I really did. Maybe I am not meant for it. I feel a bit demotivated, like genuinely, I am down the path and doomed. I dont know. So there you go, I am planning on going to a dermatologist, hopefully, getting some tests, seeing if I have anything, managing the hair loss hopefully, I have to ask the 4 following questions: 1- reason of hair loss ? 2- tricoscopic examination result 3- telogen efflivium ? : 4-active hairloss ? Anything else I should ask? Anyways, this is my thoughts, why I feel a bit doomed and a loss. GIven all this, do i really have another chocie?
  20. Thanks man, yeah, I think if I took fin and min, my hairline would be saved, but I am too nervous to try Fin. Also, my friends who have taken 0.25mg of min have had sides. Someone who has taken Fin 0.50 every other day, hasn't had a boner in a while I know as well. It scares me. So I presume you have not been on Fin either, and are reconsidering it, what is making you want to take it now all of a sudden, whats changed in your mind set? Bicer just said to me she doesn't recommend it, just wants my hair loss to stable naturally, I dont know, hopefully I can just have a hair transplant without Fin or min.
  21. Hey mate, ive just tried to find your posts with your hairloss, can you link me, for some reason it freezes everytime i click on your activity in your profile... super weird.
