Fortunately for my flight from India post HT I had my SO in the middle seat and I had the window seat. Even without someone as a "buffer," you still want the seat that minimizes risk for damaging the HT. The last thing you want is luggage or someone brushing up against your planted hairs. Having said that, the window seat has a lower height, so you risk standing into the luggage container. Take your time and take everything super slow. When getting into the seat, place all arm rests you can up while you scoot into the seat. Deplane last. When getting up from your seat, place your hand above you so you can gauge the distance, and not bash your head.

Also, I agree with what spex said about the saline spray. It isn't explicitly mandatory, but I still would want to do it if the doc advises. The post-op care slip will allow you to board with your medication, and, the spray should be in a 3oz or less container anyway, so it shouldn't be an issue regardless. Now, you'll never see these people again, so who cares? Don't spray them, but do apply the saline on the plane. If they don't ask, great. If they ask, tell them you got a medical procedure, and this is non-medicated saline spray that helps with healing. If they prefer you to get up and move every hour so you can spray in the lavatory, they can get up and move and make their own flight uncomfortable. Up to you how you handle the passengers, but your health (and perceived health) come first. Honestly, airplanes will have the driest air, and thus the most need for the saline spray (if you argue that you need the saline).

Silly question but could I choose the exit seat as its given to someone who is fit? I am physically fit but would surgery be seen as unfit for this seat?

Have a couple of questions for you,

Did you have a consultation already?  FUE or FUT?  Will your scalp be covered after the procedure?

Try to get an isle seat.  Having to tell people to get out of the way, if you need to go to the restroom, is truly a pain - and more so if you have a light dressing on top of the head.  Consider as well that you may experience some swelling after the procedure.

It is likely the clinic will give you typed up post op instructions and perhaps even some products you can use.  The problem is TSA may not allow you to bring them on board.  You will need to check in your luggage if you want that stuff to reach destination.  Ask the doctor if they can give you a small size, (or better yet, purchase small empty bottles and bring them with you to the clinic), with whatever solution they recommend that way you can have it with you at all times.

Most believe you can start using camouflaging agents 3 days after a procedure.  I'll typically tell people to wait 7 days.  It all depends on hygiene and how proactive you are.  Most patients tend to be quite gingerly because they think they are going to damage something.

The most important things for you to bring are going to be your pain meds and a wrap around pillow you can put on your neck.  This will prevent for you to rest the back of the head on the seat.  That area will be tender.

Make sure you have something light to eat before the flight.

Let one of the nurses know, when you first get into the plane, that you had surgery earlier.  They'll check on you and be extra nice......

Procedure is in Dec. Yes looking to get the last back seat in the plane and near toilet. It will be FUE(DHT) procedure from India. Thanks for all the tips.

I can’t imagine going to India for a transplant but I’m sure you’ve done your research and must be saving a lot of money.  You may want to wait a day or so before your 10 hour flight home just in case you need access to your surgeon and allow your body to recover a bit from the basic trauma of surgery.  I’m sure the process will go fine and you wouldn’t need additional medical treatment for anything but make sure your personal health insurance would cover any medical bills.  It’s pretty rare but knowing that may relieve some personal anxieties.  Best of luck to you and let us know how everything goes.

I am from Ireland and Europe is way too expensive and no way would loo at turkey. Yes, India is the best bet. Thanks

Many thanks. I might pay extra for the seat beside the toilet. I am flying with Lufthansa and can see a single seat beside the toilet on the chart.

  5. So I deposited Rs 100000 today and the dates have been booked.

I was emailed with the confirmation but the surgery date is wrong  as it should have been a day before so I am waiting for Nelson to reconfirm the correct date.

Also, in the email it says:

You shall be required to perform certain blood investigations. Please send in your blood reports at least 4 days before the procedure.

    Hb, Platelets
    TLC, DLC
    BT, CT, aPTT
    HBsAg, Anti-HCV, HIV 1&2
    RBS.

I was under the impression that the blood tests will be carried out once I am in Eugenix a day before the surgery as this is what I was mentioned during my conversation with Nelson.

Again, I am waiting for Nelson to reconfirm this.

Hey, what was the response times like when you emailed them asking for feedback / consultation? I've been emailing them, and while there was an immediate response on my first email, there has been no response to my follow up email in two weeks, hence the question.

    Good luck with your transplant.

Hey mate. I have been speaking with Nelson on whatsapp and also had few calls with him.

I also had a video whatsapp call with Dr Sethi and Nelson.

I didnt see any delay in response so far.

    Hey folks

This forum has been really helpful so I want to share my thoughts.

After many years of research, I looked at places in Europe, Turkey and India. Europe is way too expensive for me and Turkey has some real horror stories. I narrowed down my search and have finally decided to go to India. Long way but my mind says it is the right thing to do. I am planning to go ahead with Eugenix in New Delhi .

I had a video call with Dr Sethi and Nelson and have been advised of 3000 grafts to cover my frontal area including the hairline.

My crown hair is thin but I am told that nothing should be done now and I can think of it in next 5-10 years and take finasteride. By the way I have never taken any hair loss medicine so I will have to think about it. I probably wont take it.

I already have read the reviews and done my research but if anyone else wants to chime in and advise me on anything will be appreciable.

My surgery will be in December so its a long way to go but if anyone else is heading to India for HT, we could tag along together as I will be flying on my own.

    Cheers

  8. Hey guys

After researching for few years , I have decided to go ahead with HT in India.

I have few questions if someone can shed some light:

    1) My flight back home will be 10 hours. Which seat should I choose? An isle or a window seat? I will be flying on my own.Do I need to spray something on my head every 2 hours or something while in flight?

    2) How soon can I use dermamatch and hair fibres on my scalp after the surgery?

    Thanks

Amongst us, we both produce the same quality of results because we both have studied from the same  Dermatology department of AIIMS, New Delhi between 2005-2008. Then started working together since 2008. And she is my better half!

So, she is better than me, on any day.

We share the same teachings, instruments, technicians, theatre and academic skills whether it is writing the book or conducting workshops.

    Thanks Dr Bhatti. Great job

The index patient had Grade VI plus baldness and decent scalp donor and had a great beard. And the patient had no intention to flaunt a beard ever. He had a washed out temple area and because of which his forehead was looking wide and augmenting his bald look and he was worried about a natural hairline and natural temple. We tried to recreate the hairline and the temple.

He had a lighter shade of skin close to Caucasians and the hair-skin colour balance was important in his procedure. His donor scalp was not great, it was average. So we did about 300 grafts on each side of his temple and close to 3000 odd grafts on his frontal zone up to the mid-scalp (we were more concerned about the fronto-temporal angle which was deep) and we did not plant more grafts on the central region and the crown and we deliberately planned more grafts for the next session. The patient started experiencing hair growth and look change towards the end of 3 months and by 6 months he had enough hair for a haircut and a look change!

We are posting  this result after 6 months and expecting more hair to come within 6 months from now.

    Note: Temple and hairline

Thank you very much for your journey. Was really helpful.

Can I ask, which doctor operated on you mostly as they have two packages they offer. One is with Dr Sethi and Dr Bansal which costs higer and the other is with other doctors that work for the clinic and the cost is lower. Do you recommend any doctor in particular and what is the most important think during the surgery?

Also, did you come across any side effects from using Finasteride? Like low libido or problem with the Erection. Sorry for being so direct but this is the only place I can ask the questions.

By the way, looking at your old pictures and now, you look incredible. I hope you can get the crown area filled as well and dont have to use fibres anymore :)

Hi  , this is Vinay. I had completed two months post surgery @ Eugenix , Mumbai. At present my transplanted hair almost falled and some hair remaining. I observed some hair is growing. I will share my pics after the completion of four months because the result of transplanted hair will be start in end of fourth month or fifth month based on Individual Persons. The support from Eugenix is marvellous regarding post hair transplant surgery queries. I highly recommend Eugenix for Hair Loss and androgenic alopecia.

Hi Vinay. How is your growth now. Can you please share some information. Thanks

Dr Bhatti uses his own refined FUE technique which has proven successful in maximising grafts survival. Therefore it is not necessary for him to use any other method. Results published online using traditional FUT and FUE techniques probably outnumber those of any other technique close to 100:1.

    Thanks Shera

I'll answer this one for Spex. Yes, it can, most patients opt for a years supply rather than the recommended 6 months. Dr Bhatti will issue you with a prescription for customs purposes but I'm yet to come across anyone who has been stopped and questioned.

    Thanks Shera

In the UK getting the actual prescription is the most difficult part as very few GPs are informed or willing to prescribe it. Speaking directly to an informed GP willing to prescribe is of great use. Try your own GP first as mentioned as they might be willing to help but experience has proven it can be tricky.

Hi Spex. Can Finasteride be bought from India and bring back to UK?

    Hello Folks,

So, I have had my first transplant done yesterday. I got 3470 grafts transplanted from back of my head. Initially we estimated for 3000 but after my consultation with Dr Pradeep Sethi when he was designing my hairline, he thought my forehead is big so to get decent look back it is worth bringing my hairline little bit forward. I just went with his recommendation as he is an expert in this field. According to him my donor area is good since I was not taking any medication my existing hairline was thinning too. He decided to fill that gap as well.

Dr Pradeep Sethi’s involvement in my surgery.

    1)      Drawing Hair Line Design: 100%

    2)      Trimming my Hair: 100%

    3)      Before and After Pics: 100%

    4)      Local Anesthesia: 50% and Eugenix Trained Doctors: 50%

    5)      Making Slits as per my hairline design: 100 % by Dr Pradeep Sethi

    6)      Extraction of grafts: 30% by Dr Pradeep Sethi and Eugenix Trained Doctors: 70%

    7)      Implantation of Grafts: Temple Area & Hairline by Dr Pradeep Sethi 30 % and other areas by Eugenix Trained Doctors & Technicians: 70 %

One thing I have realized after my surgery why Eugenix is producing solid results and it is not just because of Dr Pradeep Sethi & Dr Arika Bansal. It is because of their entire team and Eugenix Trained Doctors and technicians some of their technician started working with Eugenix 10 years ago some 5 years ago but you must admire their commitment and devotion to their work. My surgery was like marathon surgery Dr Sethi and his team has started  10.30 am and finished at 11.30 pm, I did ask technicians if they want to call it a day around 9.30 pm and continue tomorrow but they said if you are comfortable we would like to finish it today. Obviously, I wanted to get it done on the same day too I said to them let’s continue. Eugenix team is like one small family where everyone greets with smile all the time and always ready to help. In Dr Pradeep Sethi’s own words “His team is backbone of his sucess”.

My experience with them was fantastic. So far, I feel I made the right choice by coming here.  I am not sure how my results will pan out in next six months’ time I can just hope and pray to get decent results.

I have attached my pics for all of you to see because I know most of you are keen to see that. I have attached some more clinic pics. I am staying at Eugenix Inhouse staying facilities and I am absolutely loving it. Got chance to speak with Dr Pradeep Sethi had dinner with him yesterday. You just don’t feel like you are in unknown territory and it is not like I am getting special treatment or anything I saw Dr Pradeep treating other patient came from Chicago in same manner. In short, I feel this place is for some one who wants to get outstanding results with family touch. I hope to come here again but not for surgery though just to meet team and Dr Pradeep Sethi. I was comparing my post op pics with other top notch doctors in the world outside India and according to me my quality of work is not bad but I would like to have your inputs so please provide your feedback whether it is negative or positive I am happy to take it on my chin.

I had an opportunity to discuss some of the concerns raised by forum members:

I raised some of the concerns shown by few users on the forum about their pricing and senior doctors involvement in surgery and the response from Dr Sethi, they are working on their  pricing structure and he has assured me to publish their cost along with their services they offer on their website very soon. One more concern which I was seeing from lot of members that why don’t we get many individuals posting their results on this forum and his response was most of their patients come from word of mouth and they didn’t even know about these forums exist but he did say he will try to come up with some strategies which will encourage individuals to post their results by themselves. If this happens, we will see many patients posting their results here on forums which will obviously help us in making decisions to choose right surgeon for ourselves.

I also got chance to learn about DHT technique from Dr Sethi he has kindly drawn everything on piece of paper for me to make me understand difference between FUE and DHT.  I will scan and attach it to my post later and hopefully it will help other guys in understanding

I am still here till Saturday so if you have guys have any question post it on my thread, I will try to find answers from Dr Pradeep Sethi or Dr Arika Bansal.

I know there are lot of people out there on this forum who are keen to see my progress and growth i can say that because i am already receiving lot of private messages from them and few of them are based in UK f they want i  will try to meet them as well once i am back in UK. This actually motivates me to share my experience more and more and help out others because there was a time when other patients posted their results and shared their experience and on basis of their experience i have made my own decision. Only time will tell me if my decision is right or wrong. Stay tuned for my post op pics.

    Hi, welcome to the forum.

If you are thinking of India or Turkey then you can use the link below to see the worldwide Docs recommended by this site.

    https://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/Consult-a-Physician/hair-loss-doctors.asp

You should search for independent reviews on this and other sites to get a real understanding and feel for each doctor. Speak to the reps and maybe even have a video consult with the doctor.

Basically then just trust your instincts and go for the one that feels right for you.
