Tbh I still think you got a pretty good result. I don’t think you’re a particularly difficult case, although your donor management is crucial. You might be the perfect case for De Freitas, as I recall you’re portuguese/spanish descent right? He operates on your type of hair all the time with incredible success.

Yeah im German, English, Irish, Portuguese, and spanish. Last name Rodrigues.

I really want to fill in that hairline and square off my forehead a little bit it's too see through in pictures and in sunlight and looking directly at it. Kind of like these lines drawn on, but If I really had to conserve then I'd just fill in where my current hairline is without lowering and save for the top but I Def need to reinforce that hairline. Ideally lower and bring it in a millimeter or 2

There’s no perfect surgeon, and there are bad cases with every surgeon mentioned in this thread. It’s up to you to consult with them over video and really research and talk to past patients. That’s very important.

I know I'm looking for overall trends and probabilities. Some maybe have a bad case out of every 50 surgeries whereas one may have a bad case out of every 200

I just wanted to share my thoughts and opinions here, but Diep does get some great results. However, his front office staff is absolutely awful and unorganized. You can never get any of your questions answered, you wait weeks for any new information and it all seems like a shit show. When they tried to setup my consultation, they were late and failed to send me an email after multiple calls to them to find out what was going on. They were all very confused and I was shocked at how they can even operate as a business.

When I finally met with Diep, he said the following comment to me during my consultation. "I will make you look like Elvis. Full head of hair." This is such bullshit because no surgeon can promise this result, and they must be realistic. I told this to another surgeon/office and they said that comment was super unprofessional and just plain wrong.

Diep is a nice guy and loves his job. He also gets some amazing results. However, I canceled my surgery with him due to the front office staff, some horror stories on these forums regarding his donor management, and overall technique I have been seeing with some recent cases. There are a couple repair jobs that people have had after Diep as well. Again, Diep has great results, but there are too many inconsistencies for me to be 100% confident in him.

Have you seen similar bad cases from Freitas?

I couldn't say.  Both are great doctors.  It would be ideal to meet with a handful of reputable docs and see who you feel most comfortable with.  I think establishing a good relationship with the surgeon is important.

I'll just have to look at a large sample size of results from both and see if the differences can justify the difference in cost

In my experience with Dr. K I always ended up with more grafts than the original target number which brought down the price per graft rate.  If the OP only has a few thousand grafts left then he needs to make the most of them.

Do you think I would have a noticeable difference in result going to konior vs Freitas?

when I last spoke to his rep in march of this yearwhen I was considering him, I was offered a slot in Sep 2022, so a bit of a wait unfortunately. I think Vila was a similar wait.

Pinto had a couple of cancellations the following week that I was offered, but I couldn't take and then the next available was November of this year, so around a 7-8 month wait in the end for him. But he was busy too as his e-mail initially sent me an auto reply saying that they weren't accepting new consultation appointments until Jan 2022 - I thought I would chance it and reply back to see if there was anything they could do and it turns out there was. I imagine my date in Nov was also a cancellation offered to me that I ended up taking.

Ok I'm fine with waiting until the end of next year for the surgery

Can't go wrong with the likes of Konior - he's just very very expensive and for the price I personally would go elsewhere as he's probably in the region of 3x a solid European option such as De Freitas for example, but he's one of the best there is and I would go to him in a heartbeat otherwise.

With him, or someone similar like Hasson, you can be rest assured you're not going to run into the same issue as you did with ASMED where business models were shifting. They've been the same for decades and it's not going to change.

Do you know how long Freitas wait list is? I just sent him an email too

I'll set up a Cobsult with Freitas too. I look duo round trip flights to Belgium from Phoenix and it said like $350 which is crazy cheap. Are you sure Freitas is as Consistent and well regarded with same results as konior?

It’s a shame he switched his business model. Years ago he was involved in all of the transplants and was rightly considered to be a very good choice. That changed around 2018 unfortunately. He was very much recommended in the past, and yes he is a capable Dr. His hairlines are among the best !

It sucks that I went to him right when thag started happening. That's why I want to be careful about the same situation happening again with a new doctor this time

I would be confident in saying he's still among the best. But as I understand it, he has technicians do much of the work these days. Even Dr. Acar (Cosmedica) is very skilled, but I've seen some hatched jobs from poor technician extractions. You have to pay extra for the doctor to spend 1 hour to make incisions. Now it seems Cosmedica and Asmed are more volume driven than quality driven.

Well I went to asmed and got 5000 grafts with low yield and Erdogan did my incisions. Maybe my techs were just not good. It's hard to tell though.

Yup! I flew from Texas to Turkey... flew business class, stayed 5 extra days in a 5* hotel, had a mini vacation... and probably saved $10-20k USD by going to HLC instead of a top US clinic.

De Freitas, Bisanga, Lorenzo, Feriduni, etc. are all in the top 25 in the world, I would say.

It bothers me because at the time I was researching after my first transplant for a best surgeon for my 2nd one so many people said Erdogan was in top 3 of the world. Then things started going downhill after I paid to schedule my surgery

  12. 4 minutes ago, JohnAC71 said:

Yes the model of ASMED is the same of a hair mill these days, multiple patients per day and tech only procedures. Dr Erdogan will draw the hairline and that’s it for most. They now pay extra if they want him to do the incisions. It’s the top option they offer.

    That's crazy

  13. Just now, JohnAC71 said:

Yes I know but in recent years people don’t necessarily even get that unless they choose the top option. Most ASMED transplants are tech driven only. And then occasionally we see people choose the option where he will do the channel opening/incisions. Just wondering if he did all of yours ?

He did only incisions for me. I've never heard of techs doing incisions just extractions and placements
