  1. You should then discuss with your doctor about upping your dose to 1.25mg or so. I think that should be your first course of action. If the doctor gives the green signal, you should give it a try. At least, thats what I would do. PS: A friend of mine is on 1.25mg now. Like most, he started with 1mg. He s been on Fin for about 5 years now. He has had fantastic results on it so far with no side effects.
  2. How many mgs/day are you taking? You might respond well to a higher dosage. In fact, Fin's dosage is generally increased to retain its potency (in a cycle of 4-5 years) as the body gets used to the previous dosage and doesn't respond well after a while.
  3. This is rather rare! A top doctor says its useless to be on Fin if it dint work for a long period. I believe one year is a decent enough sample to judge. I don't remember where I read this. I don't remember who the doctor was too. It was one of the Coalition members. It could very well be Dr. Bernstein, as I read a lot of his stuff. If I was not having any side effects, I would have been on it for a few more months and stopped it if I felt it still wasn't helping. There is no point continuing after, as it is not wise to subject your body to pills unnecessarily.
  4. Lol Speegs! Thanks for your input mate. But, no. I am meticulous, which can often be mistaken for anxiety. I am the last person to get anxious. You can only appreciate it if you know me. Anyways, if it was self induced anxiety or that I am indulging in any sorts of paranoia, I wouldn't be calm and continuing the drug. This is precisely why I included point number 10 in my original post. I knew people are going to say I am imagining it. After noticing the mild effects like watery semen and embracing the 'new normal' in the first week, I had forgotten about Fin until I was reminded of it this week. I hope it's obvious I want to continue taking it, as we all know, Fin is the only drug that's going to help. So, I am looking for a strategy on how to go from here.
  5. Yeah, but, it's annoying to apply creams twice a day, everyday. Already there's Rogaine to be applied twice and now this too. It's getting a bit too much to do. Looking for an easy way out . Oral medications are much simpler!
  6. Hi again! I have become like this vampire thats clung on to the back with never ending questions. This one is the most important one of all so far. I need a game plan people. I have been taking Finasteride 1 mg (Finpecia, manufactured by Cipla) for close to two months now. I started taking it from the 10 th day post my hair transplant, as advised by my doctor. I was able to notice watery semen straight away. And also 'some' reduction in erection strength. As expected. And that was it. It settled down right there and it became the 'new normal'. But, after nearly two months, this week I have had a sudden, considerable drop in erection strength (two occurrences). I am still able to get it up though. But, I am guessing its alarmingly close to trouble. I am still continuing to take the tablet. I don't want to panic and stop it right way, unless it is the right thing to do. I have read random posts here in HRN suggesting to continue and that it would be back to normal in a while. There are some about cutting down the dose working pretty well for them. What's the game plan here for me? I haven't talked to my doctor yet. I am waiting to have a go at it after a few days and report it to her for her recommendation. Things worth mentioning: 1. I have been sorta feeling feverish the whole week. With mucous formation etc etc. Haven't taken any medications for that yet as its still not a proper fever yet. (I don't know if being feverish will bring down erection drastically. Never really bothered to notice these before.) 2. In the beginning of the week, I bit the Fin pill accidentally while swallowing. (The broken pill is a 'no no' for the women folk is what is cautioned. So, don't think that is a problem.) 3. I have been eating the same and the days have been the same. Generally a healthy, adequately nutritious diet. 4. I never took tests or anything to test the testosterone levels before starting Fin. 5. Never have taken Fin before. 6. Have been taking it post breakfast everyday. 7. Its been 5 days since noticing the first sign of trouble. 8. Not just while trying, but feeling sober down there in general. 8. Absolutely no other side effects. At least nothing noticeable so far. 9. 33 years old. 10. And, no! Its not in my head. Its real!
  7. Yo Mayaban! 1. FUE is not advanced than Strip/FUT. It is a bit of a contentious topic and you will never get to a conclusion that will be unanimously accepted by all. 2. Even though Delhi is 3 hrs of air travel, distance was not the problem as I did mine in Vizag, which is still an hour of air travel. Once I get on that plane, that extra 2 hours is not going to make any difference. Besides, air travel is free for me and my head office is in Delhi. If anything, Delhi would have suited me better. The reasons for not opting Sareen Hair Clinic are: 1. They are primarily a dermatology practice, who later became one of the many hair transplant centres which sprouted at the advent of modern FUE techniques and instruments. (Always choose a practice that does exclusive hair surgeries) 2. Dr. Sakshi Sareen is not a surgeon. And so she s not part of ISHRS. (She could be pretty good. I don't know. But, as a thumb rule, never go to someone who is not a board certified surgeon.) 3. They do only FUE. (Always choose a practice that does both) 4. They use Neograft. (Not a preferred FUE tool by the top doctors. Read what Dr. Bernstein has to say about it.) 5. Strip is a far superior method for a good yield if you are not bothered about the scar and recovery period (Which I am not). FUE nowadays produces mighty close yield and results to strip if not on par or beyond at the right hands (Generally the top doctors in the business - I don't think there is any in India) I know Sareen Hair Clinic has tempting prices. But, price should not be your first in the list of priorities. If you have cash crunch, I suggest you to wait for a while, save up money and get it done from a doctor who ticks all the boxes. As for to say that my Delhi friend has had good results from Sareen Hair Clinic, even Dinesh Ramdin has two test centuries. (Being an Indian, I am sure you get the cricket analogy) PS: Another friend of mine who saw him in person says the density is not good enough and he s able to see gaps between strands. Note: These are purely my opinions based on my research. I don't claim these are absolute facts. You should merely take this as guidance, if you choose to and make your own informed decision. Wish you a head full of hair! Cheers!
  8. Tomec, saw your pictures. I draw a parallel with Jude Law. He definitely looked the bomb with hair. But, he still is a good looking man without it too. Now, I am not saying you are Jude Law. But, you fall under the same category. I am the authority on aesthetics. Take it from me. Look no where else. You have pretty good hair now. Enjoy while it lasts. When you lose em all, buzz it to level 2. You should still be getting a date a week. Thats all a man can ask for!
  9. Yeah Gill! My current shampoo does the job fine. Don't think I'll have the need for Nizoral. I am using some creams for the eczema prescribed by the doctor. Internet is recommending apple cider vinegar orally. Any suggestions?
  10. Thanks Baldrick! That is scary. I started developing black dots on the cheeks and generally a dry skin all over. My dermatologist got scared it could have been a side effect from all the hair tablets and minoxidil he s been prescribing for 3ish years. He did a biopsy and I was diagnosed last year with chronic Eczema. Interestingly the dry skin started developing in the same timeline of the Ketaconazole and other hair stuff.
  11. I might have just had that. I don't see any other reason for him to have prescribed it to me for everyday use. But, if just another shampoo is helping me alleviate dandruff now, I guess its safe to assume there is no fungal infection anymore, even if it was there in the first place. So, I guess il give Keta a miss unless I get invaded by the dandruff army at some point later in time. Thank you Spex, Gill, E39 and Mike.
  12. Sup People?! I have a question about the big three. I think everyone is in 100 percent agreement that Propecia helps big and is a must if the individual chooses to take it after studying its side effects carefully. Rogaine on the other hand, even though is widely recommended and is agreed that it helps at some level if not like Propecia, some say it does more harm than being useful. Nizoral. This is were the views are polarised. Some swear by it. Some are dead against it. (I guess it is mostly about over usage of Nizoral and not the occasional use) I, for one, have had dandruff issues for years now. Before my hair transplant, my local Dermatologist recommended daily use of Ketaconazole (Brand: Ketafung). So, I did. Only when I started my research on hair transplant, I realised it is not such a straight forward choice. Anyways, too cut a long story short, post my surgery, I had some solid dandruff built up (Naturally, as I have been on a baby shampoo as per the PostOp instruction). I started using a shampoo called SebaMed once I was allowed to shift shampoos. It is an ultra mild, sulphate and paraben free, everyday shampoo. Surprisingly, it cleared all my dandruff. It is incredible I can be free of dandruff and still not subject my hair to harsh chemicals everyday. Godsend! So, I don't feel the need for a Ketaconazole anymore. But, a friend of mine is asking me to still use as it is part of the big three. (Yes, I know about the CLAIMS about its DHT blocking capabilities.) So, my big question is, is Nizoral a must, dandruff or no dandruff? Weigh in your opinions people. Also, I would appreciate comments on Rogaine. I have used it for 4 years with mixed results. I would get some crazy hair. Also, some crazy shedding. Should I get back on it? I haven't so far. I am 50 days PostOp.
  13. I have an update. My doctor just confirmed it is not an infection. Thanks for discussing it boys.
  14. You scared me. I feel like I am caught by my headmaster or something. This is there in the very beginning of the thread.
  15. Thanks Bill and Goodwally! Yes, it could an infection. It could be not. It goes off when I remove them like how we remove the scabs. And there was no pustules or redness or associated itching. I was under the impression that there will be pustules if its an infection. Most of it is gone now. But, I think il bite the bullet and call the doctor today. And about the pictures. I tried to click them even when I wrote the first post. Its just too thin and small for me to get that on camera. I gave up after a while. It looks more like the white hair I find on my beard. They are mucky and tissue like and don't get cut well by scissors. It just strikes me now. It could well be this. Some of my donor grafts could be having this property too and I am actually removing growing new hair? Lol! Hair surgery throws up new stuff at you everyday.
  16. Oh and on the shampoo discussion, have a look at SebaMed. Its an everyday shampoo. Its ultra mild. Free of sulphate and Paraben. And I think its incredible.
  17. WOW! Oil is not good? I have been using right from the 16 day PostOp, an oil that has a combination of Olive, Castorl, Rosemary, Sweet Almond, Jojoba, Grape Seed, Amla, Bhringraj, Neem and Tea Tree. I soak my head with it an hours or so before the shower. Dr. Blake is the first one who has reasoned why oil PostOp is not a good idea. I wish my PostOp had such detailed instructions. Or at least just jot down a list of things that shouldn't be done. Oil?! WOW!
  18. Haha! Dolph, I think you skipped my first post. I am fifty days PostOp. Thanks anyways.
  19. Forgotpass........I tried to attach pictures when I posted the question. But, the tissues are so thin and small, I am not able to focus them. Gillenator...........If anything, I thought I over did the scab removal rubs during my initial days. I was overzealous in my post op care. So, for the crusts to form and show up now is I think is remote. But, could be. That is why I tried to remove them off for two days. I was not comfortable to continue and so posted the question. I also have some stupid theories. 1. Generally when a wound heals, a thin, white skin forms over it, isn't it? I thought may be it was it. If it is, its a good thing. It means I am healing. 2. That they are dead/gone forever grafts which is showing up as dead cells in the form of tissues. LOL!
  20. Howdy! I am 50 days post op and I am seeing white tissue like things here and there coming along with some hair. They are not just lying on the scalp. They are definitely coming from the pores through which the hair is coming out. I have been trying to remove them off like how we remove the scabs in circular motion rubs, thinking it might be the shampoo residue or something and that I am not washing well. But, I don't think it's such a good idea, now that I see it's coming out of the pores. What are these? Should I remove them or just let them be?
  21. CuriousGirl Haha! I remember reading your posts on itching too. Very similar recovery like mine. I feel you! It gets better. Another week and you should be alright. One month mark and you l forget you ever had a transplant. Wish you a breezy recovery and happy growing. Cheers!
  22. Just realised this is an old thread. Never mind!
  23. It is not fake news. It happened. And its pretty old. It apparently was a case of a sex racket run by a gang on the bigwigs. He ended up settling a 1 crore deal to get out of the case. Only later the gang's activities came to light. The gang was recently arrested and he is exonerated from the charges. Morally sounds a bit dodgy, but, I don't see it changing a surgeon's skill overnight.
  24. I would like to thank David, Hairthere and Kuboid for making time to discuss stuff.
