  1. I wish we knew more about the circumstances for the discontinuation of Finasteride in Sweden, how tightly was Fin tied to permanent erectile dysfunction, its not like Swedish guys who are not on Fin cant have ED, and how old were the victims? How sexually capable were these men before they started on Fin and whos to say they wouldnt have gotten ED the next year no matter what? We cant know for sure that Fin was the sole cause, and we cant know how it affects a 50 year old white male compared to lets say a 23 year old black guy. What we do know is that none went impotent in the study i linked to earlier, not from Fin and not from Dut. The more i reflect upon it the less i worry, there are millions of ED victims who never touched a Fin or Dut and we still didnt find anyone on Dut who got ED the minute he touched it and never recovered. Between this very moment and 5 years from now a lot of men will get ED, some of them will be using Dut but most of them will not, all of them will have eaten potatoes but noone will rally to blame the potato. Ok thats too much, i stop here.
  2. Stop the personal crap guys. I respect you two disagree with my opinions but acting like hurt little girls should be below anyones standards. Stick to the topic and dont show any weird interest in my personal and financial life. Just disregard my previous comment and use this instead: "Despite reduced sperm volume caused by Finasteride my reproductive ability was proven to be adequate in 2 separate cases."
  3. And how bad is it to be bald? Some female facebook friends participated in a vote for most attractive action hero, Jason Statham won clearly with a lot more votes than guys like Arnold and Sylvester combined, and Bruce Willis did very well too, especially considered his age. Now imagine Jason and Bruce if they let their hair grow, half bald with combover, how lame is that? Shave your head guys, youll be surprised how many girls like it, being bald is only bad if you try to hide it, combover guys will never get any votes for being handsome. Its a big step but its the best you can do when the bald spot on top gets obvious, and you can always let it grow out again if ever you get treated. Holding on to thin hair is the worst you can do.
  4. Heres more important info, https://baldingblog.com/2005/11/22/can-miniaturization-be-reversed/ As you can see its not only me who doubt minox having any effect, dont get stuck with both, lots of people use Minox in addition to effective meds like Fin/Dut and think the Minox had anything to do with their result. The only guy in this forum who say Minoxidil is great was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and is likely taking Synthroid (or similar, its a thyroid steroid), a drug that is known to regrow hair in hypothyroid patients. Just base your research on facts, not feelings and 50-yearold "coolness", and youll be fine, the truth is out there and youre smart enough to eventually draw your own conclusion.
  5. Also read the dutasteride thread in this subforum, i posted a link to a study there, that looked on Dut in different dosaging, as you will see its not half bad. Other forums like this has a more positive view on Dut with more personal experiences.
  6. Maybe, but remember its too late to go to Dut when the hair has thinned too much, thats why i asked you to look at those twins who really COMPLETELY halted their hair loss with 0.5mg Dut. 2003-2013 without a lost hair for Twin A, you really will not find similar success stories with any other drug. I know of many Fin users who had several HT due to continued thinning, you can find some right here on this forum too.
  7. Wtf is this, are you trying to dictate me what to say, but cant present a single support for your claims that Dut is only a last resort? Are YOU listening to yourself? Start providing some better argumentation than a almost 50 year old man telling us whats cool and not. Or provide links to prove that your opinion is more COOL than mine. What a ridiculous claim, youre so cool and im not ahaha
  8. Immature to recommend the best? Look at Twin A in my link, 10 years and no hair loss due to Dut, is that immature also? You dont see results like that from Fin, and you still havent provided proof that Dut is more dangerous than Fin. And as I predicted you went for a personal attack by calling me immature, so typical people with strong feelings for his own personal opinion. Feelings but no facts. Facts please, now. Try to have a mature discussion where you present facts without calling me things.
  9. Im starting my own Dut experience soon, as soon as i dropped by Philippines to pick up some generic pills during my Asian vacation later this month. I have previously used both Minoxidil and Finasteride, Min didnt work at all and Fin had a limited effect on me - not worth continuation, call it a mistake if you want. Learn from other peoples mistakes, its faster and cheaper.
  10. Theres currently no basis for saying Dut is a last resort, it is more effective than Fin and no worse side effects. Unless anyone has a link to proof that is more than just their personal opinion its clear that Dut is the way to go. Beware of OPINIONS, everyone here got one but when asked to back it up they often resort to personal attacks when their personal opinions start leaking like a spaghetti strainer. For non-scientific and non-personal-profit experience with Dut this site is the place to start: Twins Hair Loss | Stop Thinning Hair Loss | Dutasteride
  11. Minoxidil and rogaine is the same thing, and it doesnt really work on its own. All the reports about people with good results are from those who just started it, the famous newcomer placebo effect, and people who are on other medications in addition. Finasteride and Propecia is the same, and it does a good job in halting hairloss but theres many reports of it losing some effect after many years use. Should be good for you though, if you are having another HT down the road anyway. Dutasteride seem to be the best to halt hairloss for long periods of time, there are some reported side effects but no worse than Finasteride i think, since Dut is more effective than Fin and no more risky i feel Dut is the obvious choice, Fin is like paying full price for half the fun. The best is of course to not use any medications at all, if you are ok with losing hair that is.
  12. To me it looks like very few are trying minoxidil now, its widely accepted that it doesnt work on its own, after 9-12 months virtually all minoxidil users have to admit to themselves that it was a waste of money. Finasteride had a major setback in popularity when it was discontinued for alopecia in some countries after the permanent erectile dysfunction reports, combined with its limited ability to regrow lost hair and reduced effect over time, the halt in hairloss is temporary for many Fin users, it could be a good thing that fewer are using it, people prefer permanent solutions. It looks like Dut is the last good hope for most balding people who dont care enough to cash out for expensive surgery, maybe its best to advice newcomers to go directly to Dut, after 5 years on Fin the hair could be so thin that Dut no longer has any chance to work well but some people who went straight to Dut hasnt had any thinning at all for 6-10 years and counting. Dut was almost impossible to obtain 10 years ago, the situation has since changed a lot, Dut should be the default go-to already.
  13. Agree that there are signs of miniaturization in the center of your crown, no doubt about it, unless you halt hairloss that area will begin to bald pretty soon, that area isnt easy to see in the mirror but everyone seing you from behind will see it all too well. I had a friend who thought his hair was doing great for his age but everyone else knew better. Are you on Fin or Dut to halt hairloss? Your donor area looks good but you will need a halting strategy.
  14. Thats not how i understand his post, i saw your thread and you had very good growth all along, the original hairs grew right back out and you had great regrowth on month 4. I think you know all too well that its not comparable. You really think he would be this worried if he were anywhere near your results? I had better growth after 5 months on Finasteride alone, no HT, my occasional girlfriend noticed it easily even in the dark, and he dont even have enough for the hairs to show up on a photo, lots of people gotten better results from minoxidil, wtf...
  15. You wanted him to compare to garagefrontman but obviously you left that schedule now. What schedule are you using for reference this time, and does it by any miraculous coincidence have no relevant reference photos? A reference schedule that obviously is so reliable and common must be very well documented with several cases, so why dont you link us to ONE of those so we can review this documentation that is so well known to you and yet so elusive to those in a similar situation?
  16. Even more kudos when he cough up evidence of others who still have invisible hair after 5 months but still lands impressive hair after 18 months. Noone is saying it will not improve over the next year, BUT... Nvm, No need to repeat the obvious.
  17. Thats my mistake then, sorry. Anyway, as you originally said, others dont have so poor results after 5 months, and i say they have better after one month, i dont think its a good idea to sit and do nothing for 4-5 more months like some here are suggesting. I agree that you cant expect great results after 5 months but you are talking INVISIBLE, no result at all, and that is the problem here. Dont let them tell you its normal, you should be seeing something by now.
  18. I never had any effect at all from minoxidil, but i did have a very good effect from cutting my heavy metal rocker hair, it looked tons thicker, same happened to a fellow heavy metal fan friend, when he came back from military service it was hard to believe it was the same hair. Much of what we see in your improvement could be just the haircut, minoxidil is known to not regrow hair, it will only stop loss and too often do nothing, i have a hard time buying that it works miracles on you. 7 months is not a long time in hair loss terms, you need to continue your regimen for some more years with yearly updates. However i will not discourage people from following your advices, as long as they have realistic expectations regarding "miracle" regrowth. Edit: And your diagnosed thyroid condition, if youre under treatment for it that alone could stop hair loss and regrow your hair, making your regimen void for everyone not taking thyroid medication. Its not uncommon for both hypo and hyper thyroid patients to see vast improvements after/during treatment, without minoxidil, sauerkraut, orange juice or salt. Also we must keep in mind that salt with iodine has a very different effect on hypothyroid patients like yourself compared to people with high or normal thyroid, hyperthyroid people can even die from iodine overdoses.
  19. Youre the one who suggest he compare with garageguy, who had great results after 1 month just like all other doctor fronters, how realistic is that? Read it, he has INVISIBLE hair that will not even show up in a photo, after 5 months, possibly the same now after SEVEN months how much more proof of failure do you need? Do i really need to post the 1 month photo of doctor fronter garageman to show how ridiculous your claim was? Dont make a mockery of the poor mans situation, he is screwed and need to do something drastic instead of sit there and wait for nothing. The probability that he can have a good result is now the same as growing wings.
  20. By the way, im not too worried about sexual side effects on Dut, if anything my sexual ability improved on Finasteride. I still suffer from lower sperm volume but one of my pretty friends got pregnant the first time we slept together, that was when i was taking Fin, and another girl claimed i had made her pregnant a few months after that again, why care about volume when the concentration and efficiency is ok. edit: I say this to present my personal evidence that low sperm volume doesnt mean lower fertility, Asian men will want to know since firing blanks is very shameful there, youre no man if you cant produce babies in Southeastasia and my experience is that low sperm volume is no cause for concern in that regard.
  21. I was somehow under the impression that it was available in 0.5mg but maybe not, i guess they use 2.5mg for prostate patients so that could be the only available dosage. Generic Dutasteride is available in tablets and can be divided, but if they have only capsules its ok to take 2.5mg every 5 days, Dutasteride has so long halflife that it makes no significant difference. I could post back here but having used Finasteride previously (6 month period) i know that results come very slow and gradual, it will take months before theres anything to report. Finasteride of around 1mg or less per day did give me some regrowth so i know theres potential, the additional inhibitor of Dutasteride may or may not make a significant difference, im curious to find out but sadly the only reliable success stories with Dutasteride i found online are about completely halting the hairloss but with no noticeable regrowth even after 6 years on Dut. This is must-read for those considering Dut, these guys have no agenda to separate you from your money: Twins Hair Loss | Stop Thinning Hair Loss | Dutasteride
  22. Its not normal enough to ignore, see a doctor, and you should too. I know you are saying this just to protect yourself, you are thinking "im a healthy person and i still lost my hair early". Everyone think they are healthy so your reaction is natural but not necessarily accurate. Im not saying anyone here is sick but i am saying one should have it checked, if everyone could diagnose themselves accurately we wouldnt need doctors or laboratories. Why you talk about surgeons? Endocrine reasons for hairloss sorts under endocrinology, not surgery. It doesnt help to change tires if the wheel alignment is wrong, dont take it personally when i say one must first rule out medical causes before starting to treat the symptoms.
  23. How can you compare that? Totally irrelevant, here we have a guy with no visible growth after FIVE months while garageland had a great growth after ONE month. Check his blog at UK Hair Transplant Blog |, look at the month by month photos, then read Alundras post again:
  24. Its been 2 months since your original post, how is it looking now? If its not good after 5-7 months its already a failure, yes it may grow more but a good result is out of the question, the best you can hope for now is "marginal". Too bad but the truth is that the chance for success is much smaller than the clinic will tell you, its an industry where marginal is acceptable and the clinic "always" win in court.
  25. Its not normal and lots of young men has regrown hair when treated for hyperthyroidism. Always have endocrine and metabolic functions checked when hairloss occurs early, untreated it causes heart damage over some time. You dont have to believe but at least dont deny the possibilty, discouraging people from seeking medical reasons is not helping anyone, i urge EVERYONE who loses hair early to get tested. Its too simple and cheap to ignore and risk cardiac and nevrological damage.
