  1. Thanks guys. Visited with Puig assistant yesterday(very nice lady even though not meeting with the actual doctor was disappointing) Meeting with Mcgrath's assistant(i guess) today in Houston since he's based out of Austin. Honestly i've kinda already got my mind made up between Arocha(i visited him once back in 2016) or Mcgrath even though i still visited with Puig's assistant yesterday, and going to visit another person Wednesday. The feedback i got from Puig assistant yesterday anyway was a quote of 800-900 grafts at 3600. I'm a 30 year old african american man, and primary i want to lower my hairline that has receded, she said FUT would be better for me. I guess i'm not surprised, while many people want FUE, my research seems to suggest FUT is the better option if you can get over the whole "i don't want a scar" hurdle, which many FUT supporters will say you're going have regardless of which procedure you do. I've also been on finasteride for a year now, so trying to take preventative measures as well.
  2. Hey guys, I'm in the process of visiting with hair restoration doctors the next few weeks, and just wanted to get what has been the experience of other individuals with these doctors. I'm going to meet with Dr. Dan Mcgrath, Dr. Arocha, Dr. Puig, and Dr. Jezic. Thanks.
  3. Oh wow, such forward questions. Going buy a brother dinner first lol Thanks for the feedback @Rashid36 @Harebrained
  4. Hey guys, I wasn't sure where to post this question, so i decided to post it here. Anyway my question is does masturbation or excessive masturbation can hair loss or thinning? I last year went to see Dr. Arocha in Houston, and asked him if masturbating causes hair loss, and he said no. I'm still skeptical though and wondering if my excessive masturbating habits is to blame for my thinning in my temple areas. Just some background on me, I didn't start masturbating until i was 24, in 2014. At that same time there was no thinning at all. In 2015, i started to notice thinning, and obviously here am I now in 2017 wondering if i'm to blame for my situation. Anyway in terms of my family history(i believe i've shared it on here), my father went bald in his 40's. My grandfather as well. I'll be 28 in June.
  5. Let me know how 0.5 mg works for you. Btw how do you take 0.5 mg, do you have to cut it up?
  6. I sincerely hope something better comes along to help with hair restoration that doesn't screw up your sex drive. Propecia and avodart both seem to do this. The whole point of men trying to save their hair is look more sexually attractive so they can get sex. Keeping your hair via drugs, to be more attractive to women, but then you can't even enjoy sex defeats the purpose.
  7. No but i've noticed some shedding(which is supposedly normal i guess) from the rogaine but that's another subject. As for your question, No I haven't noticed any shedding from the shampoo, but i just want to use whatever shampoo will be the most effective in my preventative regime.
  8. Which one is most effective? 1% or 2%. I've been using 1% for about 3 weeks but thinking about getting the prescription so I can get 2%.
  9. Thanks Mahhong. I think i'm going stick to Rogaine, and Nizoral shampoo. I love having hair but i love being able to enjoy sexual gratification more. My hair is extremely important though, especially for the industry i'm trying to get into(Acting), so hair transplants will be in my future, and i'm at peace with that.
  10. Has anyone here used it for hair loss? And if you have what were your experiences? Any side effects.
  11. Hi guys, My name is Michael. I'm a 27 year old African American male who noticed thinning at my hairline/temple areas at 25. At first i contributed it to excessive masturbation from 2014 & 2015 but after meeting with Dr. Arocha (i live in Houston) he told me that wasn't true and explained to me what was going on(hairline receding) Anyway i don't want to be long winded during my consultation he gave me a medical regimen for men which was 1. Rogaine 5% twice daily 2. Propecia one per day 3. Nizoral Shampoo - lather every other day x 5 minutes 4. Biotin 5 mg daily 5. Laser Cap Pro (Laser Light cap) My question i've purchased the Rogaine 5%(topical solution), Nizoral Shampoo, and Biotin. I've started the process of using them, however i reluctant to invest in Propecia because of the sexual side effects, and some of the stories i've read on forums and youtube. I'm just wondering minus the Propecia, can i still have success maintaining the hair i have even if i don't use Propecia. Outside of my temples thining i have no other hair loss. As for a hair transplant procedure(just can't afford it now) it's definitely something i want to do as i get older. Not just because i look most attractive with hair but because of the type of industry i want to get in(Acting/Film). Family history, Dad lost his hair at 40-41, Grandfather, 48. My mother's father, i don't know his hair history. I appreciate all those who read and give me honest feedback.
