  1. Dear all, as some of you know, i had two consultations last week with Both Dr Devroye and Dr Feriduni of Belgium. I was generally impressed with the overall experience and certainly benefited from the time spent with these coalition surgeons. They are certainly true professionals and there was nothing unethical about their approach to my situation. So what did i learn? - my hair density seems to be at least average (approximately 75/80cm2?) - hair thickness equates to approx 0.65 (not sure how this measures up to averages etc) - FUE surgery is certainly plausible. I would require somewhere between 1500 - 1800 grafts (the latter would include temple work) and could be achieved in one sitting (not sure if this is a good thing though?) - Dr Fellars punch probably wouldn't be used during the op (Dr D was expecting a new tool to arrive the day after my consultation/Dr F was sticking to current methods but might use the 'fellar punch' further down the line) Bill (Bill), if poss, it would be great to hear more from Dr Devroye on this new tool. He seemed very excited by it but i couldn't quite get my head around all the mechanics! In brief, he expects this tool not only to deliver a more efficient proceudure but possibly a quicker one too (i believe the instrument speed can be adjusted)
  2. Thanks TC, i'm looking to have my first hair op in the coming months (maybe October). Its been suggested that i go for 1500-1800 and my preference is FUE.
  3. TC, can i ask who you went with? You state "unfortunately not", any reason for this comment? I've just returned from Belgium having had consultations with Dr Feriduni & Dr Devroye...
  4. Sorry, one more thing from me then i'll shut up (I can hear everyone say "thank goodness" ) The punch seemingly will produce better results (because of it's efficiencies) so why should i choose to use a dr that rarely provides albums for viewing? What does this forum judge as consistent by way of volume/no of photo submissions? Dr Fellar, for peace of mind I would rather come to NY but this means a boat there and back (which is far more expensive!). Out of interest, have you had any clients that have done this?
  5. Thanks again Dr Fellar. For me as a patient, the results may be consistent but how do I know that a fairly newish techican isn't performing my op? i appreciate that they probably undergo extensive training but we'd all probably opt for experience/and a dr any day of the week. In relation to consistency, i think there's plenty of doctors that submit their success weekly/monthly but there are others that we only occassionally hear from (i personally get a little scared by this - maybe there's no reason to though) Re your FUE punch, you've mentioned that this will "likely translate into higher quality grafts rather than lower cost ones." This being the case, i'm really hope more doctors jump on board sooner than later (for the benefit of all hair loss pple)
  6. Dr Fellar, thank you for your quick response. I hate to appear stupid but what do we mean "Score the skin with the punch"? You state that the dr MUST be the one who carries this through yet HH doubts this? I'll simply have to find out by asking all performing doctors I guess! Assuming the doctor of initial choice doesn't undertake this elememy, i guess it's advisable that the patient doesn't proceed with this surgery? Ultimately, we have no real idea of the technicans background/experience so it could potentially be quite a worrying affair throughout the op (even if the doctor is part of the coalition) If anyone else would like to contribute to this (especially those that have had FUE) please do...
  7. Brilliant - cheers Spex!! The burden is getting lighter
  8. Appreciate the doctors may not always have the time to respond to these posts, so maybe someone else can enlighten me? I'll be seeing Dr Ferduni soon anyway so i'll discuss his routine with him in further detail. Really just trying to find out how involved the dr should be with a fUe operation? Are most practices the same and what should a patients realistic expectations be? Thanks everyone!
  9. Good luck friend, i hope you have amazing results!
  10. Splendid - cheer Spex! When everything is in place, would you mind dropping me a note with available dates and timings please. Re the actual session, i'm guessing there is no variance between doctors/surgeons (this is in no way comparable to the hair operation is it). I just want to be absolutely sure!
  11. Oh, it just gets better and better!! This hair business would be such a nightmare without this forum. Thank goodness for the web! Spex, can you give us a clue to location and cost please? Happy to be in the queue... (although, not to far back )
  12. Thanks Dr Fellar - I will bear this in mind. Re implementation in the UK, how long off are we looking please? I know this is pending success but it would be good to have an indicative time scale if poss. Cheers again!
  13. Thanks Johnny. Good luck and please keep us posted on your progress...
  14. Questions all answered. Thank you Dr Shapiro for taking the time to respond. Much appreciated!
  15. This certainly does help Serious. Thanks friend for taking the time to find this! If any members can comments on the effectiveness of regaine to the frontal/temple regions it would be appreciated!
  16. All, i can say is "Yippeeeeeeeeeeeee!!" - this is really exciting news Dr Fellar, could i combine a ht (for my frontal area) with PRP at the same time/a couple of days later? Regrettably, i'm not a keen flyer so i would have to board the boat there and back! Great stuff - keep it up!
  17. Brilliant stuff - cheers Dr Shapiro. Do the survival rates listed above (i.e. 95% - under 4 hours) apply to both FUT and FUE? At SMG, could a patient have a total 8 hour session split over 2 days to maximise yield. If so, would this cost any more? I probably need somewhere between 1600-2000 grafts and would be interested to know how long this would take via both methods? Again, great write up - many thanks!
  18. Although i agree that this chap has a good amount of hair (most of us chaps that are NW3+ would love to be in this position) we all know that it's not as simple to just "forget about it". Macca, you will note that most of the forum are discouraging a hair op so stick with the proven/best solutions and take photo's maybe every 6 months (you want to get out of the mirror as much as possible )
  19. Serious, is there any evidence to show that Regaine was only tested in the crown area? Grateful if you could send me a link or something please. Where we get to, is that Regaine does the same job all over. It seems to make no difference whether it's the front or back. In your case, it seems to have worked and that's great! Newly, keep us posted on your results friend...
  20. Yes, potentially FS (maybe just for the day) and thanks for the sending through the link. Slightly concerned however, as i've just visited the ISHRS website and noted that there are approximately 17 surgeons on their UK Listing!? I've been led to believe that the Farjo's were only recommended by this forum,so how comes this establishment is listing all these others!? If their methods are historical and not on par with today's standards isn't this extremely dangerous to those who aren't aware of this community!? I'm assuming many of these doctors will also play an active role in this event? Can someone advise - i'm confused!
  21. Serious, is this your experience? Have you applied to the front?
  22. Serious, I'm interested by your comments. Was regaine definitely only tested in the Crown area? I've always refrained from using regaine foam at the front and would be interested to know if other members of this forum share the same opinion. Which members have have had a positive experience?
