  1. Yeah, buddy! You're looking great for 6 months. I had a little gap in the density of mine in the v at the front of my hairline which has since filled in very nicely. The fact that yours looks really dense at this stage is very promising. I can see what you mean about the texture - it will resolve, albeit slowly. If it bothers you, I found that using conditioner and leaving it in for a couple of minutes while showering in the morning greatly helps to soften the hair. Another Hasson Home Run.
  2. Looking really good HTsoon - crown starting to come in nicely! I've heard before that the crown is notoriously slow to come in but it looks like you're well on your way - those side-by-sides really show a big improvement. Your transformation from before your first procedure to where it's gonna be in a few months is dramatic - congrats and really happy for you.
  3. Glad to hear it buddy. I agree with you 100%, and felt very much the same way. You just stop feeling anxious/worrying about it constantly. I didn't realise how much the constant worrying used to drain me mentally until I stopped. The novelty of having a strong head of hair certainly hasn't worn off for me yet either, and I do feel happy with the result every time I see myself in the mirror. You are also probably right in that it isn't the HT directly that's doing that, but it does have such a positive effect on your whole general outlook, which in turn affects the way other people respond to you. That's my opinion at least. Thanks for the pictures. Your hair will thicken up and also soften, although the softening does happen very gradually. My transplanted hair curls, especially on the one side, although it still looks completely natural. I am now just starting to notice the hair at the root seems to sit flatter, but I think I'll have to wait the full year until it's as soft as my native and gorwn out to the extent that the old, wiry hairs have been cut off. Really happy for you mate! Seeing Dr H is one of if not the best decisions I've ever made and I'm happy to see others thinking the same (you, me, spidey, noair etc.)
  4. Hey Panda, Hope you're doing well. Hair is looking solid as hell right now, yet there's still lots more to look forward to. Trust me when I say that it keeps getting better and better and you're exactly where you want to be right now. Another great Hasson result IMO. Any pics of how everything looks when it's dry/styled?
  5. Ernie, Looking super mate, it really does. I am also of the opinion that it looks basically flawless and you shouldn't do anything more for now. You have good density, solid temple points and, if you ever want to in future, a great donor supply for top ups. I also think your scar turned out great. Especially if you're gonna wear your hair longer. Like you said, once it's at a length you usually have it, you've got no concerns. BTW, did your hair soften up as you approached the year mark? Mine is still a touch wiry at just short of 9 months.
  6. This is excellent advice which thoughtfully considers the OP's future as well. Couldn't agree more.
  7. Thanks for the shout, HTsoon! Yes, I wear my hair short on the back and sides - 3 blended into a 2 below the scar. At the length the OP has his hair there is no way you would be able to see even a very bad scar.
  8. Thanks Over-Rated. Do yourself a favour and do not judge your result according to others. I also think I was a pretty early grower. The next few months for you are where it will really start to happen - months 5-8 make a very big difference. My right side lagged behind my left, so no need for concern on that front. As I write I'm trying to think of exactly when I noticed certain things happening, but it's hard to do. The changes are so slow and gradual that it's hard to pinpoint specific improvements from month to month. Thinking about it, this was my personal timeline (so far): Month 3 - Hairs just starting to appear and outlines of a hairline, one side appearing before the other. Shock loss all the way along my scar, which is very red. Month 4 - Coverage pretty good, with a pretty defined hairline, but hairs are still very thin. New hair seems to stick straight up. Slow spots and evidence of lagging on one side. Shock loss still not recovered. Month 5 - Coverage looking solid now, and coming in strong. Individual hairs improving too, but not by much. Lagging still evident on one side. Shock loss much better. Month 6 - I could tell at this stage the result was going to be good. Hairline very defined and hairs starting to mature, but still stick up. Lagging side much less evident and shock loss mostly recovered. Hard to tell if any new hairs are appearing as coverage is already very good. Month 7 - Hair texture still improving and thickening, although still curlier than normal. Hair appears less wiry and darker. Shock loss not an issue now and the scar is white and hard to detect. Month 8 - More improvement in the texture but still not as soft as it could be. Hair is starting to look like it is sitting flatter towards the root and more in line with the general direction of other hair. Everything is looking very good at this stage. Which doc did you go to and how many grafts? Thanks, David!
  9. As promised here are some pictures following a haircut I had today. They're presented slightly differently so you can see more of my head. To say I'm pleased with how it's turned out is an understatement
  10. Thanks HTsoon! I see your second procedure is coming along nicely - congrats.Sometimes I do feel like I should've gone down the FUE route like you did, but that's me really nitpicking. No negative sides to report. As Over-Rated pointed out there are a number of very subtle but positive side benefits to progesterone. It's actually a master hormone so can convert to other hormones as and when needed by the body, which is a bonus. I would say that (for me at least) any added benefits are very subtle or i'm just too used to them by now to notice. The only exception is the relaxing effect which makes you sleepy - I only ever take mine in the evenings because of this. Actually works out really nicely for me. I can imagine if you took them in the morning and went to work you'd feel pretty buggered haha! Again, as Over-Rated correctly pointed out, it is prescription only. That IS very interesting! I can't remember if it was with you, but I remember discussing the possibility of progesterone sides on here before. No one was certain whether the typical sides associated with fin were as a result of DHT itself being blocked (like with any 5ARI) or if it was the fin itself. If it was the class of drugs, then anything that would act as a 5ARI (as fin does AND progesterone does) would inevitably lead to the same sides. Unfortunately there are no studies that I know of where they have tried to isolate each process separately and see what happens. That last sentence is particularly compelling. It could potentially be that fin causes progesterone to dip drastically and that 's the real reason for the sides. Very ironic! Thank you David! You were instrumental in this process for me and I cannot thank you enough - best decision I've ever made. It would be great to catch up for a beer the next time you are in London - just let me know.
  11. Thanks, Spidey. Very happy indeed. Thanks for your kind words. I take 100mg every TWO days. I would wait at least 6 months before seeing if there's been any discernible difference to your hair. Let me know how it goes. I didn't notice any positive effects aside from helping me sleep on nights I took it.
  12. So my surgery was exactly 8 months ago yesterday - how time flies! Not much to report really, things seem to be always improving. My hair is longer than it ever has been, mainly due to not being able to get an appt at my barber and for no other reason. As my hair is longer I have noticed the difference in the hair shaft as the grafts begin to settle down. The ends (which were formed some months ago) are much, much curlier - my hair is normally arrow-straight. I have also noticed that towards the root of each hair (which is newer) the hair sits more naturally, whereas before it tended to stick straight up. All in all the maturation of the hair is bringing about positive changes and I may post an update after my haircut next week to see how it looks when it's shorter. I have also found that the scar is more noticeable as my hair gets longer - the temple region above my ears is pretty weak, so the hair never really gets long there. As a result when anything above it gets longer the hair kind of sits up. You can see a crease in the picture if you look very closely on the right hand side only, but it's not something a layman would ever notice. Aside from that I'll let the pictures do the talking. Any feedback welcomed/
  13. Thanks for your kind words, noob My scar is longer than ear to ear - it wraps around my entire head basically. Thankfully it's really hard to spot. I've included a couple of pictures of the back of my head. I get my hair trimmed down to a #3 and a #2 for areas below the scar line. It might also be worth noting that I did have shock loss around my scar that's only recently rectified itself in the past few months. Thank you hsrp and Jax, much appreciated - I am extremely happy.
  14. Sorry Bacon! You're in what I found to be the absolute worst stage - time seemed to really drag. Keep your chin up, good times are just around the corner. By 5.5 months the change was dramatic.
  15. Thanks Home! Thanks Ernie! Much appreciated. I am very pleased so far and have had many compliments. Although I can't help but think I should have gone FUE.. Would have been nice to be able to shave it a little tighter on the back and sides, but that doesn't mean I'm any less thrilled with how it looks now. How have you found things have changed for you from months 7 to where you are now (i think 9..?).
  16. Looking right on track buddy. Hardest part is over and the next few months are where it's at
  17. Here's an update at 7 months. Everything seems to be moving along nicely. Hair is still a little crinkly in spots which is to be expected at this point. Looking forward to the hair softening up over the next few months, but in all honesty if everything stopped now I'd still be over the moon. I can't thank Dr H enough - he did a good job i think!
  18. Do not go to this doctor. Another forum user called Sam23 had a terrible experience which is still causing him problems. Search for his post history if you like.
  19. Sam, I have been reading your posts and following your story for a while now and I have to say that my heart truly breaks for you. Your situation sounds horrible and I do sympathise. A hair transplant is something that you pin your hopes and desires on and the realisation that you are worse off than before must be truly crushing. That being said, everything Mikey has said is true. Yes, we are reading and we feel bad but you post the same things day in and day out and it's been going on for months and months. No one on this forum will be able to help you so stop asking us and go find some real answers. I cannot believe I am telling this to a grown man, but most of the Doctors recommended on this site will not trawl through posts by forum users like us looking for people to help on a daily basis, so I'm not surprised you've not got an answer so far.Try contacting every single surgeon recommended on this site. Call or email them and include pictures or talk to them via skype.. Explain your problem and if one person cannot help then move onto the next one and try again. If that doesn't work, Google names of dermatologists in Europe or North America or anywhere you can feasibly travel to and repeat the process with them. This is a problem that is obviously having a SERIOUS negative psychological effect on you as well, and I urge you to please go find a solution. I am also worried that after Mikey told you about Accutane a week ago you are saying you are already on the 11th pill in just over a week. What the hell are you doing?? Accutane is a VERY harsh drug and you cannot continue to use it for prolonged periods without it having potentially VERY serious adverse health effects. You seem to have just jumped straight into taking it and that worries me greatly. Please seek some proper help instead of sitting at home worrying about this - you are driving yourself mad.
  20. I'm sorry but the work doesn't look great. You should have written something before undergoing a second procedure with the same doc - it's unlikely that you'll get a good result 2nd time around if the 1st wasn't great. I hope you see improvement and do keep us all updated.
  21. Like I said, I'm rooting for you! I've seen more bad examples recently, but I also have seen that he is capable of good work as well. I also hear his prices are pretty competitive. That being said, I wouldn't go to him myself. All the best and keep us updated.
  22. Hi Bob, I'm a little late to the party but yeah, the first night is DEFINITELY the worst. The clinic gave me percocet which I think was meant to last a couple of days but I took them all in the first night and it didn't even help that much. I have a high pain threshold and have broken bones in the past (my jaw - it was horrible) and the first night after my HT was the worst pain I'd ever encountered. The good news is that it never is that bad ever again. From now the most annoying thing will be the staples, which will still be there for a couple of weeks. Glad to see you got the personal touch from Dr. Hasson. You get what you pay for. He was also my Dr and I had a procedure done back in May. If you get a chance (and are so inclined) please do think about doing a full write up of your experience and results etc - I would love to follow your progress. Happy growing
  23. I'll be honest with you and say that you will get coverage, but I doubt you'll get the density you desire from just the one pass. It is my personal opinion that the doctor you chose does not pack grafts in anywhere near as densely as he should. I am rooting for you, but I just feel he tried to spread the grafts a little too thin.
