  1. 40 yrs old. Currently I'm a NW4 with pretty even thinning (no completely bald spots yet). Most of my loss is in the crown, but also experiencing loss in the front hairline.

I am looking to redefine my hairline (nothing too aggressive) and increase density in the front and mid scalp. I would also like to add some density to the crown, but that is low priority. I'm considering FUE with approximately 3500 grafts. Total donor is estimated at 4500 grafts.

Both surgeons have given very similar plans. H&W's plan is slightly more aggressive in that they would do 3500 grafts in one session but Rahal will be split over two sessions. I still have some hair to work around, so the grafts will need to be strategically placed with skill.

Honestly, your lifetime donor is very low, and below the average. Therefore, without seeing any pictures, you most likely do not have the luxury of being aggressive. Instead you need to find a more conservative surgeon, and even consider not having a procedure unless your expectations are kept in check. Based on what you described, I don't think Dr Rahal is the right fit for you. I also don't think Dr Hasson is either, at least not for FUE. Dr Hasson would be my pick for you if you had average to an above average donor supply. I also think you should consider strip FUT to maximize your lifetime donor supply of grafts. I would recommend Dr Ron Shapiro or Dr Konior instead.

  2. Hello all,

I am a NW 4 with diffused hairloss and am looking to work on my hairline and add density to the top of the scalp as a part of my first Hair Transplant.

I am based out of Vegas and I am considering doing my surgery locally or in the neighboring states. Based on my research, I am very keen on getting a surgery done with Dr Rahal clinic as they seems to do a very good job with the hairline. However the only results posted online seem to be the work of Dr Rahal himself.

If I consider their US offices, a Rahal trained physician would perform the surgery and hence I am a bit concerned if this would be a wise choice.

Does anyone have any experience getting a HT done with a Rahal trained surgeon ?

Do they deliver similar results as Dr Rahal ?

I am specifically considering their LA office.

    Thanks in advance.

There are plenty of patient posted Rahal results, incl Home, WIn, Ernie, myself and Matt amongst many others. See some links below. Dr Rahal is not licensed to perform surgeries in the US. I am not sure about any Rahal trained physicians in the States, but if there are, why would you not just fly to Ottawa and let the master perform the procedure instead of an apprentice? My understanding is that his US based offices are just for consultations.

  3. Hi guys,

I've been considering a hair transplant for over a year now and I'm close to making a decision. I've narrowed down my top docs to Hasson (H&W) or Rahal.

I have had an opportunity to meet with both in person, but I'm honestly torn on which one to choose. Both were extremely professional and I had a positive experience with both.

I'm interested in some feedback from this community. Thanks in advance!

You landed on two of the best, exactly where I landed a few years ago. Both are different, so before we can give you advice, can you share with us your present situation and what you are looking to achieve with this procedure, I.e. Crown work or hairline; are you a low NW or. High NW; what is your life time donor supply ect ect. Please can you also share with us what both surgeons recommend for you?

  4. Hello members,

I just became a member on here after researching many blogs and finding this one to be the most trustworthy and honest. I'm beginning to start my consultation period before hair transplant and need advice. I want at least five doctors that I can meet with location is not a factor. Preferably within he United States and Canada. I want to try to find the best doctors which I know might not real but I guess the ones with the best outcome and recovery. What's important to me is the procedure but also the communication afterwards. So far I have these doctors:

    Dr. Feller- New York

    Dr. Hasson and Wong-Canada

    Dr. Marc Dauer

I had Dr Alvi Armani but after reading reviews on here he seems very shady.

Any help would be highly appreciated or thoughts on who I have so far. I'm so glad I found this site thank you to all the members

    Here are my top 5:

    Dr Hasson

    Dr Ron Shapiro

    Dr Rahal

    Dr Konior

    Dr Wong

  5. There is no “selection” choice between me and Dr. Bloxham. Not at anytime. We are an unbreakable team. So no patient can ever make a valid claim that they expected Feller for surgery but was blindsided on the day by only getting Bloxham.

Should a patient ask to only have me perform the surgery to the exclusion of Dr. Bloxham I would deny the request. To date not a single person has made this request. Should a patient happen to make this request just before a procedure I would deny that request as well. To date not a single person has made this request either. But if they did I would give them their deposit back and go enjoy the free time.

But what these posters have yet to realize is that I give nobody the choice to decide whom I will include in my procedures nor how I will perform my procedures. The Queen of England herself could come into my office tomorrow and say I want my two grandchildren to have their procedures with you Dr. Feller, but only with you and not Dr. Bloxham. And I would deny Her Royal Highnesses request even at the risk of being sent to the Tower because I treat all patients the same and know that having Dr. Bloxham on board makes my procedures better and my practice better.

    Dr. Feller

Hope that answers your question. I would also encourage you, in addition to viewing his online patient results, also read through the various posts on this forum by Dr Feller himself.

  6. Thank you very much for this information, and bonus point for appologizing to Dr. Feller! I appreciate good behavior.

    @Dr. Feller,

However, cause the offer was made to me (several times) and I even exposed my name to you (Dr. Feller), I would like to learn the "full context" as well. Not receiving any answer to my posts and/or my personal message is not very polite. Especially, when private discussions take place with a 3rd forum member about me.

If the interviews are performed without me, I am of course happy that they take place anyway. I even mentioned this way myself or voted for another moderator like Spex. However, I hope some of my questions (which started all this) are included and (most important) numbers are dicussed (not just: fuss is better than FUE).

In general, I do not understand why you (Dr. Feller) asked me anyway, if you plan to procede alone. You have made the same offer before to another user long ago. Therfore, you had plenty of time to procede alone.

Gas, I completely agree with you, and I strongly encouraged Dr Feller to make public the message he had sent me. I think it is unfair to the community for him and you to have started something on a public forum and then to suddenly take it offline without keeping us updated on the happenings behind the scenes as well as the final conclusion and reasoning behind it. That is what set me off in the first place and more transparency probably would have killed off the whole mess before it escalated. Us laymen expect transparency, especially when something was started on a public forum. it is for this reason that I hope Dr Feller will relay to this community what he relayed to me.

Additionally, Gas, it is also possible that you yourself may not have been 100% transparent with us either. Perhaps you can start by sharing with us the full reasoning, if any, that Dr Feller provided you initially as to why he could not accept some of your conditions? Also, interesting that you are now mentioning Spex. I thought you always agreed to participate in the interview yourself. Why all of a sudden are you mentioning that you recommended someone else take you place?

Finally, as has always been my position, it is unclear why Dr Feller needs a 3rd party involved in the interviews when he always planned to record the conversation. I am glad that he has decided to proceed without a 3rd party nonetheless, and look forward to seeing if he has success.

  7. Feel free to prove me wrong then. If you produce recordings of the interviews or Gas confirms to all of us that he was on the 3 way call where you made a good faith attempt to conduct the interviews, then I will retract and post an apology in bold on this thread and ask the moderators to delete my previous statements on the matter or delete them myself. And no, I will not disclose my real name when I do so.

All, Dr Feller just sent me a very curtious and professional private message that explained and went into detail the full context behind why he has not been able to accept all of Gas's conditions. He also stated that he is attempting to conduct those interviews without Gas. I believe him. I really hope that Dr Feller will share with everyone what he has shared with me as I think it adds the context that has been missing. Looks like it could turn into a he said vs she said situation between Dr Feller and Gas if he did, but I still feel that he does himself justice by posting what he sent me. With that being said, I believe that Dr Feller is in fact making a good faith effort to conduct the interviews, and I am therefore retracting my previous statements on the matter. I have already deleted the relevant posts on this thread, and request that the moderators delete the one in the locked thread. Finally, although Dr Feller wrote that he doesn't expect an apology, I AM GOING TO FORMALLY APOLOGIZE TO HIM.

  8. As someone who has studied law, can I just say please cut the total bullshit here Doctor Feller. There is no legal retribution you can claim for him calling a bluff and legally and objectively it is not undeniably untrue, it is entirely unfalsifiable at this point. You have no legitimate case if there are no damages and what he is saying is not demonstrably false, as at the current moment he is neither correct or incorrect. You made a claim you would do something, and as of yet have not followed through, despite having your conditions met.

He also says, "and if he did, they will never in a million years agree to the interview" in his comment and therefore he is not offering his comment as a statement of fact, which is the most important point to note that this is not defamation.

You're embarrassing yourself. Did you suddenly become a lawyer now too?

Well said mate. You nailed it absolutely perfectly!

  9. mav23100gunther,

Are you sure you want to continue accusing me of engaging in a "bluff" in a public forum ?

Feel free to prove me wrong then. 10. It really depends. I think this forum has its moments, and is just going through a quiet patch at the moment. I remember my first year here in 2015 when things were extremely active with the likes of Busa, LondonHT, Taurisrisen, LeftyGolfer, the Dr Feller vs Dr Bahatti debate, the infamous FUT is more popular than FUE thread, the introduction of mFUE, JTs new business venture and subsequent fight with the moderators, the Professor allegation, the emergence of Dutchie, Paleo singlehandedly starting a chain of events that ultimately lead to Dr Dogany being stripped of his recommendation, Sunnycools outstanding transformation from his procedure with Dr Shapiro playing out before our eyes, Hasson & Wong posting their very first FUE procedures and many more noticibles. 2017 has definitely felt more quiet than 2015, but it's probably also the bi-product of the Moderators doing a good job in weeding out some of the bad apples that caused the most drama, as well as not many new delopements happening in the industry. I will also admit that I was sad to see Dutchie getting banned as he was a real character.

  11. So I'm about a week and half shy of 8 months, I changed my hairstyle from a side part to a slicked back pompadour, it's working wonders on the crown, the coverage is so much better, these photos are taken under different bathroom lighting, at different angles, so far I'd say this surgery has been a success, the growth I feel has been steady but slow, I expect the hairs to mature as the months pass. Hopefully I won't need another surgery for a while but never say never ;)

Outstanding results to date mate. Looking real good, especially from where you started.

  12. Any Update?

Now that I have passed the 18 month mark, I am overdue an update. I will work on some pictures this weekend, and post before and after shots to close this baby out. Basically, the difference between 12 months and 18 months is negligible to the human eye, but it became noticible to me in the ease in which it has become to style my hair from month 12 to 18. I still need work in the mid-section, but a few shakes of Toppik easily masks that, so I will hold off for a few years before getting that addressed.

Also must admit that my social life has done a complete u-turn. 3 years ago I was getting no looks from the ladies at all, but now I that has changed completely and I get a lot more eye locks, smiles, and second glances - it's really nice. I've also been approached a few times when out and about (that never used to happen). I'm also dating a sweetheart who is a looker herself, so I have had to politely decline the approaches, but it's been great for my confidence. Career wise, I am also striving.

Bottom line, getting the transplants changed my life for the better, and I owe it all to Dr Rahal and my 1st surgeon.

  13. Sorry, I answer in here, cause the other thread was closed. Unfortuantely, I have been on a business tripp and could not access the forum (as I do not like to use the company computer). Please apollogize for the late reaction.

Like i mentionen before: If you agree to the conditions which I send by PM and stated in the forum, I would love to be part in this.

Please, Dr. Feller, I did not spoke "out of turn". You (!) mentionend two clincis, which (by chance) I had visited before. This is what I wrote:

QUOTE: "I second this choice of surgeons. Personally I had a consultation with two of them in the past, and going to have a further consultation up soon with one of them.

My questions will be after the ongoing discussion here:

    - Why did they not recommend FUT but FUE for my case exactly (the gave some explanatio but I will deep dive and ask again).

    - Which number of grafts is there borderline between FUE and FUT (in average) in their opinion.

I second this choice of surgeons. Personally I had a consultation with two of them in the past, and going to have a further consultation up soon with one of them.

    - Which number of grafts is there borderline between FUE and FUT (in average) in their opinion

By the way and without judging the methods by this statement: Both of them told me that their majority of work is FUE today. Only one mentioned a number (or maybe from only one I recall) and it was > 90 %. " END OF QUOTE

Furthermore, there is nothing to "ommit". I even gave some specifics to my case, after a poster asked me, why I am going for second visit:

QUOTE"Because I am a difficult case (DPA with bad hair/skin contrast and low hairline), I am planning carefully. I have to decide between several options to start (Front and top, only front, only front in a very conservative way). FUT or FUE depends also on the options I pick. Therfore I am going back to check, after now 2 years on meds, how stable the loss is and which option is best." END OF QUOTE.

Like mentioned before, I am happy to have such a discussion. I am happy to give you (!) my name, if it is not publised online. But my conditions was also to "keep it clean", if the clinic opts in or out. I do not want to be part in a slugfest.

I will ask the clinic I visit this questions anyway, but I admit that with your knowledge the discussion would be much more valuable.

You called his bluff. The said Dr has no intention of conducting this conversation with FUE doctors and recording it. The reality is that I can't even see them ever agreeing to it. If he he really wanted to or thought he do it, then he would have done this already. I still don't understand why he needs you to disclose your real name to him before he agrees to do it. Rejecting your perfectly reasonable conditions is very convenient.
