  1. Thanks a lot for all your replies and reasonings that came with them. It would be also comforting to read some testimony of someone who used mild cold water or cold water in hair washes after hair transplant and had good HT results. Many thanks again.
  2. Many thanks for the answer. Any other feedback or personal experience of cold water after HT during hair wash and its outcome? I am still concerned about it when I think about the vasoconstriction cold water might produce in the just transplanted new grafts with blood flow still not consolidated enough.
  3. Option SMP: it seems to be more conservative, less risky because as far as I know it is reversible in time (it will fade and finally disappear), it is cheaper, less time consuming (no post op) and it preserves your donnor. I do not know how SMP would match your current hair length. This is a point to consider. Option HT: it would look more natural (undetectable if done by a good surgeon) but you will “burn” more grafts from your donor, specially because crowns need much more grafts than other areas.
  4. I started to get concerned because I have been applying cold water in the first hair washes after hair transplant. I reviewed my post operative instructions I realised it is written “warm water” and not cold. I was using cold water but not extremely cold because I watched some YouTube video from another HT Dr saying that water should be cold or warm, but more cold than warm. Could cold water hair washes in the first days post op have a negative impact on the HT result?, could cold water damage the grafts in the first hair washes after HT?.
  5. Yes, I researched well beforehand but even the best professionals may overlook some important factors sometimes and have bad cases. Hopefully it will not be my case and everything will be fine but I would like to read opinions and/or having feedbacks about recipient sun exposure just before the hair transplant. If this could affect and how. Thanks.
  6. Discuss it with your Dr. : But adding dutasteride or finasteride to keep DHT low could make sense to prevent hairloss. Many people on steroids and TRT do it to compensate or reduce the hairloss issue that comes from raising androgens.
  7. I made my HT few days ago but I am concerned because just the day before the surgery I was walking in the sun for three hours and my receptor area became slightly red, almost nothing. The next day, day of surgery, the Dr did not pay attention to it and He proceeded with the surgery without hesitation. During the surgery it was not any complications: I did not bleed too much… and the days post surgery everything is going according to what it is expected. Could the sun exposure I had the day before surgery affect negatively the outcome of the HT?.
  8. It looks already good with a significant growth and progress at five months. By the way, I am trying to contact Dr Pekiner to request a surgery with him, but I can not find his website anymore. Do you know why his website is not working?
  9. Then I would ask those recommended surgeons who say it is possible to explain you: 1. how many surgeries and grafts you will need to cover everything with a reasonable density 2. how much time (years) from your first surgery until the result of your last one you may expect to pass by. 3. how much money will it cost you all together 4. what will be your final look in the best case scenario of a good survival rate in all your surgeries 5. which is the risk you are facing if in any of your surgeries you do not get a good survival rate considering your current lack of standard donor area and if there would be a way to fix it using hair transplant 6. what are the chances that part of your transplanted hair will also disappear after some years considering that a NW6 may progress to a NW7 and many of your grafts from your donor may be affected by MPB unless you are on consistent and permanent hormonal treatment for hairloss Then you review all the answers to these questions and decide Obviously if you want to have some chance to cover everything you will need to extract thousands of beard hair and getting done this successfully depends a lot on the Surgeon who must be a real Master in BHT. I think the Journey for a NW6 is way too tough, long, expensive and risky. But I also know that we only understand things when we experience by ourselves.
  10. NW 6... I would save the money, the effort, the time and the psychological health because of the emotional journey that will come with the frustration of getting a result that would be worse than where you are now.
  11. I am writing again because my scalp has been kept peeling off non stop. It is specially visible after showering when I see white skin patches that are removing slowly throughout the days when soaked after shower. I am on day 26 post surgery and my scalps is peeling non stop more and more since I did that mistake of keeping too long the shampoo over the scalp. On my day 11 post I did the stupid mistake of doing too long hair wash aiming at removing all scabs (10 minutes water, 10 minutes shampoo massaging, 10 minutes water, 10 minutes shampoo massaging, 5 minutes water). I'm afraid the long time exposure I did with the long hair wash with shampoo dehydrated the skin and now the skin is getting renewed. I contacted with Clinic 2 days after that incident and Dr told me that everything looked normal in pictures and that peeling off was part of skin healing, but I think that what I am having is definitely too much and I am also peeling off parts of scalp that were not touched by surgery. It is like renewing all scalp skin. If anyone could give me some more feedback. I am trying not to freak out but I can stop regretting how stupid I was with that mistake, specially taking into account that I have gone through this surgery already several times. Do you think that skin dehydration due to long shampooing could dehydrate new hair follicles on day 11th? Had anyone have a similar experience?. Any feedback would be much appreciated.
  12. Thanks for the good advice. I have contacted the Dr and sent him some pictures. For time being, He has confirmed that according to pictures everything looks normal. He advised me as well to switch to one normal wash per day because my scalp is already cleaned. Thanks once again for the help.
  13. I am freaking out now. My scalp skin where grafts were place is peeling off. I am afraid that I have definitely damaged the work. I will contact with the Dr and Clinic to see what they advise.
  14. Many thanks Richie888, It was the Clinic Shampoo. I just felt like a bit of dry skin after, but it is difficult to say what I felt. Just extreme worry and regret about what I had done stupidly. I am still wondering how I could have the idea to repeat the shampooing without thinking about the excessive time. I was too focused about not leaving any scabs because of being at day 11th post. You are right, this journey is a difficult psychological waiting game I am becoming totally obsessed with it.
  15. I have also similar concern. For instance, in my post op instructions is written not to wear a wool cap for the first month and I live in a country with real winter: snow and temperatures below zero. I guess that very low temperatures could also have an impact on skin blood flow where grafts are place. Now It is essential to keep a good blood flow and being exposed in very low temperatures will reduce this blood flow temporarily. How can I protect my grafts from outside temperatures if I can not wear a wool cap?. I am looking for some kind of winter cap that does not touch the grafts but it is going to be difficult to find. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
  16. Many thanks for your answer, Melvin. I know well this study but I am concerned now with the possible chemical harassment I could have done with the long exposure to shampoo and water in that hair wash. I am not concerned about mechanical harassment because I am after the 10th day post plus I never saw any trace of blood or any grafts dislodged. Anyhow many thanks for your feedback. It is highly appreciated.
  17. I am writing because on my 11th day post I may have done a mistake with a long hair wash. I read multiple times the importance to reach day 10th with the scalp free of scabs. Today I was in my day 11th and I still had scabs therefore I intensified the hair wash. Following my Clinic instructions I kept head below the shower for 15 minutes, later I soaked and massaged with Clinic Shampoo for 10 minutes to finish with 5 minutes more with head below shower water. When I finished I saw that I still had some scabs therefore I decided to repeat the process (shampoo another 10 minutes plus removal with water another 5 minutes). All together was 50 minutes. Then I realised that it was too long and now I am afraid that I have could damage the grafts and skin around due to long exposure to water and shampoo. Any help or feedback would be much appreciated.
  18. In my case almost 1500 BHT from beard in two different procedures mixed with higher number of head hair.
  19. Dr Couto is considered the Top of the Tops in Spain. In the forum “recuperar el pelo” there are thousands of amazing results and I have never seen a single one bad case from him. The big minus of this Dr is his huge waiting list to get consultation first and his huge waiting list to get surgery with him after this consultation. From getting into his list for consultation until getting surgery with him average time could easily be two or three years. Personally I think that best one in Spain is Dr José Lorenzo, even better than Couto. The reason why I think like this is that Dr Lorenzo frequently faces extreme difficult cases and works frequently with BHT. He is specialized in impossible repairs and has a good amount of incredible results in cases that many Top Drs would never dare to face due to difficulty (extreme repairs, very high Norwood...). Nowdays the HT Industry has progressed a lot and there are more and more Drs/Clinics who can produce very good results specially in low NW but when depleted donor is present only the very best ones can handle it. Coming back to the topic, I have no doubts that Dr Couto is extremely consistent producing amazing results according to what I have been watching for many years in the HT forums of my country.
  20. Zero scars. Zero scars even when a high number of them were extracted, actually the beard donor recovered much faster than the head donor, in my case. I want to highlight as well that the survival was good and the coverage as well even when most of these grafts are single hair because of the thick caliber. The only minus is that these hairs are slightly different than head hair in appearance but if they are place close to crown and/or mixed in the crown nothing strange will be visible. Choosing an experience Clinic/Dr is essential if you decide for BHT, because not many have the experience and knowledge to guarantee a good result using BHT. Reputable Surgeons managing BHT are Dr Umar, Dr Bisanga, Dr Lorenzo, HLC Clinic, Dr Mwamba...normally Top Drs who are able to go above the standard to repair bad works previously done by others. In health.
  21. Thanks a lot for all the inputs and feedbacks There are a lot of good advices in them: The mentioned “post care anxiety”: True, I think I am suffering it. The amount of discrepancy between Clinics in terms post op instructions: I wanted to think that these discrepancies are based on different techniques used. It is not the same strip than FUE and it is not the same FUE with implanters than FUE without implanters and post op care will change depending on these factors...but how much real scientific research has been done in the post op care field, if any??. Of course, I will stick to my Clinic and Dr post op instructions, this is why I chose him... Anyway, once again, many thanks for all your words, they were very useful to increase knowledge and peace of mind. Thanks !!
  22. Hi everyone, I had a FUE procedure done (implantation technique with Implanters) with a very reputable Clinic and Surgeon. Post Operative instructions are (between others) spray saline solution every hour from procedure until 3rd day after. And from 3rd day after start hair washing on recipient and donor area gently twice a day (morning and evening). My mistake or deviation was that on my third day after instead of twice I washed only once (I fell slept in the evening before washing). I woke up at 05:00 am the fourth day and I realised of it and went straight to wash my head according to instructions to reduce as much as possible the time without washing. Could this deviation/mistake compromise the outcome?, is it necessary the twice hair wash to oxygen the grafts properly, apart from the importance of removing the scabs and prevent infections?. Any help or information will be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
  23. My experience with beard hair transplant is that there is NO SCARING AT ALL, absolutely nothing. While I have typical micro white dots on scalp from fue my face is absolutely clean. I have also seen several people who had beard hair transplant because I had same concern as you and I tell you that they had the same clean face without any trace of scars. Also Drs who perform this technique know that this is the general rule for most of people. Face heals better than scalp and much faster!. Regarding Patchy look, this will not happen either because they will distribute extractions as they do when they work on scalp, this is considering that you have a normal density beard. Scenerio will be different if you have very low density beard but then most likely you will not be a candidate for this technique. My advice would be as usual: just make sure you choose a Top Fue Doctor with also experience in beard hair transplant.
  24. Have a look at Peperoni case where Dr Lorenzo used a lot of beard grafts. Dr Lorenzo work is outstanding. I would say that he is one of the best FUE Dr and he is also using beard hair successfully. Regarding beard hair transplant, you can be sure that there is no scaring at all, actually face healing is much better and faster than scalp healing. You will not have either a patchy appearance unless you have a very low density beard. There are also some other Drs who perform sucessfully this kind of repair job like Mwamba, Bisanga, Umar. These are also Top Surgeons with outstanding results and repair cases. Just do your research.
