  1. thanks for your reply which is encouraging news. I must admit that I am quiet upset with this bald patch as it seems to continue to get bigger. Never thought that this could happen 3 months post surgery. At least the hair grow on the recipient area is going well
  2. I underwent a second hair transplant back in November 2017. 4400 Grafts (FUE) were taken and the surgery went over two days. Everything was going well until this week as I suddenly developed a big bald patch within the donor area. There are also a couple of bald patches within the beard area (near to the donor area). I just checked some pictures which were taken back in January and February. It appears that there was already a tiny bald spot, however I never noticed it. The bald spot in question has pretty much tippled in size within 48 hours. I consulted a dermatologist this morning who diagnosed alopecia areata. Steroid injections will be given on Monday. Alopecia areata vs shock loss. Question can hair transplant surgery induce alopecia areata? Anyone who has experienced the same kind of problem? The surgery itself went well and the hair growth within crown, temples and hairline has kicked in nicely. It is just the bald patches which are a bit of an emotional set back.
  3. Day 105 post surgery Seen the dermatologist who confirmed Alopecia areata. Having steroid injections on Monday. I never had Alopecia before.
  4. As outlined yesterday, there has been some shock loss at the back of my head. Whilst everything is growing well on the top and front, I am a bit concerned about the recent development. Maybe the 2 day session was a little bit too much for my body and I am getting the penalty right now. The is also some minor shock loss within the beard area ( also donor area). I am on Monolaurin tablets since February to combat some candida overgrowth in my stomach which is linked to my chron's disease. I am wondering if this could have had an impact towards the current development. Whilst I doubt that this is the case, it still strikes me odd to be hit with shock loss 3 month post surgery. The bald spot is very visible now which is frustrating. I have booking with a dermatologist tomorrow to have the matter evaluated.
  5. Whilst the new hairline, temples and crown area have started to become alive, it appears that some shock loss within the donor area has kicked in. It became evident after my latest hair cut. I must admit that I did not thought that a shock loss could kick in 3 months post surgery. I have contacted the surgeon who advised me to use Minox, Retin A and a topical steroid cream.
  6. the magic 90 has arrived 3 month have passed now since surgery took place and things starting to get more and more alive today: before: today: before:
