Welcome, looks like you have things rolling, my advice is similar to the advice above, RESEARCH RESEARCH, Pick 5 of the top Docs and consult with them all ( you can do this all online via telephone also) Only consult with the Docs on this site they are some of the best in the world.. After you consult with 5 of them, narrow it down to a few and RESEARCH the heck out of them, look at pics on here, request pics,talk to people on here who have had procedures with them, and just as important talk to the people who have had procedures elsewhere and see what there thoughts are on the DR's you have narrowed it down to. After that, RESEARCH some more! When you go to have your procedure you should feel 110% comfortable with no doubts! Don't make travel and cost an issue, if you sacrifice the quality of the Dr. due to cost you will be traveling to see one of the top Dr's down the road to repair the sub-par work. Here is a quick list of Dr's to take a look at along with the Dr. you have already consulted with. Dr. Feller in New York, Dr Ron Shapiro in Minnesota, Hasson & Wong in Vancouver, Dr Konior in Chicago, Dr. Rahal in Canada.. Also there are quite a few great Dr's that are held in high regard on this site that i did not mention, The ones from above are just the ones i researched and see a lot of great work from! Best of luck to you! you are in the right place no one here will push you in the wrong direction! And you want the first session to take care of the majority of what you need (if you can get one then done great) I am having my first procedure 6/29/2009 and hoping to have a large session, after that i plan on taking a look at where i am at a year after and talking to my Doc again to see what his thoughts are on a second procedure.

He always approached me (sounds like with you also) with MY best interest.. I am hoping to have a larger session of 3500-4500 graphs via strip.. if i get more that's great! I am close to a NW-4 so i need quite a bit of work done so a big session to achieve my need the first session is needed and most likely a second session to complete me is most likely (although i would like to have a one and done)I would love to hear your experience with FUE being that is the route i may take the second procedure or if i get hair greed the third !! And you made a great choice! Everyone hear has told me the same about my choice! Question, why Fue over strip?

Welcome to the board! My opinion stay awayfrom the large hair mills MHR, Bosley etc.. Do your research, Have consults with Dr. Feller, Hasson & Wong, Dr. Ron Shapiro, Dr Konior,Dr. Rahal.. all are top docs! Take your time, if i didn't find this site i would have made a HUGE mistake! pullmyhair, I am having my HT on 6/29 with Dr. Ron Shapiro.. After a lot of talks with Matt and a talk with Dr. Shapiro (and people on this board) i could not be more comfortable, i posted a topic a few days ago the topic title is "Having my procedure in 12 days", and Dr.Glenn Charles responded with this.. You have made a good choice. Dr. Shapiro is the Master when it comes to hair transplants. He is also a really good guy and one of the true gentlemen in our field of medicine. You are going to be amazed when its all said and done. Say hello to everyone over at SMG it has been along time since I have worked there That really says alot right there when one of your peers calls you the MASTER, also during another consult one of the top docs said that if he was having the procedure done Dr. Ron Shapiro is who i would call to do it.. Once again that says alot! Keep doing your research but also have a little piece of mind that you have already talked to one the best if not THE best HT surgeons in the world! Best of Luck!

SJD, Do your RESEARCH! All the Docs that were mentioned above are great ones, stay away from the hair mills and welcome to the board you came to the right place no one here will steer you in the wrong direction! Also ask alot of questions from people here, and amd also of the Dr's. If the Dr's or the consults (During the consultations and after) don't take the time to answer all your questions move on! And after you narrow it down do more research, come on here look at pics of there work ask people on here about the Dr's etc.. and do not make travel or money an issue! In the end i went with Dr. Ron Shapiro in Minnesota but would have made a HUGE mistake if i did not find this board and research! That should cover most of it! Also, you should look into Propecia or Proscar.. Good luck!

Been doing the exercises every day for the last 2 months! I was told during one of the consults that if you can pinch a good amount of skin in the donor area then you most likely have good laxity.. does that sound accurate?

Having my first 6/29-$4.50 up to 2000 and $2.50 every graph after. So i would say 3500-4500 Graphs= 12,750-15,250..

Any advice as far as using Rogaine to the transplanted area? Also starting using Revita Shanpoo (love the Stuff)should i continue with that or wait till after the procedure? I'm sure Matt will answer all these questions but always like to ask people from here whom have been through it! ( I do have the before your procedure packet and have read through it) Thanks again PGP and Hairisthere! Keep the responses coming! Augustus, I started losing my hair at 23 and did not take anything for it, now i am 34 and i am having a HT in a few weeks. My advice would be to take a look into Proscar (Propecia) and get on the Rogaine Foam soon, but do your RESEARCH! I am on Propecia at this time and have been for a month now with no side affects.. Some get them some do not, give it a try if there are side affects you can stop taking it. Hang in there and if you have any questions we are all here to help!

You are headed in the right direction as you stated above money and travel do not seem to be an issue! Take a look at Dr. Shapiro (Minnesota), Hasson & Wong (Canada), Dr Feller (New York)and Dr Konior (Chicago)All are top notch Docs who are held in high regard on this site and many others! Spex, I sent the online consultation and may have called also, no big deal though i am VERY happy as i would have been if i went with Dr Feller also! I would feel very comfortable with recommending Dr Feller to anybody out there considering HT!

Went thru the same thing i sent an online consult to Dr. Fellers office with no response, not a big issue as i assumed he was very busy (I wanted to consult with Dr Feller along with Dr. Shapiro, Dr. Konior and Hasson and Wong) in the end i went with Dr. Ron Shapiro but it would have been nice to talk to another top doc!

DO YOUR RESEARCH! I was 1 week away from making a HUGE mistake with a Dr. in in the chicago area, if you are going to look at a Doc in chicago take a look at Dr. Konior, after my research i am heading up north to have my procedure done with Dr Shapiro the end of June.. Best advice do your research! Also keep in mind travel and cost should never be an issue! Also as far as the costs for Dr Shapiro it's 4.50 a graph up to 2000 and 2.50 a graph for everything over 2000.. hope that helps!

Give the Finasteride some time, i know where you are at you have a similar pattern of hair loss as me (From what i can see in the pics)I looked exactly like that at 25, i am 34 now and i am having my first procedure next month as at a NW4 progressing to a possible 5, i didn't take anything to treat and wish i would have. My advice, start with the meds and evaluate where you are at after a year or two and make a plan from there!

I agree Bill, research is very important and understanding the risk vs. reward.. in my case i do understand that i will need 2 surgeries to get where i would like to be. I also think this forum helps guide people with questions in the right direction, and this forum also gives real life experiences to people like me who need to see and talk to others who have went through the same things. If i had not found this forum i would have most likely made the wrong choice's and not put the time in to research my options. And you are right (lost my swagger) it does not come easy! What we all go through is hard and so is life! In the end it comes down to what you want and understanding if what you want is realistic and can be accomplished! I also believe the ethical top HT Doctors will always be honest with you in regards to what they can accomplish!
