  1. You have two of the top surgeons in the world for FUT within driving distance of Indianapolis. Konior in Chicago and Ron Shapiro in Minneapolis. You would be doing yourself a great disservice if you didn't consult with them first.
  2. I've been taking it without any adverse side effects that I know of since 1997 - never had a decrease in libido or ED. Also had a child since then who is a healthy and happy preadolescent. That's not to say that there may be some potential long-term risks that I am yet unaware of. But it essentially halted my hair loss when I began taking it and my hair actually thickened at first. Then gradually over time the hair loss resumed but much more slowly. I can tell its lost some of its effectiveness in the past few years as well.
  3. Congrats on losing the hairpiece. Did you ever try meds before your HT? Propecia specifically. How do you feel about a second procedure? Not sure I could go through FUT again.
  4. Icing the donor area is okay. I lied back against a cool gel pack. I wouldn't ice the recipient area, however. You'll also have swelling in the brow that will move down into your eyes and cheeks. You can ice your forehead, but again, be careful not to touch the grafts.
  5. I think most people who have FUT struggle with finding a comfortable position to sleep in the first several nights. Like I said, I slept in 2 - 4 hour intervals. Just know you're not alone. We've all been there.
  6. If 10 people say you have a tail, sooner or later you have to turn around and take a look. Bisanga, Lorenzo and Feriduni are consistently recognized as being the top FUE guys in the world - and with good reason. If I was seeking FUE, it would make me 'turn around and take a look.' I met with Wesley, too. Nice guy. Very caring. But his 'new technology' is years away from practical implementation.
  7. Did you go into the first one with the plan of having two procedures? Will this be to add density to the front and to address the crown?
  8. Why do you ask for people's opinions when you don't take them into consideration? I read through this thread. Some of the most experienced members on here weighed in on your situation and you chose to ignore them. I felt like you were wasting everyone's time. And often your response to them was glib - 'You're probably right, but I don't care.' I'm not really sure what the point was when you had already made up your mind. It was frustrating to read through this thread because these people are here to help others and give freely of their time and you were completely dismissive. The funny thing is, and maybe it's a joke to you, if it turns out you're not happy with your result, these same people will continue to offer you their support.
  9. Your 6 month results look nice. Would love to see an update as well. I've been impressed with Dr. Gabel's work.
  10. The idea is to transplant DHT-resistant hair from the donor area into the recipient area. Again, everyone has a limited supply of donor hair - typically 5,000 - 7,000 grafts, sometimes more. Surgeons use this hair to create the illusion of density. That comes down to the skill and artistry of the surgeon. And of course the hair characteristics of the patient. A good (ethical) surgeon isn't going to over-harvest from the donor site. But as we age, it's hard to predict the future density and impact of transplantation on that area. Hopefully what remains stays intact, but there's no guarantee. MPB is progressive. Meds help, but may lose their effectiveness over time as well.
  11. No. The donor hair grows in the recipient area. You have a limited supply of donor hair.
  12. Very natural, age-appropriate result. Are DFUs taken from the same strip as the FUs? What will be his total estimated graft count after his third procedure? Was he taking or did her ever take any meds prior to having surgery?
  13. Where the surgeon studied or how many years he's been practicing are of no concern to me. I would have more respect for the doctor who refused your money and turned you away. I'm glad he's not recommended on here. I'd probably get myself banned for the harsh things I'd have to say to him. Good luck on your journey.
  14. I second what Mickey says. Nothing against Wesley, but since you said price is no consideration, I'd only put my head in the hands of the best. And the top three names that consistently come up for FUE are Lorenzo, Bisanga and Feriduni. As you said, if you were going to do strip, you would chose Konior and I think you couldn't do better for FUT. That same thinking should apply for FUE.
  15. I just skimmed through this thread and it's pretty unsettling. I have a few questions: Is the doctor who performed your surgery recommended on this site? If he is, he should be removed. Are you seeing a therapist? Lastly, where are your parents in all of this? I have a daughter your age and there is no way I would allow her to do something so reckless. I wish you all the best, but this thread is troubling. I hope you are getting the support from it you need, but your attitude appears to be, 'You are probably right, but I don't care.' So what's the point?
  16. Great update, mrluissantos. I think a lot of people can benefit from this. Heal well. Looking forward to seeing your progress.
  17. As you can see from what other people said, I'm not the exception - i.e. sensitive. FUT is invasive and you have a linear incision from ear-to-ear. It takes time to heal and the scalp is one of the most sensitive areas on your body. Sleeping is not easy for the first few weeks. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
  18. You can experience numbness up to a year. Thankfully I'm starting to regain feeling in my donor area. It happens gradually but I noticed it quite a bit this past week. I feel good overall, but it is quite a journey and you experience new things and sensations all the time. It's part of the process. I've been sleeping pretty normally for a while now. I avoid sleeping on my stomach with my head to the side because I want to minimize the risk of stretching the scar. Would I do it again? Ask me again after the full results. I most likely wouldn't do FUT again, but might consider FUE down the road.
  19. I used the travel pillow for almost three weeks and slept in an upright position in 2-4 hour intervals. I couldn't lie down on my head because it felt odd with the numbness. Also, it was still tender from the incision and sutures. I had 3,500 grafts and I'm 2 months out now.
  20. That's extreme. I kept it in the home in the medicine cabinet while my wife was pregnant. There's no reason for a woman to come in contact with it. Under what circumstances might that happen?
  21. This was an explanation someone posted. I don't think it applies to this particular case:
  22. First time I've seen this one. That was an exhausting read. Where did you see 9 month results?
