  1. On this forum I have seen some bad results from Dr. Madhu. Here is an example. http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=2176. I doubt whether he is maintaining quality. I have not come across any complaints on Dr. Radha. It is not that only doctors recommended on this forum are good. This forum is mostly North America centered. I believe few of the good surgeons in India are not recommended on this forum. For example, Tejinder Bhatti.
  2. In my opinion Dr. Radha in Vizag and Dr. Tejinder Bhatti in Chandigarh seem to be doing high quality transplants. Though Rajesh Rajput in Mumbai advertises a lot, from what I have seen the quality is bad. From their website Richfeel does not look good. Manoj Khanna might be OK. Please be aware HT done by all doctors is not the same. It varies greatly from surgeon to surgeon. So it is a must to choose a top quality doctor. For a good HT you may want to travel to another city.
  3. The results are rather unbelievable. You had transplantation only on your frontal. How come your crown and all other parts have full hair now? Have you been on Finasteride and that helped?
  4. Dr. Nigam, How come you do not have any talks in the conference? You claim to be actually implementing hair multiplication procedures with success. Did not you feel you should present your results to others in the field and gain their approval?
  5. I flunked a job interview because of excessive Toppik. It was on my scalp and some areas were dark and some were light. The interviewer often times was avoiding eye contact. Not sure because of the Toopik or his nature.
  6. First of all try to get a better assessment of your Norwood hair loss level. From your pics it is hard to determine. My guess would be you are either NW5 or NW6. Post better pictures for assessing the extent of hair loss. There are 5 views required: front, left side, right side, top and behind. From these the quality of your donor can be assessed as well. Whether you are a good candidate or not completely depends on your available donor vs the amount of area required to cover. Try Finasteride and see whether you can tolerate it. There could be sides like ED, depression and brain fog. Try for at least 6 months. If you do not have any problem that is a good news and you may proceed with HT for further better results. If you cannot tolerate it then you should be more cautious. Do not jump on to HT. I did that mistake thinking everything will be great and got my HT done in Hyderabad. It is the worst mistake of my life. I would recommend Dr. Radha over Dr. Madhu. All Madhu does is put some hair in the front. I have not seen any cases where he did a second surgery for the crown. Get a better opinion of your expected results by visiting Dr. Radha.
  7. Hey newguyintown, Your results look good. Have you been taking Finasteride?
  8. I live in south florida. Ricardo Mejia or Glenn Charles are not far from my place. But I do not think I am comfortable getting a HT from either of them. I am very cautious now and may prefer only well proven doctors like Dr. Rahal or Dr. Hasson. I did online consultation with Dr. Rahal and I was told they could do 4000 FUs. But I doubt that assessment without seeing me in person. Above all, I am not convinced of getting any further FUTs. I am more inclined to doing something for my scar and shaving my head. I am highly doubtful of usefulness of further HTs.
  9. The graft count is unknown. But I guess it would be probably in the range 2500-3000. The grafts were placed all over my scalp and hence less density. I do not think my HT was a complete failure. But not sure about what percentage have grown back. Unfortunately I did not care enough to document my HT properly. I live in the US and I had my HT done India when I was there briefly. I tried different combinations of low doses of Fin. I get sides even with 0.5mg twice a week.
  10. @Jotronic I tried to be on Finasteride several times. But each time I get clear Brainfog that I cannot tolerate. I agree with greatjob. A lot of good HT results are presented with patients taking Fin, without clearly mentioning it. Others expect similar results but can never get them because they cannot tolerate Fin. I strongly suggest it should be a mandatory to mention whether someone is on Fin or not, while presenting results.
  11. I do not usually keep my hair short. But I shaved my head to grade 1 recently just to see how I would look with a shaved head. @Spanker The pics in my blog are 1.5 years ago. I lost a lot more of my native hair by now. Here are my recent pics from a previous post wit long hair. https://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/170051-fractional-laser-hair-transplant-scar-resurfacing.html I do not think I look any better with long hair either. My scar is not a concern with long hair though.
  12. Here is my HT blog with pre-op pics. Hair Restoration Site for Buzz
  13. I had my HT done nearly 3 years ago.Looking back at it I think it is the worst decision I ever made in my life. I do not think I am a good candidate for HT after all. But the doctor did not tell me that and went ahead with a HT. I have a large balding area on the crown. In addition hair on my sides is very thin. On the sides it looks like a big jump in hair density at the scar. The problems would not have been as bad if I had chosen FUE. At lease I could have kept my hair very short or even shaved. Therefore my advice for others is please proceed with caution before choosing FUT.
  14. I doubt whether fractional lasers affect hair follicles. Here is a link where some doctors are saying hair follicles are not damaged by fractional lasers. **outside link removed by moderator** In addition, laser hair removal is usually done with laser wavelengths in the range 480-1064nm. Which implies hair follicles may mainly absorb in these wavelengths. On the other hand, fractional lasers are ~10000nm CO2 laser and ~3000nm Er-YAG lasers. Light at these wavelengths may not be absorbed by hair follicles. I wish a dermatologist on this forum confirms that. Overall, if hair follicles are not damaged I do not see any problems with fractional laser treatment. If it can alter thescar tissue in to somewhat normal tissue it helps with better retainment of SMP ink. I think ink retinment is a significant issue with SMP on scars.
  15. I was in your shoes..Getting my PhD and going bald. I made the stupid mistake of getting my HT done by a cheap doctor as I did not have enough financial resources. In my opinion concealers might not help you much, even if you grow out your hair. The hair on top is pretty sparse. However you could grow it out and give it a try. You got nothing to loose. I do not think you have to worry about people noticing thicker hair because of concealers. You can control the amount of concealers to have a gradual progress, if you wish. Do not commit to HT without proper evaluation of pros and cons, keeping in mind your baldness level. You seem like you are a Norwood 6. Do not let the desperation of getting your hair back make you commit an irreversible mistake. Consult multiple reputed doctors and ask for expected final results.
  16. Post this as a new thread along with some pictures of your hair. This thread is not appropriate to discuss your case.
  17. I had my HT done in 2010 and it was OK at that time as I still had considerable amount my native hair. Now the native hair is gone and TOPPIK and Dermatch are not effective enough to conceal my thinning. I am seriously contemplating on shaving my head. However, I have to address the issue of my scar. It is not that bad but would still be noticeable on a shaved head. My scar is mostly raised all along. Has anyone here used Fractional laser treatment for scar resurfacing? I hope the treatment followed by SMP on the scar would make it invisible. There are a lot of discussions about this on HIS hair clinic forum, but I do not see any here. Please share your opinions and results if you had laser treatment along with SMP for scar reduction.
  18. Duncan, I had similar mental side affects from Finasteride. It is called Brain fog or cognitive dysfunction. Read the wiki page on Finasteride, especially "Cause of mood-related and sexual side affects". However, try a lower dose of Fin, for example, 0.5mg twice a week. For me that seems tolerable without the side affects.
  19. Do you guys seriously believe in these results? How do we know these are from Hair multiplication and not from a hair transplant? Just believe the doctor? Please take a look at his infomerical for weight loss. For those of you who do not understand the language, it says his advice over phone would help reduce your weight. Looking at the video, I leave it to your imagination on how much to trust this guy with the most sophisticated task of hair multiplication. This is another video where he talks about meditation. All his words like electron scope, quantum scope, science of energy medicine etc...are a complete crap. India has so many people like this who talk about such spiritual nonsense in an attempt to become popular. He seems to be trying to gain credibility by showing his photos with Dr. Lauster. Do we really know what the actual business between the two was? It could simply have been someone just visiting Dr. Lauster's lab and taking a picture afterwards. Any professor would be happy to show around his lab to others and pose for a picture, though the picture part is a bit weird. That does not mean Dr. Lauster is collaborating with him. So who is this guy really? A weight loss doctor, spiritual guru, hair transplant doctor, or a stem cell scientist? Or a jack of all trades? He is a complete quack.
  20. After my HT, I was wearing a cap at work during week 2. From week 3 onwards, Toppik was good enough to conceal. I would suggest wear a stylish cap for a couple of weeks. Let people wonder why you were wearing a cap. If someone specifically asks, just tell them you had some procedure done on your scalp.
  21. I do not believe in Dr. Nigam's hair multiplication. Being from India, I know well enough about the ethical standards there. I seriously doubt the honesty in the claims and the posted results. When tall claims of hair multiplication are made, credentials and reputation of the doctor matter. What are Dr. Nigam's credentials? Does he have any research accomplishments in cell biology? If his results are indeed true, he should publish the results in a peer reviewed reputed journal and gain the acceptance of others in the field. Besides HT, apparently his clinic also supplies food for patients seeking weight loss. Also he seems to be associated quite a lot with the glamor world of Bollywood. In addition, pictures of his clinic looked like that of Hairclub where only good looking women are employed. These are few bad indications. There are a lot of complaints about the practices of his clinic and the results. I do not think this community should endorse his claims in anyway based on just the pictures he provides or by his words.
  22. I wore a hair system for about 5months from Hairclub for men. I got off it finally in the last month. BTW.. I recently crossed 30 years. Here are the answers to your questions. 1) You probably would be thinking about whether others are noticing the system. For me this was not a problem with my friends but at work I was keeping a very low profile. It is highly unlikely that the system would fall off when attached with glue. But the problem is lifting up at the edges. 2) The sweat makes the system liftup and not to stick to your scalp. You can shower without having to takeoff and reattach. 3) Your roommates would definitely know, your friends may not. It is highly likely that your roommates would see when the system is in bad shape, i.e., dry and not styled. 4) Maintaining a hair piece is expensive. If you are a good candidate for HT go through the HT route. 5) If you still have your native hair starting using Finasteride. Grow your hair long and use Toppik. The reasons for me to quit are 1) Lifting up of the system at edges even with glue attachment. It was not really following my head contour most of the time. 2) Phobia that people at work are going to find out especially on bad hair days.
