  1. Looks good bro! Can't see scar! Grafts locked in! Good luck!
  2. Hey Gary, I was happy about that. I thought I would have to shave it but when I asked Dr.Cooley if he was going to shave it, he replied "Only if you want me to". I went to bass pro shop (which is in a mall) with my best friend yesterday and he said that you couldn't even tell I had anything done. The ladies at my check up told me the same thing. I didn't notice any funny looks from encounters I had with employees/people. About the ACELL/PRP... I can tell you these things that lead me to use it after I was told about it and did some research. 1: It has been proven for wound healing. 2: Helps minimize scar formation and improve grafts survival. 3: It can possibly beef up your native hair (I seen a few stand alone pics that showed decent results) Those are the main reasons in order, that made me choose to add it in with my HT. It didn't hurt that after doing tons of research, I found that Dr.Cooley has done more leg work on learning and testing this method then anyone else I could find.
  3. The 7 day post op visit to Dr.Cooley's office today was great! I was anxious and nervous on the ride up, but that all went away as soon as I walked in the door and was greeted by Lollie. She's so awesome at her job and just as a person in general. I was then brought in for a good cleaning and boy did it feel good! 2 of the technicians that helped with my procedure came in and went over every concern I had and told me that everything looked good and anchored in! I'm very happy I went with Dr.Cooley's office as i've realized he has a team thats very strong in what they do. These people genuinely care and have great personalities to go with it. Happy happy customer so far! Here's a couple more shots of what I look like now, then i'll be updating pictures every month or so. *fingers crossed*
  4. Well, I originally was going to stick with taking the HT + Finasteride road. After having all this time to think and ride out the internet, i've decided to max this thing out to the best of my ability and put a hefty order together Finasteride 1.25mg (ED) Regenepure DR - Hair & Scalp Treatment (EOD) Lipogaine for Men 5% minoxidil w/azelaic acid & saw palmetto (morning use) Kirkland Minoxidil 5% Extra Strength (night use) Microneedle Skin Care System NEW SPA 1.50mm. FDA Listed - NEW SPA (this is used to roll on the scalp before applying the manoxidill to make it absorb better) I've read and read and this is the best "lineup" I could find. Got my 7 day check up today so hopefully i'll get some good news!
  5. I think you're right. I was going to continue to do the 2.5 MWF but it makes better sense to just get a pill splitter and take it every night. A steady flow would probably work better then a large spike every few days. Thank you.
  6. Hey TakingThePlunge, Could you be so kind as to update this thread? Did your hair start to thin again or is it still holding up to stopping the propecia?
  7. I'm in for the ride! Curious to see how things go for you buddy! I'm right behind you by 5 days and feel like we have somewhat similar hair type. Good luck! What all do you use to prevent further loss? Wishing you the best!
  8. Hey Cautious, I was in your same boat and just now after several years of saving. I had a HT performed on my receding and thinning hair. I'm just your avg joe, but I've looked at hundreds of threads and to my understanding you mentioned all of the risks above that sum up a "bad transplant" The main ones being poor yield of transplanted hairs growing and "shock loss" where native hair that was already on it's last leg gets traumatized during the HT and doesn't grow back pretty much giving a less then expected result. Most cases i've seen the "shock loss" hair grows back, but every so often I see one where it doesn't. As far as the hair looking "unnatural" I haven't seen many pictures where the hair didn't look like normal regular hair, because after all, it is. I assume the unnatural look could only come from bad graft placement by the surgeon. The main thing that is important is to pick a surgeon that has an amazing track record. that way you know if it doesn't work for you that it was just meant to be and not because you didn't do your homework. Hope I was some help... Good luck!
  9. I've been lurking this board off and on for a few years collecting information on restoring and preventing further loss of my hair. I started on FIN 2 months ago taking 2.5 mg MWF (no sides so far) I just had a FUT procedure 6 days ago 2500 grafts to repair my receding and thinning I see a lot of people saying they take .5mg-1mg MWF or either 1mg daily. I'm confused on which is the best move here. Is my dose over kill or could it be beneficial? I was also curious if being on the FIN 2 months prior will be long enough to combat the effect of "shockloss? I don't want to use minox. I do want to find a good shampoo regimen but confused on a correct system of use . I've been looking at "revita". Can someone who knows from experience please shed some light on me as to what the best action for me to take from here is. I have a cleaning/check up appointment with my Dr. and will address these same concerns with him, but wanted to see some up to date views of the people here also. Thanks for any help -Raymond
  10. Hey Shab, I can't believe nobody has replied to this. Those are some outstanding results, I bet you're on top the the world bud. Congratulations on your new improved life! How much propecia mg are you taking and how often?
  11. This seems like it would be a nice addition to a hair transplant to give a fuller look. What do you all think? What is the cost range for this type of thing Gary?
  12. Nice log. It looks a lot better. Just a couple more months and you should hopefully have a boom in growth. Wishing you the best. Good luck!
  13. Congrats! I think judging from the progress of your timeline that it's safe to say you'll get good results and be where you want to be. Are you using any hair loss products? I've been thinking about starting to use "revita" but it's so expensive and "nizoral" is impossible to get ahold of. Wishing you the best. Good luck!
  14. Thank you! I'm going to post monthly picture updates. Everything has been coming along nicely. I did experience some swelling in my eyes and forehead but when I was a child I was attacked by a dog and had 352 stitches in my head and upper face so i'm thinking that history didn't help me from not being a "sweller". It's mostly gone now. I am a little concerned about when I go back to work. I'm a lineman and we have to wear hard hats all day. I go back on 9 days post op. I'm told that after 7 days they are "anchored" but I fear the sweat and hardhat rubbing the grafts might hurt the result... The procedure was smooth, and comfortable considering the circumstances. The movie selection was nothing but great movies. While watching "The last samuri" Dr.Cooley knew the words to the best quotes which I thought was awesome. Had a question for him a few days post op, and he answered his phone on the first ring! Can't be more satisfied with the service at the point.
  15. What a informative thread! I've been taking 2.5mg MWF for 2 months now and haven't noticed anything bad. I've been thinking myself that it seems like a steady flow from 1.25mg a day would be better, but it's near impossible to get those pills in 4's and you end up with a bunch of crushed mess in the bottle and mg dosage becomes wishy washy. I think the 1mg tabs would make life much easier. How much more is the cost? I'm paying $55 for 30 Finasteride 5mg pills.
  16. Yes, I've read up on it a decent amount and felt good about adding it with the HT. Dr.Cooley was a guy that I could wright a day on how professional, realistic and all around cool he was. Staff was more of the same. I don't hype much up but they deserve it! Here is one of the back post op on day 1. I'm cleaning the recipient area 1x a day and applying the cream 2x a day. Using a dilute mixture of dawn dish soap to remove the old cream. Also have been spraying these grafts like there's no tomorrow!
  17. I sure hope so Pelo. I definitely felt in not good, but great hands. I just started a progress picture log on these forums so feel free to check them out.
  18. I've decided to start a log of my HT. Like many, I've suffered horribly from the mental effects of losing my hair. It's been 5 long years of dreaming about getting a HT and now i'm living the dream. I'm very excited and scared at the same time. Praying that I will be another success story in this outstanding community. I will log my experience in this thread and try to take pictures in the same setting and same angles.
  19. Dr.Jerry Cooley. I just seen the pictures of the stand alone, not face to face. Like you, I've seen some bad stories. Not sure if I would have it done as a stand alone, I felt good about using it along with the HT.
  20. I sure hope it does help! I just had the acell/PRP along with 2500 grafts. It seems to me like there's definitely a great benefit to using it. I've seen a before and after with it used as a stand alone and if the pictures were legit, then it does thicken up the native hair quite a bit.
