  1. Amen to that, Gill. I've never had a HT, but I've met several surgeons who are quite prepared to put a high of amount of grafts into my frontal third without even checking my potential donor count accurately, or discussing/considering future hair loss. Fortunately - and thanks to this forum - I've not rushed in to get a procedure and feel much more educated about the risks and what I should be thinking about for my own future appearance (even if the docs don't always do that). I've also ruled out many 'good' surgeons on account of their - to my mind - poor considerations and planning for future hair loss.
  2. Chap, I really feel for you. We obviously can't see your pre-op photos, but for 5k grafts you'd really expect a much better result. If it was me, I'd now be doing research to look for a good doc who could do repair work. This forum is a good place to start that search. I'd then get a few consultations with a few shortlisted docs and see what they say can be done. It really depends on how many grafts you've got left, what coverage you can expect, how much you can/want to pay, and how much further time/trauma you feel you can give to get a result - maybe it's just worth shaving down.
  3. Hi Skip You'll probably find there are as many opinions as there posters to this board. I'd recommend searching for the user Mickey85 - his signature has some useful links to general FUE and HT stuff. You look like a good candidate for a HT to me. Looks like you have good donor and hair characteristics (but I'm no doctor). I'm in the same boat as you, looking for an FUE doc. Koray Erodgan is also one I'm considering. Everyone will have a different opinion - and lots of it will depend on what you're trying to achieve - but I've always liked Feriduni's hairlines. They seem the most natural to me. He's probably a bit above the 3 Euro price range, though. And most would say Lorenzo is the king of FUE - but he's more again. It really depends what you want to achieve. Something to consider, I'd say, is how this is going to pan out long term. You really need to think about that and find a doc who's answers you're comfortable with. Hair loss is progressive and if you want to keep what you got it will probably mean going on some medication, or further HTs. I've seen a lot of the 'best' doctors operate on pretty young guys, and come up with very low hairlines. I struggle to think that's always in their long-term interests. But then this is a cosmetic procedure - and maybe they got what they wanted.
  4. Hi Sam, Do you know if 10 May is a day that he's seeing lots of potential new patients or just you? I spoke to Mick a few weeks ago and pretty keen to get to see Lorenzo for a consultation, but not heard back about a face-to-face. Totally with you on the short list you've narrowed it down to, by the way.
  5. The next piece of advice everyone is going to give you - perhaps unrealistically - is not to let cost be the deciding factor in where you go. And the next one is not to let location play a major part - go where the doctor you want is. You can see who this network recommends - and you probably won't go wrong if you choose Lorenzo in Manchester. But he's probably the most expensive here. As I say, though - do your research and don't rush into anything.
  6. The simplest piece of advice - get your consultation by all means, but don't sign up or pay for an op. Spend a few months researching the options and procedure types and doctors - chances are after that you won't want to go to Transform in Reading. You'll find a lot of advice and things to read on here - so don't rush into anything.
  7. Admittedly, that area doesn't look very dense with transplanted grafts in the pictures, but it's difficult to tell. The only way to know for sure is to ask him. Bottom line: you're not going to be able to get the appearance of amazing density over all that scalp with only 3000 grafts - and mostly singles and doubles. If I were you, I'd take the meds to keep what's there and see how this HT pans out. That region looks like you had fairly OK density beforehand so you might be pleasantly surprised if you don't suffer too much shock loss.
  8. Thanks for posting. I'm considering Dr Dogannay for my HT, so it's interesting to see as many patients as possible here. The hairline looks very symmetrical to me - bearing in mind most natural hairlines aren't perfectly symmetrical (or faces for that matter). It also looks to me like he's done what you wanted and placed an emphasis on grafts in the hairline and front region. If this will be dense enough for you, I guess only time will tell when it grows. Think you made a wise choice going for the more conservative hairline, too. Best of luck.
  9. Thanks for the reply Gotime. And for the advice. I had thought Dr Lorenzo would be there for longer - unfortunately there's little chance I'll do it before September. But I'm not in any rush, so I'll hang on in there. May go for a consult while he's over here all the same. Happy growing - I'm sure your result will be a belter!
  10. Looks like a fairly minimal time to be back to where you were - and from now on it's only going to get better. Have you used any concealer (Toppik etc) in the last few months? Has anyone who didn't know made any comment or guessed. I'm considering getting a HT, also going with Lorenzo, and I'm wondering if I could get away without telling anyone. Certainly anyone at work, anyway.
  11. Hang on in there. I'm sure the results will come through. How are you finding the Toppik? Are you getting away with it? Does it cover the redness? I'm considering a HT but dread most the ugly duckling stage, especially the shedding and trying to cover up having had a procedure.
  12. Nice work, Dr Lindsey. And I'm sure it will only get better. Life sure is tough for some children. I sometimes helped out with Christmas treat events for kids who'd had a rough time. The children were always incredibly adaptable and fun-loving. Occasionally I'll hear of one of them who is now a bit more grown up and thriving. I hope that's the case with your daughter, Dr Lindsey. John - enjoy college. It will go by quickly, so make sure you have a blast.
  13. It's fairly unlikely to make a difference. Passport Control know people change their hair - they check other anatomical facial features which remain constant.
  14. Hang in there, Rod. Let's hope it's just taking slightly longer than usual. I'd definitely suggest emailing Dr Radha with the latest pics to see what she thinks of it so far. Best of luck. C
